“Fabulous Fiesta”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 25, 2005

We just return from a one week stay at Fiesta Resort and Casino and felt compelled to share our experience with others considering this experience. The first pleasant surprise was the understated critique of the beach ajoining the resort. After booking the holiday last Oct. we were concerned about the negative review of the beach area. These reviews made the beach sound unusable and unattractive. However, we were pleasantly surprised at how visually appealing and highly accessable the beach was. We spent many a morning walking up and down the beach. Althought the surf was rugged one could bathe in the bath water warn ocean. The beach was well maintained and closely monitored by resort staff.
The three pools at Fiesta were breath taking, perfectly maintained, ample shade and lawn chairs were abundant. Total access to clean beach towels throughout the day was a pleasant surprise.
House cleaning services were on par with canadian standards and all staff were friendly and willing to assist you at any time of the day or night.
Food was provided in generous amountas and variety, if you could not find something to eat you were a picky eater.
Nightly shows were cute and the staff did work hard to entertain guests.
Speaking Spanish would be an asset as some tour operators had little or no English. Some day trips are 12 - 14 hours day so choose your trips wisely! A must try is the Canopy (zipline) tour!!!! AMAZING!!!!
Overall we would recommend this resort to anyone who wants a relaxing and enjoyable experience in Costa Rica. We will definately visit Costa Rica again.

We decided on Costa Rica for our honeymoon because we heard it was beautiful and when we checked the prices online, it was cheap also. We decided on Fiesta because it was all inclusive and we only paid like 800 per person for hotel and airfare, rental car is another story.....Its a bit of a ways from the airport, but if you rent a car, they take you to your car from the airport and you can drive there yourself. I definately recommend renting a car, but beware...the roads are horrible (potholes everywhere, slow trucks, NO road signs hardly). We got to the hotel and they were already expecting us and i didnt have to do much paperwork, they just gave me the key and we went to our room, it was late at night. Our room was one of the rooms 600 and above, i think room 614, which are supposedly the newer rooms. It was clean, and the sheets were clean also. There wasnt really any bad smells i can remember. they didnt look like they were 'just renovated', the bathroom looked kinda old, but clean. the shower curtain was annoying, its a flimsy piece of fabric that sticks to you the whole time you shower. but the room was clean and agreeable. The grounds were BEAUTIFULLY landscaped, the pools were awesome, and the food was EXCELLENT. We ate and drank so much. The mixed drinks are sooo good, i wish i could have one now. I drank so many 'fiestas'. they have a swim up bar in the pool too. the towel service is good, fresh clean smelling BIG towels for the pool. The towels in the room arent too great though, kinda thin and small. the floors in the room were not carpeted, but tiled. we did not see any bugs or anything, but we did see a huge lizard on the grounds hanging out by the main restaurant all the time, it got so close we took pics of it, right at our table. the beach isnt all that great, we didnt even go in, the water is dark and the sand is kinda not soft, lots of little rocks, its so hard that people were riding bikes on the beach and it barely left tracks in the sand. the italian restaurant wasnt so great, the food was ok, but there is NO air conditioning in it and it was soo hot in there i was sweating. the seafood restaurant was great, but you can only eat there by reservation and only one time, same with the italian one. the main restaurant has a variety of foods, and there is a theme every night, like new orleans night. the food there is just awesome. breakfast was great every morning too. desserts are good, lots to choose from. the people were very friendly to us and most spoke good english. the items in the gift shop are pretty expensive, so make sure you take your swimsuit, tums, and sunscreen with you. they had entertainment almost every night, with variety/comedy shows and shows for kids, but we never really watched them, we would leave the hotel to go on tours and come back late most nights. we stayed for one whole week. the best tour was the Tabacon hot springs and Adrenal Volcano, all in one trip. the Tabacon Resort/hot springs is SOOO BEAUTIFUL, like youre in paradise, lots of picture taking oppurtunities, its at the base of a volcano and the water in the springs it pretty hot, flowing through black rocks and amazing landscaping. i almost wished we were staying at that resort, but they only give you a day pass to use the pools and springs and eat lunch. the drive there alone was beautiful, going through mountains with lots of mist, was like riding through clouds. you get to see so many little villages. our tour guide was so funny too, i forget his name. the Canopy tours are also a MUST DO, that was lots of fun,and you get to eat in this tree-house looking restaurant when youre done and it overlooks like half the country, awesome view. i wish i could go back. it was a GREAT, GREAT value for the money we paid, i still cant get over how cheap it was. the rental car was only "$20 a day" or something cheap like that, but then when you get there, its another story, they charge you all these other charges and the INSURANCE that you MUST buy costs more than renting the car itself, so the total came out to like 350 dollars to rent it. but you definately need the car insurance out there, the roads are just horrendous, oh, and they have almost ZERO ROAD SIGNS that tell you where to go, so you will probably get lost alot too, we just got lucky alot and happened to be going the right way. driving in itself was an adventure out there. but in all, it was a great experience and i would definately go back to that hotel, its pretty much the only all inclusive hotel out there. we also went to this trendy beach called Jaco beach about an hour away from our hotel, i forget the name, but theres lots to do there, and a strip club also, lots of tourists and surfers. i am really glad i chose fiesta and would definately recommend it, i loved it.

We always wanted to see Costa Rica, and visiting the
Fiesta Resort and Casino in Puntarenas lived up to our
wildest expectations. The hotel itself, exotic
atmosphere, the variety of delicious cuisine, and
friendly staff made our stay in the resort pure bliss.
What made the whole experience even more impressive
and enjoyable was the entertainment activities that
they provided. The "Dynamic Duo", Jose, Jeffrey,
Joyce, fantastic dance group, and many others did
their best to make our time in Costa Rica not only
enjoyable, but extremely memorable. We would love to
thank the management of the resort for the joyful
experience that we had.

Just returned from our vacation. We were there Feb. 19-26, 2005. Everything was wonderful!!!!! My husband and I wanted to relax, lay on the beach and veg; Fiesta Resort is perfect for this. Our daughter, 13, met some wonderful people and had a very active vacation. She surfed for her first time, went on the canopy tour, played beach volleyball, water polo, learned to dance the Salsa and played water volleyball. Needless to say see loved Fiesta Resort as well.

We found the food to be more then adequate and just as plentiful. We agree that if you can't find something you like, you don't like much. The cooks were always willing to adjust to our taste and to suggest toppings and mixing of items we wouldn't normally try.

The wildlife is amazing! We saw a toucan, crocodiles, sloth, macaws, iganaus and more birds then I can list.

We enjoyed our room in the resort. We were in the "old" section, but could not find anything to complain about. Every day when our maid came in she left us towels in the shape of animals. My daughter loved it!

Will we go back?-in a heartbeat. Go have fun and relax.

we just arrived back from a 14 day stay at the fiesta resort in puntarenas costa rica and it was a little slice of paradise. the people are what make or break your vacation and the friendly staff at the resort went above and beyond to make our stay an enjoyable experience. our room was very comfortable , clean and very relaxing. we enjoyed sittting on our patio late at night , enjoying a drink and listening to the waves crash into shore. an afternoon siesta in the hammock is also a must. we ventured out on foot on our own to the nearby village of el roble, and felt very safe . we took a taxi into puntarenas a couple of times as well with no problem.. sure, it definately helps to know a little spanish as we were after all in a spanish speaking country. but the locals were more than willing to help us out if we had questions, especially the cab drivers. at the resort the food was excellent, the theme nights were delightfully varied and we enjoyed the seafood and italian al a carte restaurants. had many opportunities to try some of the local dishes and were never disappointed. we took a tour to arenal volcano and the tabacon hot springs where the gardens were breathtaking and our guide was very informative and friendly. the jungle boat tour was very educational as to the different species of birds, trees and of course crocodiles. our guide was a naturalist who could name over 600 species of birds. costa rica is a definate must return vacation spot as there is so much to see and do that one trip does not do it justice.

Boring and run down. Not much to do and nothing pretty to look at. The beach was especially disappointing. The black sand is too hot to walk on during the day and there is no clarity in the water if you brave the sand and make it in. Definitely don't do there if you are expecting a singles scene at all. Better for families and couples. The upside is the accomodating staff. Be sure to have some handle on the language if you plan to visit. Very far from most of the special attractions of Costa Rica. Excursions were a rip off.

Just returned from our third trip to Costa Rica. This time we stayed at the Fiesta All Inclusive Resort in Puntarenas. The staff at the Fiesta we're terrific and the food was excellent. The beds unfortuantly were very uncomfortable for us, small and hard. The beach in this area has dark sand and the water wasn't clear, did not spend alot of time at the beach. The hotel has hugh pools, a bar pool and also a quiet adult pool. The area of Puntarenas is very poor, nothing in the area except for the resort. We took several tours. Manual Antonio Park was alot of fun. Saw many animals, monkeys we're everywhere. The beach at the park was fantastic and beautiful. We also took an all day canopy tour. Rode horses up a mountain and then rode 25 cables down the mountain, this tour was just fantastic, safe and a great experience. We took a tour into a cloud forest to see Paos Volcano. Be sure to wear rain gear and a warm jacket, long pants. It was a beautiful hike, but couldn't see the volcano nor the lake due to the clouds and fog. The interesting thing about Puntarenas is that rivers run into the ocean at that area. These rivers are filled with crocodiles as big as 25 feet long.
We learned that crocodiles will swim into the ocean and can turn up on beaches. We also visited Jaco which we did not like at all. It was a typical surfer/souvinier/tourist town, much younger people may enjoy it.

We had a great time because it was different, but I would not go to the area of Puntarenas again. In previous trips we've been to Playa Conchal, Playa Flamingo and Playa Tambor. All very nice and each place different from the last. The roads have improved alot, but still alot of road driving from the resorts when doing tours. In my opinion if you plan on going to Costa Rica, plan at least 10 to 14 days or more starting in San Jose for 1 night when you arrive. Arenal volcano area for a few nights to experience the hot springs and the volcano erupting at night. A few nights in an area near river raft trips, well worth it and safe even at a rating of 4 and 5. The canopy tour definatly and then a beach area on the northern pacific side, returning to San Jose for a night or two before departing. We have never been to Carribean side. We we're told it's totally different from the rest of Costa Rica with a big Jamacian influence. The town of Limon and many roads we're flooded due to the rains in January.

In conclusion, the people are wonderful, you can drink the water and eat the food without worry. It's not expensive and we have never felt unsafe. We will probably visit Costa Rica again.
