“Looking for peace and beauty, this is where you'll find it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 6, 2010

As a frequent traveler to Mui Ne, I often went out of my way to enjoy a fresh margharita at the bar by the sea. I found the setting of the resort extraordinary, spacious, perfectly well maintained, low-key, friendly and besides that, they made the best cocktails from Hanoi to Saigon. But five weeks ago, when I broke my leg in a motor cycle accident, and couldn't stay in my 3rd floor apartment for a month, I decided to leave Saigon for Mui Ne and to settle in at the Pandanus Resort to recover. It was the only place I knew that had wheel chair accessibility. During my extended stay, everyone was extremely friendly, helpful, always willing to assist, and spoke enough english to have a conversation. And being that I couldn't get around town, I had all my meals at the Resort and loved it. After my stay, I felt incredibly healthy and positive for someone who had been sitting around with a broken leg for a month. It's my new favorite in Mui Né.

We stayed in the Pandanus Resort for almost one week in a junior suit.

Be aware of the fact that you have to drive 5 to 6 hourse from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne.

The resort is 12km out of that "mui ne" where all the others resorts are. Pandanus provides free shuttel bus to this area several times a day. But book in advance if you plan to go. You can take a bike on a first come first serbe basis for free. The sanddunes are just a 5min walk away from the resort.

The room is big and the bathroom as well. The room is really ok but nothing special. On the balcony are two sunbeds. Even we felt comfortable in the room we didn't slept very well. It was hot without AC and cold with AC. The blanket is to thick and the pillows to hard.

The environment of the resort is well kept. The garden, the flowers and the dikes are nice.

The pool area is big and the pool itself is big aswell. Unfortunately the pool isn't deeper than 1.5m.
The sea was very rough and every day was windy. Perfect conditions for Kite Surfing. Don't expect a calm and peacful sea everyday to swim in. There are sunbeds and umbrellas at the beach as well. The resort has a private beach. Beach towels are provided.

The staff was ok. The waiters in the yellow shirt speak a good english. The waiters in the green shirts do hardly understand you. They are friendly but not always very motivated. The manager iself is a nice person. Everyday (except Sunday) there's a reception with wine and cheese for meet and great with the new arrivals.

The breakfast buffet is perfect. The BBQ twice a week at the poolside is perfect as well. The lunch and dinner menu is ok, and the food is ok. Try the pho with beef.

Free Wi-Fi and a free business center as well.

Complementary tennis court. You can take rakets and balls at the reception. Unfortunately we couldn't play two evenings because the resort gardeners made fire near the court and the smoke was all over the court.

There's a small gym.

We stayed at the hotel the first 2 weeks of February. The hotel is beautiful, the gardens are stunning, and the pool is amazing. I was also very positively surprised by the beach, which turned out to be beautiful, clean and very much fun (the waves contribute to that fact). There were no fishing boats to be seen, as a contrast to the many photos I saw from the hotel before I went.

I was a bit disapointed of the bungalows, I must say I expected a bit more of them. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable and big. But for a two week's stay the capacity for placing clothes for two persons was a joke. There was one closet in the room, with something like 10 hangers, no drawers and no shelves. I ended up "living" in my suitcase, not comfortable for a two week's stay. There is no tub in the bathroom, and the water pressure in the shower is very weak, so it took forever to wash my hair. The TV-reception was also very bad, we couldn't watch tv at all. We complained about it a copule of times, but they were not able to do anything about it. I don't usually need a TV in my hotel room, but when you stay for such a long period of time, it would be nice to stay in a night and watch a movie.

Apart from this, the hotel was absolutely excellent. It is such a pearl of peace and relaxation, there were not many children's families, and thereby not much noise around the pool area. (Except for the last couple of days when tet (new years) was celebrated, and a lot of Asian families came to stay at the hotel for their holiday). We loved the location, because it was so quiet and far off from the rest of Ham Thien-beach. We went to Ham Thien for eating at nighttime, but were very happy to come home to quiet Pandanus at nights, as Ham Thien was so crowded. The taxis are really cheap, so it's no big deal living away from the tourist area, and nothing beats spending time alone at an almost vacant beach.

Eating lunch at the hotel was no problem for us, the prices are fairly reasonable and the menu ok, however we missed more local food and a bit more variety. The breakfast buffet is very nice!

Wine and cheese with manager Steve is a must, he is such a nice man, who is always eager to help. (Don't miss the wine and cheese-cat, either, it comes everyday at 7 sharp). The band Stardust is excellent at entertaining in the nights and for barbecues, don't miss them! The staff is in general very nice and polite. The spa is very good as well, I had a couple of heavenly massages.

The free shuttle-buses are really good. Dennis, Steve's right hand, took us to the local fishing boats one early morning, he showed us the huge fishing market and a Hindu temple, and the tour was for free! The hotel also shuttled us to and from beautiful fairy springs river for free. Be aware of the sand-flies surrounding the hotel however, I was almost eaten up, so put on good mosquito-cream!

If you value peace and tranquillity, extensive well maintained grounds, light and airy buildings and a delightful beach front setting - all within easy striking distance of a plethora of restaurants, bars and other facilities then the Pandanus Resort is for you.
The resort is well run by General manager Steve Raymond and his assistant Dennis. They are both very visible around the hotel and constantly involved with their guests. Unsurprisingly with this degree of hands-on management the level of service and the attitude of the staff leaves little to be desired.
We stayed in a Garden View Bungalow which afforded views of the well tended grounds and the sea. The bungalows are spacious, comfortably furnished and clean. The only criticism is that the terrace is equipped with inappropriate reclining lounger seats rather than standard chairs.
The pool is large and with its island feature attractively designed. Sunbeds are plentiful - round the pool, under the palms in the gardens back of the beach and out on the beach front itself. The beach is kept clean and swimming in the waves is exhilarating - particularly in the afternoon when the wind tends to strengthen.
The resort provides a number of complementary facilities for guests. These include:-
a) Free internet usage - and download printing
b) Tennis court usage with equipment
c) Bicycles
d) Early morning trip to Mui Ne to see the night’s fishing catch landed and a visit to the market
e) Shuttle bus service into (and back from) Ham Tien. This is the main strip about 12km distant (normally referred to as Mui Ne) where the main tourist facilities are located. Just one caveat the capacity per trip is limited to 11 places and demand is high. So if you are interested it pays to book well in advance. Should you miss the shuttle the local bus which runs about every ½ hour up until 22:00 hours stops just outside the hotel and provides a much cheaper option than a taxi.
Can’t comment about the food other than breakfast as we went into Ham Tien for dinner each evening. Breakfast is however fine with a wide selection of both local and international options.
All in all we believe that the hotel offers excellent value for money and we would happily return.

Just back from a 2 week stay at the Pandanus. We spent a lot of time on reading others experiences from Tripadvisor before deciding for the Pandanus. The 6 hour bus drive from the airport after spending 12 hours on a flight was painful. Off course we knew this in advance but must admit that that the bus drive was a nightmare due to the heavy heavy traffic in Ho Chi Minh. Think we spent the first 2 hours driving 10 kilometers. Arriving at the Pandanus we were amazed about the lovely setting. The hotel has no doors (except for the rooms) so it is open 24 hrs a day 365 days a year which we found amazing. The hotel is placed on a very big ground which is perfectly kept by the staff. It is one of the most beautiful gardens i have seen in a hotel. The room was good but nothing spectacular but it had what we needed.
The pool is huge and beautiful. Never a problem in getting a sunbed and the pool was very cleen all the time. The beach is stunning and i spent many hours walking up and down. The sea is a bit rough and the area a bit windy but we loved this as it kept the temperature to a human level.
The general manager Steve is a great guy who does whatever it takes to get his guests to feel at home with great help from his "assistant" Dennis who helped us with different questions. They host wine and cheese receptions 6 times a week. We didnt use it much as we played tennis on the complimentary tennis court most days in that time frame. The court is well kept and you can borrow free equipment at the reception. The rackets are old but who to complain when it is free???
Not everything was perfect. The location of the hotel surprised us a bit even after reading all of the other reviews. The hotel is a good 12 kilometeres from the center of HamTiem where all the shops and restaurants are. The hotel is placed just outside the city of Mui Ne which we had hoped from reading reviews would have some nice restaurants and would be a city to walk to in the evenings but that didnt turn out to be. This ment that we had to eat more at the hotel than what we planned and unfortunately the food at the hotel was not what we had hoped for. Especially the menu at the pool bar for lunch was boring and tasteless. After a few days we didnt really look forward to eating lunch. We had some tummy problems in the start of our holiday and i will not blame the hotel for that as we cant be sure we got it from the food. But a few days into our stay and we both felt better again i ordered some chicken for lunch which i especially asked to be cooked well done it came back frozen in the middle. That did it for me and i only ordered fruit and things i knew couldnt make me sick the rest of the holiday for lunch. In the evenings we took the free shuttle or a taxi when the shuttle was full. Great thing that the hotel provide the shuttle.
Another thing which we found frustrating was the amount of sand flies in the hotel. They were really attacking everybody and they left mosquito looking bites all over our bodies. My girlfriend counted 25 bites on my back alone after a few days. You can get some creme in the reception but it didnt really help us. The hotels own webpage says it has a fully equiped fitnessroom. I will say that it depends on your interpretation of the word fully equiped but i was disappointed.
Generally i think Steve and his team is running a great hotel with a lot of great things but we will most likely not come back due to the long drive from the hotel, the location and the quality of the food. I will recommend everybody to visit the hotel if they can live with the drive. If you want peace and quiet you dont get a better hotel than the Pandanus.

If you want a very quiet resort, directly on the beach then this is for you. It is set out of the way (near the red sand dunes) which is about 10-15 mins from the lively area. Taxis are easy and cheap but it is not the place you can stroll out for dinner. There are a few places around but they are nothing special. The resort itself is very well maintained, yes the gym is bad but you can always run on the beach! Some of the staff are lovely and very helpful while others (particularly by the pool are not so friendly). We sat for some time waiting for menus etc. If you are a food lover, this resort is not for you. The menu is very limited and gets boring after a day. There is barely any vietnamese food and what they have is not very good. Due to tummy issues we ended up having to eat there more than we would have liked. The food and drinks are also much more expensive than you get outside of the resort so it is worth the taxi ride to get to better food and cheaper prices. The resort is very good at putting on shuttle buses (although we never managed to use them as they were always full!) but they did put on a free trip and from the fairy springs and a tour around mui ne village, both are very good trips to do.

The rooms were good, clean and specious although watch out for the sprinklers and your towels and swimming costumes on the balcony!

If you stay here, make sure you go onto the beach in the morning. There is a lovely woman selling fruit and pearls! We saw her most days and she was very pleased with our trade!

If you choose here, you will have a lovely time but don't expect much to happen in the evenings, other than the house band. They are good but don;t stay late so everyone is in bed early!

I would recommend this hotel.

We were upgraded to a bungalow for only an additional $15/night. Staff directly involved with guests are a little cool, with the exception being Vingh the doorman, he's awesome and informative. Our room was spacious and clean, very comfortable and private with a glimpse of the ocean. The grounds crew and cleaning staff are constantly working keeping the place beautiful. Beach out front is kept clean, ocean a little rough, but fun to play in. No vendors bothering you. A little out of the way, but we prefer quiet and a free shuttle is provided to Mui Ne if you had the desire to venture out of the resort. Breakfast buffet was very good.
