“everything we needed”
Reviewed August 28, 2014

We stayed for 2 nights and were very pleased we chose The New Hobbit, views from the front of the building are uninterrupted and there is a very good onsite pub and restaurant.
The first room we were given had not been properly cleaned after previous occupants but this was dealt with speedily and cheerfully by changing our room to one which was spotless.
We had a very comfortable king size bed and everything we needed, the beverage tray was very well stocked, the bathroom well fitted and hot water plentiful.
Hot breakfast was full English or components thereof, and available for 2 hours, however tea was served from thermos jugs seemingly made at the start of breakfast service and the tea bags left in the pot till it is empty so the result is a stewed undrinkable brew. Please can someone tell the staff that tea bags should be removed after a maximum of 5 minutes. Coffee was good though.
All the staff were very cheerful and friendly and public rooms spacious and comfortable, The New Hobbit exceeded our expectations and at a room rate of only £65 was excellent value for money.
We will certainly return if we need to be in the area again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a great view but are on the road, very little traffic though. Rooms at the...

We stayed there for only one night but would have liked to stay longer. The room was large and very comfortable although the bathroom was rather small. This is strange as there is plenty of room for it to have been larger. The public rooms are very smart and well furnished. We had one Dinner and Breakfast. Both were very good and the prices very reasonable. The Staff were polite, friendly, helpful and efficient. What more can I say. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We had room 9 at the back. No view but no road noise.

Lovely decor in the public areas and in the rooms, very spacious rooms and very clean.
Good food, great staff. The road up to the hotel is a bit tortuous but thrilling on occasions, try not to arrive at the time the locals are having their rush hour...steep climb, sharp bends and narrows down at points. Nicely out of the way of the town and being so high up has nice views across the valley.
Shame about the boisterous and loud cricket tour team youngsters that stayed at the same time but sadly you cant choose the other guests.

Room Tip: We had rooms that faced the rear and the view was just of a cliff face presumubly with the golf cour...

This place is great & the staff very helpful but I think it's still in the early stages of a complete re-vamp. There was some minor confusion over rooms (we were in a large party, with several rooms booked). All in all it was a great weekend.

Only stayed for two nights as we were visiting Yorkshire on a long weekend for a family get together but we had a very nice time.
Room was a good size and easily fitted the travel cot.
Although little one was a bit boisterous, we were made to feel very welcome. Food was excellent and I would heartily recommend the burger with the pulled pork topping (one very jealous wife missed out on that). Hopefully we'll get to return again soon.

My husband and I had an overnight stay here with friends,as we were attending a party nearby. The staff were very friendly and polite. The rooms had been recently refurbished and apart from being stiflingly hot(unusual Yorkshire weather!),were nicely furnished and comfortable.A grab rail to get in shower and cosmetic shelf in the bathroom would be useful.I am fit and healthy but short in stature so found coming out the shower whilst wet a bit tricky! The freshly cooked breakfast was delicious, but the cereal choices, fruit etc were a bit lacklustre. For the price we paid. We were happy, and would return.
