A nice little castle still pretty much intact. Surprisingly used in the Monty Python Holy Grail film.

“Our favourite castle”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Lots to see, steps to climb, loads of different rooms, great views. We like to go as it's getting dark in winter, take a torch and play at being spooky!
Terry Jones's Monty Python-inspired audio tour is fantastic, even suitable for older children due to the humour.

“The Holy Grail”
Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

This visit was a must to introduce our Grandson to the joys of Monty Python , to carry on a family tradition.unfortunately he maybe a wee bit young, but he will learn.
The castle is small, but well worth the visit. The audio guide was done by John Cleeves which made it even more enjoyable.
Well worth the £5 fee.

“Storybook castle with a Monty Python connection.”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Doune Castle is built on a rock overlooking the River Teith. We didn't get inside because there was a wedding going on but my grandson and I walked roung the castle walls and admired the splendid view down to the river. Lovely walks all around, some with access to the river.

“Very interesting and entertaining”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Great castle and very interesting and entertaining audio guide. If you're a Monty Python fan you will love it. The Python team filmed some of the Holy Grail here and Terry Jones does the (free) audio guide for the tour.
Good value at £5.50 per adult with a free audio guide.
Well worth a visit
