“Traditional French accommodation”
Reviewed August 28, 2012

Exactly what I was looking for our 2 night break, a traditional French property with traditional decor. Very friendly owner, exceptionally clean well looked after rooms with the attention to detail not normally found in France.
Travelling on motorbikes, the secure parking was a bonus in their garden.
Only except cash payment so don't get caught out, I did.

Room Tip: Minor road noise to some rooms, although good double glazing to these rooms, you need to close windo...

breakfast was delicious! Everything home made, fresh fruit, croissants and bread still warm...
Rooms were silent, clean and nice interior.
Location is perfect, between omaha and utah beach. Next to a big road, but no noice.
Great service

We stayed for two nights at this B & B in Carentan, using it as our base to visit the D-Day beaches. Our room was large with two beds and a nice bathroom. There were a number of small amenities in the bathroom to make our stay more enjoyable. The bed was reasonably comfortable (we both have bad backs). The shower was good. There is a computer for the use of the patrons. Also, we were allowed to keep some fruit in a small refrigerator in the dining area. No food is permitted in the rooms. It was quiet at night.
We enjoyed having breakfast in the room facing the lovely garden and really liked all the delicous homemade goodies as well as the croissants. The homemade rolls were especially memorable.
The hostess, Nancy was a very friendly, chatty person who gave out all sorts of helpful information about dining, driving directions and just about anything else you might want to know about the area. Her husband was also very nice.
My only complaint about our room (the one with numerous cherubs in it) was the flloor covering. It was a woven mat which was rather hard on my bare feet. So, I just wore slippers. It wasn't a major drawback.
All in all, this was a lovely place to stay. I would recommend it.

Room Tip: Don't know the name of our room, but it looked like a sort of honeymoon suite with cherub decora...

We stayed 2 nights while on a self-guided cycling tour. The operator had made our reservations for us, so I hadn’t done any previous research on where to stay (unusual for me). What a great choice our operator made! Our hostess, Nancy, offered outstandingly good service and because of this we would highly recommend staying here. Not only did she graciously help us with anything we needed, but she offered to do extra things, like some laundry, and making dinner reservations, and setting up a transport to the restaurant for us. Our room was very comfortable and we liked the traditional décor. There was a pot for heating water in the room and free internet available. We enjoyed the homemade cakes, breads, assorted fruit jams, and yogurt at breakfast in addition to the croissant, juice, and coffee. It was served in a pleasant dining room with view onto the rear garden. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay. We really enjoyed talking with Nancy and her hospitality made it a memorable visit.

We stayed a couple of nights in this B&B and enjoyed it very much. Nice, cosy room with large, good bed and excellent breakfast with everything homemade (which isn't very common in France...unfortunately). An excellent place from which you can visit all the main D-Day sights. Nancy is a great hostess and speaks fluent English. Would definitely recommend this place.

Room Tip: if you want a quiet night, ask for a room at the garden side. The road in front can be noisy if you...

Stayed two nights and found it quaint and peaceful. We used this as 'home base' while touring the Normandy WWII sites and landing objectives. Carentan is almost in the middle of everything. There was free off street parking.
Nancy the host was very friendly and chatty with us and offered wonderful suggestions for dinner. The breakfast was wonderful, fresh croissants, homemade yogurt, fresh OJ and coffee.
The room was enormous even by US standards as was the bathroom. The bed was super comfy as were the linens. The sun stays up until about 10 pm and comes up around 5 so there are shutters to keep it dark in the room. The hardwood floors are squeaky and the walls are somewhat thin so you have to be considerate of other guests.
The B&B is well within walking distance of the center of town, about 10 minutes max. There is a carrefour supermarket down the street, cheapest gas around.
Couple of things to be aware of: you have to check in between 6pm and 8 pm. Carentan is a very small town, all the restaurants close by 10pm, unlike the bigger cities. The rooms do not lock, so if you are worried about things like that you may be uncomfortable. The B&B does not provide soap or shampoo unlike US B&Bs but Nancy got us a bar.
I would recommend a stay here whole-heartedly.

The owner and operator, Nancy, was very friendly and courteous. She & her husband made great hosts. Since it was the low season when we visited, we had the place to ourselves, but I'm sure Nancy treats all of her guests with the same hospitality we received. Since we were staying more than one night, we had quite heavy suitcases with us & Nancy offered to pick us up at the train from Paris, which was very helpful. The breakfast each morning was delicious. Because of the such nice weather we had, I took advantage of one of the bikes that are available and I made a short ride to the "Dead Man's Corner" museum which took about a half hour on bike. It was well worth it. I would recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing and hospitable retreat. Close to any of the D-Day beaches and we used this has our "home base" while exploring the history of the area. Carentan itself was a quiet, yet busy small town and this B&B was just a block or two from the center of town-well within walking distance. In summary you will not be disappointed by this B&B. It is one of the better I have ever stayed in.
