Negev Camel Ranch

This review is for the 1 hour camel tour at the ranch. If driving, its on the same turn-off as the Mamshit National Park (the camel ranch is listed under hotels on Garmin GPS Israel, not under Attractions). Excellent and knowledgeable English guide - the 1-hour tour is a gentle camel ride over a hill to an observation point of the old Mamshit settlement. Guide gave history of the area and information about camels. We went in mid December, the temperatures were cool (take a jacket). Hosts served tea while waiting at the entry. The 2 hour tour was not available in the off season. Highly recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights in this family-run camel farm. We were five families with kids, and every single one of us just loved the place. The children were running around and were having a great time playing together.
The place is good value for money. The rooms are small and simple, but clean. What you see in the photos is exactly what you get. In addition to having an electric heater, all rooms are well insulated, and we could sleep with the heater off and without heavy woolen blankets even in the chill of winter night.
The communal bathrooms and showers are clean but can be proven a bit far from the room in chilly nights.
You can order food from the farm (in advance) or bring your own (there is a surprisingly comfortable kitchen with two refrigerators, a stove, a microwave oven, sinks and stainless steal counters). However, if you cook, you'll have to carry your food for about 100 yards from the kitchen to the "lobby"/dinning room.
The staff is very friendly. The owner, Ariel, gave us tips for some good hikes in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for the room adjacent to the large acacia tree with the hammock.

After a short stay in Elait we wanted somewhere to stay close to the Dead Sea and Masada, we could not have stayed anywhere better!! It is simple but very clean and a home from home. If you like to see nature and sleep undisturbed under the stars this is definitely a place to stay and if you don't stay here for one night it was an amazing experience. Our kids wanted to have a camel ride in Israel and they got that and more. The owners are extremely friendly and will offer advice and assistance. There is also wifi in the reception area. The camels are very friendly we had a great time meeting them and I would strongly recommend taking a camel trek (if you want anything longer than an hour you need to book when you arrive) it was very informative and the kids really enjoyed it!! Overall this is the best place I have stayed great location and extremely good value for money I can't wait to return.

Negev Camel ranch is located in a perfect location where the Negev lime stone hills meet the desert sandy dunes. The Camel ranch is a very peaceful place, facilities are very simple but highly maintained, every thing is clean an neat. The camels are very calm and well trained, and the paddock is clean and near by (so you can approach the camels to say hello). The place provides very good breakfast and dinner all home made, healthy and diverse food prepared with attention and care. A thought the facility is not a 5 stars, the feeling is of a million stars, and when you look up, late at night, you realize that it is: "a million stars accommodation"
.

Room Tip: Don't miss the camel ride trip, it is not only a 3 minutes around for the picture, but a highly...

The accomodation is very simple, there is nothing in the room except some beds and a low table, but it's not a 5* hotel, you know. You can sit outside on matresses or relax in hammocks. It's quiet and nice there, it becomes chilly in the everning, and the sky is full of stars. Amazing!
In the lobby there is free wi-fi and herbs tea, also for free. We didn't order any meals, so no comments here.
If you have some shekels in hand, you can go for a camel ride, we enjoyed it a lot!
The showers and the bathroom are not private, the camels can be a bit noisy and they smell but we didn't mind it.

The accommodations were simple, yet clean. The experience staying here (especially with kids) was excellent. The other reviews on this site are accurate. Great value for money. I also recommend paying for the dinner - a "traditional camel sheperd" meal. Although the location is in the middle of the desert, it can serve as a good spot for an economical place to stay on the way to the Dead Sea or Ein Gedi. Although the showers and toilets were in a common area, they were very clean. The kids loves hanging out by the camels and filming versions of the Geico "What day is it? It's hump day" commercial!

They did not have our “food” reservation so we missed out on dinner.

The huts were exactly what we pictured. We enjoyed a campfire that they stared for us too. Bathrooms were clean.

We rode the camels and I hated it, but that was me, not their fault. The rest of my group loved the camel rides. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We loved the place but really was disappointed about the dinner!

Room Tip: Double check your dinner order a few days before arrive
