Newmoor Park
Ranked #1 of 23 Launceston B&B and Inns
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Location: just off the A30 and easy to find. Very pretty location - right on the river Tamar. Close enough to Launceston (under 10 mins drive) but a world away. Great base for North and central Cornwall and Dartmoor.

Building: the house is prettier than in the pictures and the grounds are large and beautiful. The B&B is right on the river Tamar. The whole place is very green; lovely flowers in the gardens with ducks, mallards etc. in the ponds. The kind of place you want to live in and write a book.

Rooms: very very clean and comfortable. The linen is as good as the other reviewers have raved about. In the pics there is a room with a proper balcony overlooking the gardens which must be great but room we stayed in - with the juliet balcony room on the top floor - is brilliant, mainly because of stunning views of the river Tamar. It is also quite large. There are also a lot of nice little touches like fudge in the rooms and biscuits etc.

Breakfast: delicious, home-made and fresh. Only risk is that you may end up over-eating!

The water is used from the site, a lot of the food is local and sourced from their own garden and eggs from their hens etc. If the words renewable, self-sufficient, organic etc. are important to you then Newmoor Park ticks all those boxes.

Owners: friendly and helpful. Made our stay very comfortable.

Room Tip: The juliet balcony room is large and has stunning view of the river.

I would like to keep this place quiet so we could always get a room but it would be totally unfair to the owners!! They are fantastic hosts and have obviously got a good eye for detail and homely comforts. Our room was immaculate, warm and with all the little touches already mentioned in previous reviews, including wine glasses and bottle opener.
The grounds are great for having a wander or a sit by the river and watch the ducks and chickens. Children are catered for with plenty of room for them to run around away from the house and we even noticed a trampoline!
It was nice to hear from Martyn and Joseph how they had created such a relaxing and interesting guest house and what the future holds for Newmoor Park whilst having our breakfast freshly cooked.
We stayed one night for business but intend to return with our son for a longer stay in the very near future.

Room Tip: We had the room with the balcony and it was wonderful to sit and have coffee on arrival. Even better...

We sort of knew what to expect from previous reviews, but nothing prepared us for the immaculate house and very warm welcome we received. Within a very few minutes of arrival Joseph served tea and biscuits to our private balcony overlooking the grounds. The weather showed Devon & Cornwall at their very best. Dartmoor was stunning. Back to Newmoor Park, no description can really do it justice: acres of grounds overlooking the Tamar, a platform in the trees, trampoline and tree swing, ponds, unusual plants and trees, a picturesque section of old railway embankment, chickens, dogs and a sleepy cat (all kept well under control) it just goes on and on (Yurts are coming soon)! Joseph and Martyn are the perfect hosts, attentive without being overbearing. Breakfast was delicious. Many thanks guys, we'll be back! Best Wishes, Pete and Anne.

My wife and I stayed at Newmoor Park on our recent trip to Cornwall. You could not ask for better accommodations! Martyn and Joseph are the perfect host. Our room was spotless. We have never stayed at a cleaner place. Such care was taken from Devon fudge left in the room to making sure that we had a bottle of fresh drinking water and milk for tea and coffee each evening. The breakfast was fantastic as well. Freshly made as you chatted with the guys in the morning. Their place is just outside Launceston and sits on the river Tamar. Our room had a view of the river and in the evening, you can hear the water running and the occasional owl calling. They have 9 acres of land, that weather permitting you can explore. If you are traveling to this part of Cornwall or Devon, do not miss the opportunity to stay here!

Difficult to fault. We were looked after very well. Comfortable room with good bed, arm chairs and very good black out curtains. Breakfast cooked to order. Fudge and biscuits in room with a thermos of fresh milk (choice of fat content which is not common). Good grounds but it was wet so we were not able to enjoy fully.

What a wonderful find. The accommodation is stylish, immaculate and very comfortable. Our hosts couldn't have been more welcoming and the breakfast has kept us full all day. The property is set in beautiful grounds -we will have to go back to have more time to explore. What was intended as an overnight break from driving resulted in a wonderfully luxurious break. Many thanks!

Having stayed at Newmoor Park we knew what to expect and the stay, albeit far too short, did not disappoint. We were even given a 'tour' of the grounds before we left. Newmoor Park provides an ideal stopping off point on the way to Cornwall and Joseph and Martyn go out of their way to make you fell at home. Breakfasts are wonderfull and we were even given some eggs to take with us (they were much appreciated a few days later). Can't wait until November!

Room Tip: All the rooms are of an equally high standards
