“Good hotel, but the spa is overpriced”
Reviewed June 6, 2006

Termes Montbrio, was frightfully expensive for what was offered. The service was friendly. The doorman/porter very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was reasonable, but out of season, in the month of June, there is no service at all at the free pool in the garden. Get your towel from reception and go to the bar to get a soft drink etc. The room and bathroom were very good and kept meticulously. But, the spa is overpriced and below standard. The treatments that we had were the Marc Anthony and Cleopatra. Advertised as one day treatments with all the trimmings. Yes everything that was described in the brochure was given, but with great haste and with little attention. The worst treatment they have is the machine they call the Aquafly, a downright rip-of. As the hotel is located in the middle of absolutely nowhere they rely on the spa for their business. The spa is not to be recommended so if you intend to stay there you are warned. Also check the bill very carefully as the spa’s receptionist is either not to bright or too bright. I did not figure it out and really don’t care to either, but the bill was full of add on’s that did not belong there.

Having spent three hectic days in Barcelona, spending a few days at this hotel was heavenly: peaceful luxury. The rooms and service were impeccable and it has beautiful grounds and a great spa, so is a perfect location to unwind. We also used it as a base for visiting some of the vineyards in the region.

Stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a really relaxing time. Room was comfortable, and great view of the back of the hotel - all we could hear was the birds as it was so peaceful.

Fantastic fixed price three course meal at the Gaudi restaurant, worked out at about £23 and the service was excellent.

My only gripe is that it was not made entirely clear how you went about accessing the spa. When we did, to our horror we discovered admission was not included in the cost of the hotel room but was instead subject to an additional charge of 26 euros each! That doesn't give you access all day, just during either the 10:30-2pm or 4:30pm-8pm session.

Don't get me wrong, the spa was nice, but it was no better than a really good leisure centre, and they don't charge £20 to get in!

There is an outdoor swimming pool though, and that is free.

Overall a lovely place in a smashing location with great service, but prepare to get your wallet/purse out if you want to use the spa!

Absolutely fantastic hotel, extensive gardens, fountains & waterfalls.
We went for daughters 18th birthday and thorughly enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly & helpful even though we didn't speak very much Spanish. Bedrooms bathrooms very comfortable and of a high standard.
Breakfast/restaurant food 1st class. Spa facilities professional and pools excellent. Very relaxing. Town unspoilt by tourism. We would highly recommend this hotel.
