We just returned from Sandals Whitehouse for the second time. It has been 3 yrs since we were last here. The updates to this resort are just unbelievable! They added a boardwalk on the beach, firepits, new resturants, and remodeled the rooms! This resort is worth the 1.5 hr transfer from Montego Bay.

To start this resort has everything, from relaxing beach, active pool, nightlife, shows... etc. All in the middle of untouched Jamaica! The staff are just wonderful and friendly. The resort has beautiful grounds and gardens, an amazing spa and a beach that goes on forever! You can get up and catch the sunrise and also see the sunset! It is the best of both worlds!

Here are some things my travel agent, Kristie, from True Bliss Travel recommended! I highly recomment them as well! Don't forget to read the program in your room telling you what is going on the next day at the resort. The garden tour (its free) is amazing! Walk the beach in the morning before it gets hot, the beach goes on past the resort and it is very quite and peaceful! Don't forget to get coffee and pastries at cafe de paris in the morning! Have the Jerk Chicken on the beach (this is new)! Sit by the fire pits at night, the stars are amazing! Take the catamaran excursion to the Pelican Bar, it is and experience you will never forget and this is the only resort you can do this from! I highly recommend booking with a travel agent, as they will make sure you get exactly what you are looking for!

Another great thing about this resort is EVERY ROOM has an OCEANVIEW!!!

Room Tip: There are 3 villages. French is farthest away and near the active pool. Dutch is in the middle and...

My first attempt at a review.
We have just returned from a wek at the Whitehouse. After a great vacation at another Sandals property our expectations for the Whitehouse were pretty high and we were not disappointed - well worth the relatively long trip from the airport. The resort is secluded on literally miles of golden beach - not another resort for miles - perfect for us.
We had a little disappointment on arrival - no cold beer in the room fridge - but Heather, the manager of quest services very quickly sorted that out. Thank you Heather.
All 7 restaurants are a la carte for dinner with no reservations needed - great move since who wants to have to break up fun on the beach or in the bar just to meet a rigid appointment. Food & service in all the restaurants was very good & only one meal was a disappointment - lobster in Bluefield's Restaurant & bar staff, in fact all the staff we came into contact with were very friendly & great ambassadors for Sandals. Thank you all, & a special thank you to Myers at our local bar who took us under his wing & really made us feel part of his family even though we are old enough to be his grandparents!
The Monday evening beach party was the best we have ever attended - possibly due in part by the skiff full of fresh oysters on the half shell. And the pastries in the Cafe de Paris were things to die for.
On the "could be improved" side a couple of things:
1- I'm a sailor and with only 3 serviceable Hobie Cats to go around I couldn't sail as often as I would have liked. Six would have been fine
2 - The beach was very clean but when, on our rambles, when we did find a piece of litter the litter bins were even harder to find
3 - Sandals management need to use a little more imagination when describing the levels of accomidations - lets make Honeymoon Suites something special for honeymooners!
Finally, no fault of Sandals but it seemed that planes from every place on the planet arrived at the airport within minutes of ours resulting in horrendous line-ups for Immigration & customs - be warned

Room Tip: We were in the French "village" unit 3429 which give us perfect sunsets but occasionally t...

We travel frequently and expected so much from a Sandals. From start to finish for a one week vacation nothing but issues. We paid for private transfer from Sandals using an Audi, we were picked up in a mini van as a VIP bumped us. Still waiting on a credit from Sandals.

Food was average at best, service horrible, lazy staff making us feel unwelcome. For example, after waiting at swim up bar for 10 minutes for a drink (servers talking and playing a game), I asked for help and was told to make my own drink. As I climbed over the bar, they finally offered to make it. One lunch time we never received our food, one dinner never received coffee and desert. Food servings were small. At the managers beach party/buffet, my husband mentioned this to Frederico (food and beverage director), and was told a study by Canadians said Americans were obese, so the management decided to downsize portions. We waited in line to get into breakfast buffet for 10 to 15 minutes. This may not seem long, but tables were empty. Lines in buffet were long and unorganized. If you wanted coffee in the morning, be ready for long walk up to the front. No where to get coffee close to rooms. The Café was great with service and friendly staff.

The beach and property were beautiful. Sand fleas on the beach, leaving red spots or welts on guests. The pool towel games were the worst I have ever seen. Hotel policy was a 2 hour hold of chairs, which was never enforced except for 1 day. At 6:00 AM, the management removed everything, put it in trash bags, and hauled it to the lobby. Arguments broke out at the pool as guest blamed each other for taking their chairs. Made for a horrible day.

Rooms were small and dated. No walk in shower like most 5 star resorts have, just a tub with a shower head. Rooms like a Super 8 motel with paper thin walls.

Upon departure, our luggage was to be picked up by 9:00 AM, at 9:35, we hauled our own luggage to the lobby. We departed at 10:00AM by Audi (surprise, surprise).

Mr. G is the hotel manager, appeared not at all respected by employees. Complaints to him in person by guests resulted in excuses, not answers or results. As frequent travelers, with the price we paid for this trip, we will never return to a Sandals Resort.

Thank you for posting about your stay with us. I’m so sorry that your experience with us did not meet your expectations. We are known for providing luxury in a friendly and comfortable environment and unfortunately, during your experience, it seems we did not meet those expectations.

It is surprising that to read your comments about our General Manager on resort. Mr. G takes pride in ensuring that each guest is happy as well as ensuring that staff on resort are always encouraged to provide the highest level of customer service. His motivation and vision are not only respected but also appreciated by many.

We thank you for your review, as feedback is a very important part of the improvement process. We hope that you will afford us a chance to make things right during a future stay with us.

Sincerely,

We have been to several Sandals and were very excited to try Whitehouse. If you are thinking about going there think again. Montego Bay is closer to the airport and is superb, Negril has incredible service and GM along with best red lane spa we have ever seen.

Here is the good and bad at Whitehouse.
Ride to Whitehouse is almost 2 hours. You must go private car service which is $440 round trip. They give you refreshments and you don't have to stop. Roads are curvy and several pot holes. If whitehouse was worth the ride it would be okay but they have lots of items to work on.

Concierge - you pay more for concierge level. Don't waste your money they are worthless. Kemar should be fired asked our names 3 times, would not move us to another room and took personal call while we were in his office - HORRIBLE. Only way we could get a room was lovely Ava Gardner jumping in or we would still be in concierge waiting for a room. On our last day conciege said we had to check out at 8:30am shuttle at 9am - funny we checked in on line they had our data didn't leave until 4:45pm and private car - why have concierge??

Rooms - for an only 8 yr hotel looked like old condo - colors old, room smelled like mold, they were clean but small. Rooms had walls like tissue paper - foreign family next to us stayed up all night with loud voices - no other sandals have walls that bad. Beds are great and housekeeping was great.

Beach/pool - were amazing - longest beach ever plenty of chairs. There is little high tide so chairs can stay right at the water all the time. chairs literaly in the pool too that was awesome.
Swim up bar - see Anthony he is amazing!

Muscians - were incredible. Go here just to see Moses. Best artists in the world are not as good as he is. We took a cd home so we can still get to enjoy him. Cafe de Paris had great singer and violinist as well. Hotel moves them around a lot you never know where they would be. It would be great if they told you where they would be and put lights on them. They were always in the dark. Lights would help the entertainer and the guests. Steel drum silver birds is not to be missed. Amazing!

Guest Services/Playmakers - why does Whitehouse call their activity people something different. I have no idea what to call them?? Very lazy but great dancers - they would read the newsletter of the daily activities and ask if anyone wanted to come to them for the event if no one came they said okay well see you later. REALLY?? They loved to hear themselves on microphone but were not connected. Example bingo days at the pool fun for everyone. They would throw the plastic basket on the flooor and say come to me to get a card lets play. Other Sandals would send the guest activity people out with cards made a connection with guest and brought the card to the guest. HELLO pay a lot at Sandals service is highly important. Great 10:30am aerobics instructor - I would love him as a private trainer - but he hooked his own music up and then took it down and then pool was left with no music. Why is activity coordinator not introducing or thank ing aerobic guy and giving us his name - I still have no idea who this guy was and he was amazing! Activity person should be there to transition and give pool more music.

Food - amazing - great concept in having European dining lots of outside tables to eat in paradise. Chefs spectacular - loved Eleanors, Bayside now a french restaurant, Jasmine asian and Bluefish ride on the point - great food. Neptune needs help service horrible and fish sandwich cold - great location but needs help. Cafe de Paris is their gem. Open for great coffee and pastries 5am until 11pm at night perfect! Crepes, pastries - fabulous pastry chef and great workers always giving you a smile loved Shandae and Cassandra. Made our visit to Cafe de Paris a daily event - sometimes 2!

Dinner on the beach - incredible incredible - pay the money to do this especially if they have Moses as talent. Patrick, Shantoy and Tonya were amazing great servers that should teach others.

CEO, Chairman and Mr. G have you been in your business center - This is a closet not a business center, boxes, old art anything closet like are kept in here. It could be nice but they obviously don't care. Only 2 computers for 300 people and you must go to sales to be let in. You need more computers and a way for guests to let themselves in. Took too long, too much waiting for computer and to be in a closet. All people in this decade need to be able to get on internet and print boarding passes. This is easy fix if they care to do it.

Beach Firepit - had two great bon fires on the beach but are the workers so lazy they don't want to put chairs on the beach by the bon fires?? You had people standing for a while in dresses and gave up - people want to sit. There were chairs on beach but you had to drag them to the entertainment. Staff should do this like Montego Bay does for their beach parties.

Red Lane Spa - had a couples massage that we love to do. Negril spa is the very best so thought this spa would be similar. 50 min couples massage became 30-40 min rushed massage. Not worth the month. Everyday they stand on the cross walk by their spa attacking you to sign up for the spa. Please don't attack we are on vacation. There is a pleasant way to do this and back it up with great massages if you want guests to sign up. Skip the spa here even though it is gorgeous spa with great hot tub and steam room with eucaliptus smell. Go to spa but don't get any services.

Waterfalls, walkway lights - beautiful waterfalls and lights all over the property and they all worked but were only turned on when staff felt like it. They looked great when they were on.

Mr. G - the GM runs through the property on his cell but never saw him talking to anyone. We even left the sandals select cocktail party because dinner started an 1 late. 1 1/2 hours of a cocktail party for guests that don't know each other is wayyyyy toooo long. Why at this property are staff allowed on cell phones?? No other sandals have we seen this.

Best staff at this property is Ava Gardner, Shantoy, Tonya, Patrick, Anthony, Cassandra and Shandae rest of the staff needs to learn from these folks. Others are lazy, slow and unhelpful.

We had high hopes for Whitehouse since we have loved the other Sandals. Sandals is not inexpensive but we thought worth it for service, property and entertainment - this isn't so at Whitehouse go somewhere else. This is first time we didn't Soon Come Back to plan next vacation. CEO, Chairman and Mr. G this property needs attention it is a diamond in the rough with lots of property to expand. Keep the european dining village but rest needs work.

Room Tip: Only Italian Village is good rest is way too far from everything. French is the furthest away. Book...

We regret to hear that we did not meet quite your expectations for service and quality. We have many guests who feel the direct opposite and have boasted of our accommodations. However, as hoteliers we realize that there is always room for improvement and feedback is crucial in this process so we thank you for your review.

After speaking with our management team on resort, I was happy to hear that you received a wonderful upgrade while on property and expressed that your stay was going very well. However, your feedback on TripAdvisor seems to be the opposite of our impression. We are always looking for ways to improve our resort to exceed the expectations of our clients. Therefore, we do request that while on resort you notify us of anything that does not meet your standards. We are always eager to do what it takes to ensure that you enjoy your stay with us.

Again, thank you for your review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind Regards,
Cassie C.

We have been to Sandals Montego Bay, Negril and now Whitehouse. Whitehouse is by far the nicest. Great beach. Great staff. Great accomodations. Great weather. Good food. The only drawback was the bugs. I had read earlier TripAdvisor reviews on the beach bugs but had discounted them. I never saw any bugs and did see the staff spraying the beach early every morning. My wife and I notices about 3 or four bites each during our week but nothing to worry about. Then we came home.... The day after we got home the bites started appearing. My wife was fine but I had several dozen bites that began itching like crazy. Delayed action bug bites. Who could have guessed. I wrote management (which I NEVER do) and got a "sorry" response, literally and figuratively. We were so impressed with the property we will probably go back but not without bug spray. Sorry to have to write this. Management just did not seem to care to address the problem with me. It was a wonderful property except for the bites.

Room Tip: All rooms are ocean view. There is not a bad room on the property. Ground floor are walkout to the be...

This was our second Sandals property to visit. As any all-inclusive resort, some things were not perfect. We are ocean swimmers and found the beach here very disappointing. Once you walk into the water up to your knees, you hit sea grass complete with crabs and sea urchins. We searched the area and couldn't find an enjoyable swimming spot anywhere along the beach. The pool, however, was very good and you could always find chairs at the main pool.

I heard the property was at full capacity while we were there, and it never felt crowded. The service is far superior to any other all-inclusive we have stayed at. All of the employees were professional, warm and polite.
We very much enjoyed other water activities including the paddle-boarding, sailing and water-skiing. We also took full advantage of the land activities. The tennis clinic run by Vivian was excellent and the fitness coordinator, Michael had very good quality workouts that we participated in.

The rooms were nothing special and we ended up with an older matress so not very comfortable but we hardly spent any time in the room.
Our room was also very noisey. You could hear the people in the room next to us VERY clearly - noise from the hallway is typical at all hotels, but we could literally hear the conversation people were having next door to us. You could also hear people walking and moving around above us which was annoying.

The food was very good and we only had to wait for a table at Elanor's one night. Elanor's was our favorite restaurant and we ate there twice. Bayside and Italian restaurants were also amazing food. The french pastry cafe was a refreshing change, and Italian restaurant had excellent pizza at lunch time.
We paid for an upgrade to a concierge level room in order to get room service, but it is cut off at 10pm. This was disappointing, especially on the late nights when there are no other food options other than a sit-down-and-wait "snack bar".

The roads in Jamaica are very twisty-turny and bumpy. Whitehouse was at least an hour drive from any other attractions we were interested in. The seclusion was nice on most days, but when we wanted to spend a day in Negril, we ended up deciding against it because of the long driving time.

I would stay here again but for no longer than 5 days since it is so secluded and I would not waste the extra money on a concierge level room.

Room Tip: Concierge level is not worth it. Room service is not 24 hours.

My husband and I, along with two other couples, just returned from two weeks at glorious Sandals Whitehouse; coming from the NE in winter the average 84 degree "windchill" in Jamaica was wonderful! It was our 4th time back so you know we have a fancy for the resort which includes the gorgeous grounds, the many restaurant varieties, land and water sports, and especially the staff. Mr.G, the GM, Jeffrey Burke, Director of Sales, Frederico, the Restaurant Mgr all were highly visible on a daily basis mingling with the guests and always asking if they could do anything to make our stay better - they had everything covered with a smile! And of course their staff exuded those same qualities; to name some wonderful customer service oriented workers that are more like family: Dominic, Anthony, Keon, Kevin, Aldane at the Riviera Pool bar, along with Errol and Damion pool staffers; Copeland + Renaldo at the Neptune Bar; Kimone at the Casablanca lounge, Sophia-waitress at Eleanor's, Ohshane-waiter at Eleanor's and Giuseppe's, Roxanne-waitress at Bayside, Teon-waiter at Neptune's, Tamara-"master omelet" chef at Bayside, and Milani who serviced our room daily with a smile as if it was a bedroom in her own home. They remembered your names, what you like to drink, where you prefer to sit if available, made recommendations, etc. Again, all with a smile. We will be returning! One note as others stated: it is aprox 1-1/2 hr drive through their country on very tight, winding and often numerous potholes, but you see the insides of Jamaica which most people will never know and see - they are hardworking and proud people. BUT once you make it to Sandals Whitehouse you find the "hidden treasure"!

Room Tip: We like to stay in the Italian village because it is more centralized and we use the Riveria pool...
