“Another fantastic holiday”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

We returned after a great holiday in 2009 and were not disappointed, everything was a nice as before and we were even lucky enough to book in early. The Lodges are lovely with everything you need for a relaxing break & more. The wildlife adventures with Gary is a must for all, you wouldn't get this experience on any other site, we all had a fantastic afternoon despite the showers. A hot stone massage with Laura can't be missed along with all the other treatments on offer. The area offers some lovely walks and those sore feet & bodies after trecking can be relaxed in the Jacuzzi, sauna & steam room, follow this with a meal cooked for you at the Terrace Restaurant, what more can u want for a lovely holiday in Cornwall. Thank you to all the staff. We will be back !

Just returned from a week staying in a 2 bedroom lodge and found it was very well equipped, plenty of room for 4 adults.
swimming pool is a bit on the small side but if you time it right you can have it all to yourself. we ate in the restaurant once but were not overly impressed, there is a good pub in the next village 'the new Inn', but be aware that friday evening is bingo night and you could get an odd look if you are sitting in a regular bingo players seat.

Room Tip: all lodges look out too sea but the VIP ones have the best view

We stayed here for a three night break and we were really impressed with the lodge. Fully equip with everything you need and a real home from home. Only negative was the lack of info in the pack regarding nearby dog friendly beaches. We ate once in the restaurant which was very good although a little lacking in atmosphere as the lighting is very bright. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the peace and quiet was just what we needed. We will be back soon.

Although we did not stay on site we are a group of three mature couples who stayed at a cottage in Portreath we did have two lovely meals at Gwel An Mor during our holiday.

We had enquired about using the pool before traveling and were advised to ring on the day to check that it would not be too busy, a good idea for us and for residents. We were not able to use the pool on the morning we choose but we could use it in the afternoon so decided to stay for an evening meal.

We had a lovely time in the pool, gym and spa but I did have to find a plug socket in the gym for a hairstyler.

We had such a lovely meal that we decided to round off our holiday with another visit.

The service on both were second to none, nothing was too much trouble even an offer for one of the main courses that one of us could not make their mind up over to be served smaller as a starter, we asked for one pudding and two spoons but it was served individually in two smaller (?) portions. We very much appreciated that.

I am afraid we did keep them waiting while we chose as it was so hard to decide. Everyone of the twelve starters, meals and puddings were excellent quality.

We will definitely return next time we are in Cornwall. Two lovely evenings.

Bit late in writing this review as went some time ago. This was booked last minute with hoaseasons so did not pay full price for a short break with hot tub.
We loved the accommodation, very well designed and furnished. Little chocs on the pillows for the adults and lollypops for the children.
The lodge we had was vip and sleeps 6, this was pure luxury compared to some of the other lodge parks we have stayed in. The pool was nice and clean & reception staff very friendly. They have a dvd collection you can borrow if you want to curl up on a winter night.
We went to eat in the restaurant but my 9 week old baby had different ideas, the staff boxed all our food up and had it delivered to our lodge. ( we chose to leave as not to disturb the other diners )
I would love to go back, the area is lovely and we had some lovely walks.
Only down side is the price ( but you do get what you pay for ) and the hot tub was small. ( only room for two )
Fabulous place, Stop reading reviews and Book it.

It is always great to arrive somewhere and find everything just right and meeting your expectations. But it's rare that I find my expectations exceeded, which happened here at Gwel An Mor in a VIP lodge, and by a fair margin too. Clearly someone has thought hard about all the things a resident might need and provided them, Just in case. For example, there was a couple of board games and a selection of books in the lodge. In the bedside cabinet, there was a torch. By reception there were buckets and spades to borrow. i the restaurant there were table games to play. And other little touches like a card personally welcoming us. I haven't mentioned the lodge yet, but it was so clean that on first inspection I wondered if it was new. It was not, but was well looked after, and the staff clearly take care cleaning and resetting the lodges.

It's a small park high on the hills and I would imagine most if not all lodges would have a sea view. There is a gym and pool onsite, and a small playground. There is a bistro restaurant and the food is excellent. However it does get busy so it really is advisable to book - we didn't when we arrived and then regretted it! There is no shop on site, they encourage you to use the shop in the village, but if you want a full on supermarket, then there is one about 12 minutes away.

The beach at Portreath is great and within walking distance from the resort (although you may not want to walk loaded up with beach paraphernalia!) There is a small zoo on site which we didn't get to use (you need to pre-book), but looks great for small children. A couple of animals are passed as you walk down the footpath into town.

When planning this holiday I did doubt if there would be enough in the area to sustain us for a fortnight, so I only booked a week. A big mistake. There is plenty, but its a mistake I can happily fix by returning next year...

Redifusion,

Thank you for such great praise, and Its always great to her we exceeded your expectations.

We do try very hard to think of everything, and our housekeeping staff will be pleased to hear how immaculately clean your lodge was. There is so much to do around us, and in fact you didn't even do all the things at Gwel an Mor that you could have done.

The farm activities are awesome for all age groups, the SPA? pool, Sauna, steam room, hot tubs, cycling, walking, tennis...

Look forward to you coming back again.
