“peaceful colourful Vietnam”
Review of Mui Ne Harbor

Mui Ne Harbor

The change from bright blue harbor to bright orange sunset was so great. Colorful boats, little round floating tub boats, bright national flags and nice local people. Beside not very big, all quite great.

We took a scooter to take photographs and just to see what it was like. We didn't go early in the morning, perhaps about 11 am. There is a beautiful spot to take photography along the way and I did get excellent pics, however we then went all the way to the bay and saw first hand the poverty and stench associated with the fishing industry mixed with garbage. Yuk
What a shame. It's a bit like a tip.
Take your photos from a distance.

Lovely boats! We came at about 7.15am, and could see some still coming in. The boats were so colourful, and there were masses of them. Obviously, there's a smell of fish, but it IS a fish market! it cost us about 143,000 from Anantara resort in a taxi. ALWAYS carry small change, as if you give drivers 100,000 notes they pretend they have no change!

This is an area of real contrasts - A harbour full of colourful fishing boat and round tubs and a shore that is decaying from all the entrails left to rot. One is never quite at ease walking along this shoreline as it is a real working shoreline and as a photographer one is never quite sure if taking pictures of the goings on is acceptable. There are amazing old French villas falling into total disarray along with temporary shelters dotted along the beach. Shut your eyes to the pollution and enjoy the view out to sea.
