Beach is very calm and not crowded at all. Water is clean.
Spent one whole night lying on the sunbed and drinking beer with friends :)

The beach was clean like paradise, crowd is excellent and the stunning view of sunrise and sunset. At 12 midnight, I was lucky enough to witness a yellow moon and the moonlight bouncing on the water, it was closest to a moon set, which I never experienced before in my life. The silence on the shore made it all the more refreshing.

We stayed in Mandrem at the beginning of November. If you are after peace and quiet come here. It's a great long beach and the resort is very friendly with a few nice restaurants. I do get the feeling it will become busier in the peak season though as the place looks like the season hasn't even barely started

Mandrem is no longer the wonderful secret hidden from most...and the crowds are increasing a bit...but still very quiet and beautiful compared to other North-Goa beaches. Head out to this place if you want to relax and chill away from the hustle-bustle and noise of the cities. The usnrise and sunset views are spectacular and you feel blessed with the peace and beauty of nature.

During my first visit in 2010- I was one of the rare Indians visiting this place...but in 2011 and 2012 saw a lot more Indian tourists.

Pros:
1. Peaceful place
2. Clean beach
3. Less no. of hawkers
4. Friendly locals

Cons
1. Nothing much - but if you are looking for a loud, party-scene kind of ambience this is not your place
2. There are a fair amount of Russians living around here - in some restaurants you'll find the service a tad discriminatory towards Indians (as in you wait a long time to be served) - but note this is only in some shacks..in the majority of places you will not find it.

We, two women in their best age (47 and 51), stayed at Ashiyana for two weeks. One of us stayed there for the second time. We can really recommend the place, which is quite unique in Goa if you like the following features: Very skilful and highly professional daily yoga practice in wonderful surroundings (inside and outside), beautifully arranged garden areas with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere, sandy and unpretentious yet beautiful long beach at five minutes walk from the resort, including the passing of an extremely romantic pedestrian bridge, healthy food and wonderful teas and drinking water (beverages available throughout the day), delicious fresh fruits for breakfast, open air eating areas, very nice and friendly staff, down-to-earth handling of issues, very helpful hotel management, spacious rooms, individually decorated and shaped, some of which are very comfy and very much aesthetically pleasing. During our last stay at the resort, we booked one of the newly launched luxury suites and very much appreciated the huge rooms we had for ourselves in total privacy. We also very much appreciated the fact that the tap water was clean (we brushed our teeth with it without any problems). Last but not least we would like to especially mention the nice massage and treatments available at the resort, which we enjoyed almost every day. Although more expensive than outside the resort, the treatments in our view were worth the money as they definitely were more professional than the ones you can get in the neighbourhood. All in all, we would recommend staying at Ashiyana if you wish to have a nice, restorative and totally relaxed stay without having to worry about anything. Just go there, get accustomed to the beauty of the place, the sweet scent in the air and allow yourself to enjoy that little corner of paradise! We will definitely go there again.
