“Perfect location, beautiful house!”
Reviewed January 16, 2017 for a stay in December 2016

Our second time to stay at Crab cottage and both experiences were excellent. The cottage is in a beautiful location and with easy access to the local town and beaches, as well as the spectacular views surrounding the cottage itself. Will definitely be staying here again. Kate is really easy to deal with and very accommodating. The cottage is clean, has everything you need and is very cosy during the winter nights with it's wood burning stove. Would definitely recommend!

“Beware of previous reviews, this cottage is not excellent.”

I picked this cottage because of the glowing TripAdvisor reviews. When this cottage was first renovated, it probably was to a good standard, however the passing years and many visitors has meant it now is quite worn in parts. In addition the cottage wasn't clean, it smelt damp, had moldy grouting in the bathroom, and a greasy layer on kitchen surfaces and lights.
On the plus side, it is in a pretty rural setting with easy access to the beach and country walks.

Management Response
Nov 3, 2015
I'm sorry the cottage did not live up to expectations. I feel your review is quite harsh. The kitchen work tops are sealed natural teak and so they do feel slightly different to standard work tops. The cottage is not fully booked at this time of year and is a stone built cottage over 200 years old. So despite the central heating coming on twice a day there is occasionally a problem with very small areas of discolouration in the otherwise modern shower cubicle, this is usually treated regularly by our cleaner and has now been rectified. We usually have compliments on the cleanliness of the cottage and make every effort to keep it to a high standard as other reviews have testified .

“Perfect retreat in beautiful sopt”
Reviewed September 3, 2015 for a stay in August 2015

Returned to Crab Cottage with our 4 children (including 2 teens). Our 12 year old son said it was his best holiday ever.
Crab Cottage was spotless, so well equipped and so tranquil. It has stunning views, is secluded but within easy reach (by car) to the shops and beautiful coast.
The kids loved exploring, blackberry picking, taking photos and playing basketball at the cottage.
The owners have everything one could wish for to make it a home from home.
We will be back!

“Brilliant stay”
Reviewed October 23, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We had a brilliant short break at Crab Cottage. Its a remote but not too remote, beautiful house and has everything in it that one could wish for. It has been very well thought out nothing has been left out from booklets and instructions for everything to great suggestions of where to go and what to do. We loved it.

“Fabulous cottage in spectacular location”
Reviewed October 15, 2014 for a stay in October 2014

We stayed for a weekend in Crab Cottage. The cottage is spacious, comfortable, warm and thoughtfully kitted out - we had lovely meals each evening round the kitchen table after a day walking. The window seat in the main bedroom looks out to the sea beyond. The location of the cottage in Mill Cove is so lovely and is surrounded by wild fuschia hedges. This area of West Cork is very special and we had fabulous walks including Long Strand and later we walked to Galley Head which was spectacular, we saw Seals swimming from a vantage point on the cliffs. Clonakility has wonderful cafés including Richey's where we had a delicious dinner on Saturday evening. The owners of Crab Cottage have done a great guide to the local area and were very helpful through the booking process.
