“A beautiful home from home”
Reviewed July 14, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Had such a wonderful stay at Seashells. The house is beautifully decorated and is a real home from home. Everything you could possibly need is there which is unusual in holiday homes. There's also a gorgeous little garden to sit in and the bonus of a garage that you can use for a car or storage. The house is right on the harbour and a short walk from the beach and shops. If you prefer the less commercialised Cornish experience then this is the place to stay. But saying that, It's also very centralised and if you don't get great weather like we didn't, it's easy to visit the rest of Cornwall, such as St Ives, Minack Theatre, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Newquay. We would definitely recommend Seashells.

“A great place to stay”

Portreath is a wonderful Cornish village, and 'Seashells' is situated right in the heart of it. The cottage is thoughtfully decorated and has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. The little walled garden at the back is ideal for dining or sitting out, and the array of plants is a credit to Laura; who is obviously 'green-fingered'.
The Bakery, selling amazing pasties, and a Costcutter are in one direction from the cottage, and the beach with the Waterside Inn, serving delicious food, is in the other; both a short walk away.

Liked best: The easy access to the beach and shops. No need to drive anywhere if we didn't want to.
Liked least: Nothing to do with 'Seashells', but the harbour does smell a bit of rotting seaweed when the tide is out.

“A perfect holiday location”
Reviewed August 8, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We were met by the owner Laura, who were extremely welcoming and the welcome pack really well received after a long drive.
It is extremely well presented with everything we needed for a family of 4. Right on the harbour, 100 yards from the beach and its glorious waves. The garage proved invaluable for storage and the patio is a sun-trap!
No problem parking, and the local bakery and Costcutter within 100 yards proved useful.
I highly recommend Seashells, there is a saying on the wall inside, saying 'Sandy toes and Salty kisses' which sums up a wonderful 3 week stay. Thank you

“Excellent, well presented holiday home”
Reviewed July 5, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Nothing was too much trouble, either before or during our stay. We were made very welcome and the holiday home was just that - a home. Well equipped and full of those 'little touches' that make all the difference.
Seashells is in an excellent location with a family beach on the doorstep and spectacular coastline stretching both east and west.
There are many places in Cornwall to catch a spectacular sunset and Portreath is certainly one of them.

“Stunning property for a truly relaxing holiday”
Reviewed July 23, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We have just returned from a weeks holiday staying at "Seashells" and couldn't recommend it enough. The owners who stay locally met us on arrival to show us around the house and they couldn't have been more helpful. We were really impressed that they had even thought of putting some fresh milk in the fridge for our arrival - if you arrive after the local shops closing time and are a bit of a tea or coffee addict you will really appreciate this foresight.
The property itself has been lovingly and tastefully decorated throughout and is equipped with everything you could possibly need to truly make this a "home from home". There is also a small garden with wooden patio furniture and a BBQ at the back which feels very secluded, a perfect place for sunbathing or a glass of wine in the evening.
The house is conveniently located with the beach, shops and local pubs / restaurants less than 5 minutes walk away. The scenery along the South West Coast Path from Portreath towards Hayle is absolutely stunning and a Cornish Cream Tea at the Hell's Mouth Cafe along the way is highly recommended.
We have enjoyed a fantastically relaxing week and hope to come back.

“Fantastic!!!”
Reviewed July 17, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

I can honestly say that if this was my house I would not let it out. It is lovely. Full of lovely homely touches and beautifully decorated. I think the kitchen had more equipment than my own home. Laura and Barrie were there to greet us and gave a really helpful handover. They were really friendly and genuinely helpful. It is in a lovely spot, right on the quayside at Portreath and right next to the beach. There are a couple of pubs in the village within a 2 minute walk plus a lovely fish cafe/bar also within 2 minutes walk. I have tried to think of something that might have made the house better and I can't. None of us wanted to leave the house it was so comfortable and homely. If I wanted to say anything it would be that if the house was fully occupied (it has three bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin and 1 single) then another toilet would be useful but that is not a criticism at all. It would just make the bathroom run in the morning a bit quicker! There is no mobile phone coverage in the area for Vodafone or O2 but the house had free wifi so we just connected our phones to the internet and stayed in touch via email or "Whats App" (the web based messaging service). We come from Kent and have family living in the area and we will definitely use the house again next time we visit Cornwall. I just can't think of anything negative to say except for the weather as it rained every day but that did not detract from the lovely house. By the way, the house also has a garage for use by guests. Thank you Laura and Barrie for making the house so lovely!
