We have passed through the town of Belleek many many times on our way to and from Donegal. I have often looked with interest at the 'pottery' building, thinking that sometime I'll visit. Today at about 1 o'clock, we pulled into the car-park and went inside.
The notice inside the door gave the time of the next tour - 1345. Perfect timing, as that gave us time to have a snack. The restaurant had a Euro and Dollars accepted notice. Great idea.
Service in the restaurant was friendly and efficient even though it was very busy.
The muffins were excellent - try the lemon and coconut!
The tour began promptly and was led by Joanna who gave a very informative, knowledgeable and comprehensive tour. There were about 10 people in our group.
Some of the older style Beleek Pottery pieces are, without question, dated, but they must appeal to a large market if they are still being made and sold.
My preference is for the newer 'living' range with cool pale cream finish and strikingly beautiful 21st century design. So something for everyone's taste.
We also took time to visit the museum and the gift shop.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this attraction: it is a really nice way to spend a couple of hours
