“A short visit to Vietnam”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

It was some distance outside mui ne but the hotel did provide a free shuttle bus. The food was very good and not too expensive. The staff were very friendly and enjoyed chatting and sharing useful information about the area. Rosslini Yamba the guest relations officer was extremely helpful when problems arose. The swimming pool was great fun and not too deep. We had a suit it was beautiful and a lovely view over the gardens and beach. I did not go in the sea as it seemed a bit dangerous. This hotel was paradise and I loved it.

Room Tip: The suits were very big and tastefully decorated.

Elizabeth,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of the Pandanus Resort and thank you for staying with us.

As I have said many times, the Pandanus Resort is located in Mui Ne on the east side of the cape (Mui means 'cape' in Vietnamese). The town of Mui Ne is only one kilometer from the resort and covers the entire west side of the cape. The area that our shuttle serves is not Mui Ne ward, but rather Ham Tien ward. This is the ward where more than half of the resorts are located. Many resorts and restaurants there use the name Mui Ne for marketing as most tourists know the name, but their address is on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, Ham Tien, Phan Thiet. Our address is Quarter 5, Mui Ne, Phan Thiet.

We spent two days here but it should ave been longer!
Set in a beautiful garden with a fabulous pool the resort has a lot going for it. The architecture of the buildings, attention to detail by the staff and the friendliness of all the hotel workers was much appreciated. As it was the off-season the water sport activities were not running, the sea state and winds not being very friendly, but beach was very clean and the views out from the beachside loungers toward the red dunes is great. Access to the red dunes is a 5 minute walk and is a must do. There are many local restaurants and stores within easy walking distance. The resort provides a limited shuttle service to the nearby town and other attractions.
Can highly recommend this hotel if you need a little bit of luxury on your Vietnam holiday!

My wife and I visited Pandanus resort and we truly loved the place. We stayed in a bungalow near very large and beautiful pool. Bungalows and other buildings are surrounded by very well kept garden with lots of flowers and palm trees. The feeling at Pandanus is pleasant and tranquil and the staff was really friendly and helpful. We loved the wine and cheese session which is organized daily beside the pool and hosted by the resort manager. We tried also the tennis court and used hotel bikes to go to red sand dunes, which are really close. We can truly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a place for perfect holiday.

Room Tip: Bungalows are really nice and located in garden.

We were thoroughly dissapointed with the Pandanus resort we ended up not staying there at all. Reception staff were rude, unhelpful and uninterested (something we had not experienced at all during our stay in Vietnam where customer service is usually outstanding). The hotel mentions it is only 1km from Mui Ne however they are actually referring to the village and not main strip of beach whick is about 10km away and a 15 minute taxi ride. The hotel said it had a shuttle service however this is highly irregular. Due to it's location right by the fishing village there was a strong smell of fish lingering over the hotel from the fish sauce factories near by. The beach is also dissapointing as it is a small strip which is muddy and dirty (not like the 14km beach where the main resorts are) with all the fishing boats close by. The food was over cooked and very highly priced. We decided to cut our losses and ended up checking out before we spent the night, instead staying at the Mia Mui Ne Resort which we would highly recommend and is at a similar price to Pandanus.

Room Tip: The garden rooms did look better than our standard suite.

GM1186338,

I'm very sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with our front office staff when checking in. I'm not quite sure why this happened, as most guests mention that our staff are very friendly. However, I will use your review as a training tool to remind the staff that they must always treat guests with the utmost courtesy.

There is nothing in the description of our location which is incorrect or misleading, as you intimated. We are located in Mui Ne, on the east side of the cape. (The word Mui in Vietnamese means cape) The town of Mui Ne, with many shops and restaurants and a population of 22,000, is just over one kilometer from the resort. The Mia Resort, on the other hand, is ten kilometers from Mui Ne and is located in a separate ward of Phan Thiet called Ham Tien. Using the name Mui Ne in their title is a marketing tool, not a description of their location.

Our beach is not muddy, but rather is made up of white sand. It is true that the fishing boats are docked off-shore on the east side of the cape in the summer months, but when the wind changes at the end of September, they move back to the west side of the cape. Sometimes there is a smell of fish that wafts towards the Pandanus Resort from the area of the beach where the fish are unloaded from the boats this time of year, but there are no fish sauce factories nearby and the smell is neither strong nor incessant.

You did not mention what items in our restaurant may have been overcooked, so I'm unable to use your comment to help our chef improve our food quality. As for the prices in our restaurant, the prices in Sandals restaurant at the Mia Resort are significantly higher than ours.

I'm sorry that you decided not to stay with us. However, from the tenor of your remarks, it sounds like you wanted to be in the center of the Ham Tien tourist strip, rather than in Mui Ne. There is certainly no dearth of restaurants and shops near the Pandanus, so I'm not quite sure why you felt that our location was not good,

I wish, instead that you had stayed long enough to attend our wine and cheese reception, so that I might have had the opportunity to meet you and describe all of the things that one might do in our area.

Me and my friend decided to stay here because of the location, here's so close to RED SAND DUNE and I think I chose the right choice, I can walk to red sand dune from here in five minute. For our trip that has short time this help so much. Also I got very warmth welcome here, all staff gave me good advice for trips and take care so well. The atmosphere was good and very relaxing. Unfortunately I can stay here just for 1 day or it could be more relax, but this's still so good and I'll be back for sure. :)

I've been here several times over the years, and have always enjoyed it. Start your day with an amazing breakfast buffet. Hit the pool - one of the best in Vietnam. Enjoy a drink overlooking the ocean. Maybe meet the GM and some guests at the wine bar for wine and cheese or sundowners. Enjoy a dinner seafood buffet. Nice thing here is that it is just a bit removed from the rather chaotic tourist strip on the main drag (which tends to get noisy with discos etc). Staff are incredibly friendly and go the extra mile. A little bonus is the traditional Cham band that plays in the afternoon in the lobby - cool!

-THE RESORT - :After 2 weeks of travelling Vietnam from north to south we ended up in the Pandanus with great pleasure. The resort is very big and the gardens well looked after. The swimming pool offers a large number of sun loungers whether by the pool, the gardens or even facing the ocean.

THE STAFF - : is welcoming and always polite even though the language barrier can make things a tad bit difficult at times, but if in need of anything just ask for Ross who's in charge of customers relation (i think!), she's great and will sort anything out!

- FOOD - : the buffet breakfast will make you put on weight! and the a la carte menu caters for just about every taste in the world even though it's a bit expensive (the prices are all ++ which means that they will add 5% service, and 10% tax)

-ROOMS - : they're spacious with private balconies and the bathroom is huge all being very clean. There's a bottle of water per person/per day in your room, complimentary of the hotel.

-THE SPA - they have a beautiful spa with 2 outdoors massage areas. UNFORTUNATELY the staff is not welcoming or even trained properly and a massage that should have been a relaxing experience turned out into a nightmare. I had a painful massage with a girl who didn't understand what i was trying to explain to her or even seemed to know what she was doing, i was about to sit up when i realised that another girl was already presenting me with the bill! i signed it, and went back to my room to have a shower as my back was feeling quite hot only to realise that it had been burnt with the hot stones!
i went back to the spa and asked to speak to a manager. suddenly the girls were smiling and trying to coarse me into having a cup of tea! i ended up with Ross who was very professional and sorted everything out.

All in all, a good place to stay if you want some peace and quiet, far from Mui Ne (but they do offer free shuttle), the beach is not very clean (even though the resort's staff is trying to clean it every day) but the swimming pool makes up for it ten fold!

Framboisine,

Thank you very much for your wonderful review of the Pandanus Resort and thank you for staying with us.

We take criticisms from guests very seriously and use the comments from guests to improve our services. Regarding your negative experience with our hot stone therapy, I must apologize. This is a relatively new service that was recently added by our previous spa manager. Evidently she did not understand that the stones must be heated with steam, rather than in an oven. We have just changed the process so that the stones will not be too hot in future.

I am calling a meeting with all of our spa staff today to discuss your remarks. I will make them aware that, if they don't understand what a guest is trying to tell them, they must call Ross or one of the other pr staff members to translate for them. Also, I will reiterate the importance of a proper attitude.

Our spa staff have all undergone extensive training and have been certified. However, all the training in the world will not make up for an inability to communicate and to understand what a guest may be trying to say.

Thank you, again, for your comments and I hope that you will have the opportunity to return some day in the future.
