Smugglers cottage 23rd - 30th June 2018
We were very Warmly greated by David who showed us round the most idyllic holiday home we've ever stayed in. The property and views are stunning in every way and the house is equipped with everything you would need to make the most of your stay , including a lovely welcome feast of scones homemade jam and cream , doughnuts , biscuits , tea , coffee , milk , wine and beer !
The house is homely yet more than large enough to accommodate 9 people with ease.Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and what lovely people they are....we can't recommend this holiday home enough and will definitely be returning soon ....
We have been lucky enough to stay at this incredible property twice. November ‘17 & February ‘18.
Where to begin... the location is what most people would dream of, set into the cliff edge overlooking the cove below. So idyllic.
The house is equipped with everything you could possibly need even down to wetsuits for the sea and wellingtons for a walk up to the top of the cliff behind the house.
We spent most of our days in as we wanted to make the most of such a spectacular house and it’s views with floor to ceiling windows.
There is a local villiage near by with a couple of pubs, a shop and a bakers to name a few.
I’m in a wheelchair and nothing was too much trouble for David. He ensured everything was in place for our arrival on both occasions. And any queries I had leading up to our stay was dealt with extremely efficiently. In my position that was great, as my mind was always put at ease so quickly.
We only had one issue during our stay. The hob fuse blew whilst we were making lunch. I called David. And to our astonishment within 6 minutes someone was knocking at the door and minutes later the problem was sorted. Unbelievable service.
I’m hoping to return again soon. And with a place like this in England. Why go abroad.
You could be nothing but overwhelmed by this wonderful property from the minute of arrival.
We were greeted by the owner who gave us a personal tour of the house and offered us lots of advice of where to go to make the most of our week. Nothing was to much trouble from him to make sure we were comfortable and happy!
What a lovely to touch that fresh flowers, scones with jam and cream, fresh milk and alcohol were left for us.
Arriving in November, we knew the weather wouldn't be glorious sun shine, however it was bright, dry and fresh for our full stay and not even the British weather stopped me from having my morning coffee wrapped up in a blanket on the kissing seat listening to the waves and enjoying the truly wonderful views.
The house itself is such a fantastic find. Although it can sleep 8 and we were only 2, it never felt big or cold. It is homely, warm and cozy and met every need we had. It has all mod cons, is beautifully decorated and is perfect on every level.
The sun room at the end of the house became my reading room. Relaxing, listening to the water and reading my books was exactly what I wanted from my stay. I could not have found a better house or place to do this.
My husband found a place to course fish for a couple of days and loved every minute!
The walk along the beach to the shop, bakery and local pub is so relaxing and easy that we never really has to use our car at all.
Although a TV is available in every room, we were not tempted at all to watch one.
We cannot recommend this house highly enough for a truly wonderful holiday. My husband and I can safely say we will definitely be returning!
We loved our stay and it was the highlight of our tour of Cornwall. The house is lovely, well appointed and well stocked. Very comfortable with all our needs anticipated. We really appreciated the warm welcome, the fresh bread and scones and provisions left for us. We also really appreciated use of wetsuits, beach towels etc. Most of all, however, the views and access from this house are unbeatable. So beautiful. The beach is perfect for surfing and body boarding. We also took great advantage of the coastal path behind the house. Stunning. Our dog loved it too. Owners were on hand and extemely helpful when needed, discrete otherwise. Highly recommend.
A beautiful holidayhome with all you need. Spacious rooms with incredible views. Big kitchen and dining area with ll the amenities. Great for families, we travelled with three children, and were provided with toys, a babycot, a baby bathtub, a highchair. We even saw a pram in the storage.
The house was classy and stylish with a terrace so tempting ypu wouldn t want to leave the house!Beautiful paths leving just from the house, direct access to the beach, surf nd bikerental walking distance. We would definitely recommend!
Smuggler's Cove cottage must hold one of the most beautiful locations of any self-catering accommodation in the world. It is nestled into the cliffs on one side of Portreath Beach, and whether in the property or on the spacious veranda, it feels as if you are floating above waves, as they roll in and out beneath you. Wherever you are in the cottage, you are perpetually encased by mesmerizing views and sounds. The dramatic settings means you will welcome storms and rain, because they are really a sight to behold. The property itself has been furnished to a 5* standard, with a finish equal to the best of hotels. I found the walk-in downstairs shower particularly wonderful. Vikki and David, who were incredibly efficient throughout the booking process, have clearly thought of every detail, from sun loungers, beach towels and snorkeling gear for sunny days, through to plush throws on the sofas and beds for cozy evenings. If you can peel yourself from the cottage, then the beach is 10 seconds away, as is the south west coastal path. Smuggler's Cove Cottage offers not just another holiday, but a wonderful experience, which a few of us will be fortunate enough to share in.
