We found this place whilst searching for a ski area that was good for beginners and intermediates. The Guest House in a great location, it's tucked away from the main road so there's no noise from passing cars (or the snowplough truck!) and it's only 2 minutes drive from the Vallorcine bubble lift which takes you up into Tete de Balme.

Helen & Steve are also very welcoming and you feel right at home in no time. There is a common living area which has a very warm log burner that makes the room nice and cosy! Close by are some tasty restaurants (make sure to reserve a table, Helen was kind enough to make reservations for us)

And if you're thinking of staying here and are struggling to decide which books to pack, don't! The Guest house has sooooo many books & magazines about the house to choose from you'll not know where to start!

Room Tip: We stayed in a room with a separate bathroom (still our own, since other rooms had their own). Maybe for convenience ask if you can get a room with a bathroom.

This was our 2nd stay at The Guesthouse Chamonix and we wish we could visit every year. We love the location, the rooms and the breakfast. The guesthouse truly feels like home and we are so comfortable that we never want to leave. Helen and Steve are helpful, friendly and make their guests feel like family. I highly recommend The Guesthouse to anyone that visits the Chamonix area; in winter or summer. They will not be disappointed.

Home from home In the mountains. I have been coming here each year since the chalet was extensively refurbished in 2010 to a very high standard. Steve & Helen are impeccable hosts and nothing is too much trouble. Catered, Self catered, or just B&B this is a great base, and with their extensive knowledge of the region advice on conditions and where to go winter or summer is a huge asset. I highly recommend The Guest House.

I love to try different ski resorts and accommodation each winter but I have to admit to coming back again and again to the chalets that Steve and Helen own and their place in Vallorcine is the best yet. Helen's cuisine and attentiveness never fails to impress and Steve's recommendations are always spot on.

The Chalet itself is in a beautiful "get away from it all" setting, which just makes you want to slow down but its easy access to all the Chamonix ski areas. My job involves travelling and staying in many different places but I always look forward to the fab rooms at the Guest House, totally clean wonderfully arranged and stunningly silent to fall asleep in.

Now that I have a family, we particularly enjoyed the family area about a mile away and also the learner slopes of La Tour. We went with friends and their two sons, who want to go again, and the feeling that we could relax at any time given the lovely informal way the chalet is run around the guest was hugely welcome.

We'll be booking again...

We were few friends spendinga long weekend in chamonix valley. The guest house is fantastic, especially if one books all the 3 top floor bedrooms (3 baths also). The living room is very well appointed, fireplace etc. Helen and Steve - the hosts - have done anything to make us feel at home, cooking with style and giving us good tips on ski. The chalet is located in a tiny village about 10 mins drive from argentiere and even better 1h away from verbier if wants to explore both.
