“Absolutely recommendable”

We stayed at Yab Yum for 3 nights. The rooms are great and so is the whole complex of the resort. Everything is clean and people put quite some effort in designing the huts and little houses. It's a very nice place, very quite, very relaxing and beautiful. The yummy breakfast is delivered to your little "terrace" at any time between 8 and 11am and you eat underneath the palm trees. The staff is friendly and we totally enjoyed our stay. The beach is also lovely and quite.

Compared to other "beach huts" that you can rent in Goa, Yab Yum is a pleasant change It is also more expensive that the average backpacker accomodation but that is absolutely worth it.

Yab Yum, is the best place u can find in the North of Goa.the stuff and the howner take really good care of the guests.its absolutely safe.beautifulll room, lot of privacy, an oasi of nature .the beach of ashven is the best of the north, far from tourist spot, but close by with a scooter.
we were there for a month, ive been in many place in goa, but Yab Yum is the best in the north of the region.i suggest to couples, and family, and to who like a class place.
i turned into some problem in anjuna, and the staff of hotel took good care of me and my mum.
is the most clean hotel u can find, bed sheets are new every day.

had a brillant holiday at Yab Yum.The accommadation is unique (we had a massive double bed), spaceous, clean and set in lovely well kept gardens, with good security. We had effective mosquitoe nets and ceiling fan..Breakfasts were great and delivered up to 11:30am.I recommend the masala omelette and porridge, after these you don't need any lunch.
You are literally only meters from the best beach in that part of Goa.You have access to sun beds and a really good lunch and drinks service on the beach.
I'd recommend the "ginger Yum" , helps settle the stomach after too many Kingfishers.
Staff were friendly and helpful, service can be a bit slow, but it's India so just relax.
Don't understand some of the negative reviews ref cost. You get what you pay for !!
Looked at some other accomadtion on the beach, little more than a hut with a matress and shared toilet !!
Good food at good prices at the Paegan bar next door, but don't bother with any of the wine in Goa, terrible and expensive.
La Plage is o.k , but overated.Try Cheeky Monkey at Arombaol beach for cheaper better european style food

Beautifully laid out, right by the beach, very relaxed, good food and good local restaurants near by, best of which is Babu's Huts which served great food and had really friendly staff working there.

We stayed in a cottage for a few nights which was fine, a lot of mozzies though, which really test your patience. Breakfast was included and worth getting up for. My girlfriend was like a fine wine for mozzies and it did get a bit much. We moved to one of the standard pods for the last two nights as we had initially wanted to stay in one of these when we first booked. They look like upside down mutated coconuts. These last two days were terrible. The pods were like a breeding ground for wildlife. Richard Attenborough could have shot an entire series in there. The bathroom was covered in mosquitos which made anything to do with being in the bathroom a very quick and fear inducing process.

Generally I have no problem with insects but this took it to a different level and it ruined the overall experience of Yab Yum. Cockroaches in our bags, many of them. That and being chased in to the sea by a rabid dog who, incidentally, left Yab Yum at the same time as us, however he was at the end of a pole being led away in a van which made me wonder if all dogs really do go to heaven!

It really annoys me sometimes when people complain about the 'mosquitos' or the 'backpacker' style bathrooms

if anyone had forgotten this place is in Goa in India. India has mosquitos. If you don't like them then you shouldn't go to India. we stayed in a family dome which had great mosquito nets and I have to agree that the only time we ever came accross them was between 5pm-6.30pm. We therefore made the decision to use mosquito repellent. It's not too much of an issue

The bathrooms were fantastic. To have hot water is actually a luxury in 'hut' style accommodation in Goa. Again it depends on what your expectations are on accommodation in Goa. If you want western style accommodation and concrete hotels with A/C then Yab Yum is not for you. In fact Goa and India isn't for you

If you want funky accommodation on a great beach with a relaxed atmosphere then Yab Yub has it all. The area is very quiet compared to Palolem beach so we did both. We found Yab Yum much more relaxed, very quiet, staff were very friendly, and breakfast served outside our 'pod' each morning was a nice start to the day

I would definately recommend this place to couples and young families who want a quiet break. There are a couple of restaurants both to the left and right of Yab Yum along the beach and we found all of them very good so the options are fine. We only stayed here for 6 nights and this was enough as we wanted to party a little over NYE and that is why we went to Palolem.

After travelling around south India for more then three weeks, we could only say that this place is very overpriced. It has a very nice location on one of the best beaches in Goa but the rest is ...

The beach is wonderful and very friendly for all types of activies and ages if it wasn't for all the dogs. Sometimes the kids didn't dare to go down to the water bacause of the dogs following them and more or less attacking them. Please, get rid of the dogs!

The domes didn't really look like the pictures on the website. You get the impression that they are light and fresh but instead they are very dark and stuffy. Yes, you could (barely) open the shutters to get some air and (limited) light in, but you also got all the mosquitos in at the same time. What the pictures on the website also didn't show was the tarpaulins on all the domes. This was to prevent the rain to come in (which it did anyway). As a side effect, this also made the air in the domes to be a bit muggy.

The beakfast was just about OK, but took very long time to deliver. Not a big range of different choises and nothing that was surprisingly good.

The service at the front desk was OK, but make sure you leave your laundery in a laundery bag, otherwise it might disappear. They also gave accurate compensation for a night when the rain came in to the dome

The co-operation with the local cab company was good with nice and friendly drivers.

If we are going back to Ashvem beach, we would pic another place to stay at.

thanks for taking time to review us -
Dogs on beaches - can be seen anywhere in India but they've never been aggressive at Ashvem, to be fair to them! We think the issue's a bit overstated here.
Mosquitoes - we supply 5 anti-mosquito solutions: repellent, nets, plug-ins etc.. and they don't exclusively fly around at Yab Yum!
Problems we could have dealt with better -
Rain: tarpaulins stayed on for a month after opening as monsoon-level showers continued much later in 2010 (climate change?!). We are changing our dome designs to make them doubly watertight.
Breakfast - we have impressed on our kitchen that replacing normal toast with pitta bread is not acceptable. Our breakfasts generally get very good feedback but understandably were below par while this guest visited.
Regarding the price issue - these guests paid just under 20 euros per night per person inc. breakfast, right on the beach, this is slightly cheaper than all our competitors in the area.
