Chateau de Monfreville

We found this site purely by accident, but thank the heavens that we did, the Chateau is the nicest site I have ever stayed on. Paul and Zoe are the most wackiest fun loving people I have met in a long time and are great hosts.
The site is clean, well equipped and nicely set out and well off the beaten track if you are looking for peace and quiet, the natural pool and hot tub was a nice surprize as was the superb atmosphere that this site has.
I will be making this site a regular holiday site and look forward to seeing Paul and Zoe very soon!!!!!

Spent a great week at the Chateau, could not have asked for a better experience! Paul and Zoe make it memorable...fun and welcoming, silly and informative, hardworking and wonderful hosts. I didnt want to leave, and will be back at the first chance I get! If for no other reason then Pauls cooking! Whether taking the family or just getting away for a couples weekend, this is the place to be. I would be remiss if I also did not credit the fantastic crowd of fellow campers we had with us...they added to the insanity and fun!

I would almost want to keep the Chateau a secret, but that would do a disservice to Paul and Zoe...only go if you want to have a good, laid back time. Definitely not a boutique type hotel...go to hang out and have fun, not to be pampered and leave your attitudes at home.

A cup of tea on arrival. Stunning campsite washroom facilities. An awesome family welcome. Great local area. Doesn't get much better than this! We hope to have the pleasure of returning again one day in the near future.

Room Tip: We faced our tent opening towards the pony field (a tip from the owner) to enable us to have dinner...

Visited June 2013. I stayed for just one week at Chateau de Monfreville but could happily have stayed much longer.
I was staying with friends and family and there a great atmosphere around the campsite. On Friday we went to the weekly "moules frites" night which was a great way to make friends with the other campers... plus... the food!
The campsite is in a great location - especially if you're looking for a central spot to visit all the D-Day Landing sites and War Memorials which are incredibly moving.
Every morning our breakfast bakery order was delivered to our tent which was a lovely touch and the owners are extremely approachable and friendly, and always willing to help anyone out.

Room Tip: If you set up your tent towards the bottom of the hill it's a longer walk to the toilets but awa...

This campsite lives up to its fabulous reviews - wonderful hosts, a beautiful peaceful spot and the all important piping hot showers. We even got lucky with the weather and had a full week of glorious sunshine. My little girl thought the campsite was absolute paradise and was so sad to leave (as were we).

We had the most fantastic four nights at the Chateau and stayed in one of the two Gypsy caravans. The caravans are beatifically maintained – tastefully decorated, lots of attention to detail, plenty of kit including bedding and towels, and we were welcomed with a cool-box full of bread, home made jam, butter and a bottle of rose. Brilliant! We have two boys (10 & 8) and, although it was tight inside for the four of us, we had a really fun time – it’s a very novel way to camp with no faff of putting up a tent! Our boys had great fun playing cricket with other campers (mainly English, but also Welsh, Dutch and Belgian). Paul and Zoe are fabulous hosts and work very hard indeed to ensure that one’s stay is memorable: croissants delivered in the morning; an excellent barn shop (eggs, bread, jam, home grown veggies, bbq coal); impressive local knowledge; immaculately kept showers (powerful and hot) and loos (very clean) and, best of all, a weekly moules/frites night with the best moules we have ever experienced! The location is also superb as a base for the Normandy Beaches and Bayeux. So, we can’t really rate the place highly enough and hope to visit again.

What a beautiful spot this campsite is in. The views are stunning. The service offered by Paul & Zoe is great - even helping pack down our tent after I had hurt my back. Bread deliveries, advice on where to go, restaurants, the honesty shop & the great moules frites night were all wonderful extras. It's a good base for the d day beaches. The kids had a fantastic time & we'll be back next year.
