We planned a group tour to Yercaud in August-2012, with about 5 families with kids. I wasn't so sure when one of my friend recommended that we check into this place. But that was soon to change, for good!
We drove down to Yercaud from Bangalore, and the drive was fairly smooth. They do check for pollution clearance of your vehicle just prior to entering the hills, so make sure you have the papers with you.
The hotel is the first one located on the road leading up the hill, just after you clear most of the hair pin bends. The reception was well staffed, though we did have to wait a little due to the rush and the fact that we were quite a few in numbers.
The first surprise was that due to some issue, they upgraded our basic rooms to the pool view ones free of charge. These rooms were awesome, with a huge attached terrace!
You do need to be wary of monkeys though, and they keep reminding you to make sure you keep the doors towards the valley locked when not in the room to avoid monkeys entering the rooms and causing problems.
The infinity pool is fantastic, just adjacent to the valley full of greenery. There's a bar attached to the pool, but I guess its available only in the evening. One minor complaint I have is about the access path leading to the pool, which is a series of steps.
The buffet is awesome, with a huge spread across the table and spread across two floors. However, on crowded days, you'll have to reach early to enjoy the full buffet as it typically gets over pretty early.
The best part of the hotel is the terrace and the sky walk - a glass floored bridge across the valley that provides a wonderful view of the valley below as you walk across. Not for the faint hearted though!
They even arranged a magic show in the evening, which the kids enjoyed a lot.
Overall, a lovely place to unwind for the weekend.
