This is an old row-style model on the outside, but was clearly recently renovated on the inside. The room was freshly painted, with hardwood floors, knotty pine wainscoting, and brand new desk, entertainment center with cable TV, table and chairs. All the linens and towels were quite new and clean. The bathroom was done in more knotty pine paneling, with a modern shower/tub combo.
One thing to note (and there are signs posted in the bathroom) is that you can't really drink the groundwater there -- it is safe (no water-borne illness), but has an incredibly high mineral content, and almost tastes like salt water. The hotel proprietors provide bottled water if you don't have any. But the water is fine for showering, washing, toothbrushing, etc.
This place is on Route 17, but there's not much else around. (Which is presumably why you're coming out here!) There is a "trading post" a few minutes down the road that has gas and a store, but they close early; otherwise the closest provisions are 45 minutes away in Sault Ste Marie. But the surrounding area is beautiful, and the motel does have lake access.More
