La Locanda Di Cetona
Ranked #1 of 1 Hotels in Cetona
Reviewed May 30, 2012

I spent alot of time searching for the perfect place for my family to spend 3 days in Tuscany and La Locanda Di Cetona and the quaint, picturesque village of Cetona exceeded expectations. We reserved rooms 203 and 201 at the Locanda because we had 5 adults. They were exactly as charming and beautiful as they look on the website. The bathrooms are spacious with very large showers and the big fluffy robes are a nice extra touch. It is more like a small hotel than a B&B because the Manager doesn't live there. I communicated with Emanuele, the Manager quite a few times before arriving and he was extremely helpful both before and during our stay. Everyone in the town was very friendly, but brush up on your Italian or download Google Translator because it is a wonderfully authentic Italian village that has not yet been spoiled by excessive tourism, so there are only a few folks who are fairly fluent in English. You have breakfast at the Cafe across a small piazza or you can have it delivered. The rooms are equiped with small refrigerators and room 203 had a mini-kitchenette, but we preferred to go over to the Cafe for the atmosphere and the delicious pastries. Cetona is an easy 15 minute drive from Chiusi which is on the primary train route from Rome or Florence. Both Avis and Hertz have offices in Chiusi. We took easy day trips to Assisi and Siena and spent a day in lovely Cetona. There are quite a few cute shops and good restaurants there so you don't even need to go anywhere if you don't want to and you might not once you get there

Room Tip: There are alot of steps (it's the 3rd floor of a 3 story building) up to room 203, but it worked...

Thoroughly recommended. Beautiful little b&b right on the square of a traditional, slow paced Italian village. The Manager was wonderful, going out of his way to help us with our ongong travel arrangement. And our room was stunning, so cosy and homely, and such good value! Perfect place to stay when hiring a Slowhills car for the day :)

Room Tip: Room 202 was the cheapest and smallest but just lovely. Tucked a the back of the building, it was sm...

Also known as "La locanda di Cetona". My first night of honeymoon and we chose to be away from big cities that are tourist attractions. We found the best. Cetona is a getaway for Italians and with our car we planned to tour all the tourist attractions around it. The hotel has changed managment and it is an amazing little hotel. Emmanuelle the manager does everything to please the guests! A little noisy in the front, but it is the centre of the town so it is expected. Very romantic and very well decorated. Nothing to say about the cleansines and promptness! Cheap food around in restaurants that wood cost double in Greece! LOVED IT!!!! must have a car.... Cetona is a great place so you can tour Castegliano del lago, Pienza, Montepulciano, Chianciano Terme.

Room Tip: all are great.. 201 has two romantic balconies that overlook the square of the town

What a brilliant little B&B right in the center of Cetona, perfect for our stay. The couple running La Locanda di Anita could not have been more helpful and friendly. The bed was big and comfortable and the room had been recently decorated and complete with original wooden beams and high ceilings - very spacious. The shower was amazing, room enough for 3, but no bath.

Cetona it's self it quite small and rustic, without a car we were running out of things to explore on our second day, but it was still relaxing and a pretty town to explore. Wouldn't necessarily go back to Cetona without a car, but would definitely stay at the B&B again - shame they don't have more B&B's like this one in other places.

My partner and i stayed at this hotel last week. We found it really nice.

The good:

Cetona is a walled city refreshingly untouristy for Tuscany.
The management was amazing and could not do enough for us.
The showers in every room are fantastic - full on rain shower with side bar and really roomy.
the hotel was spotlessly clean.
All the rooms look stylishly decorated (room 102 and 202 face the back. Room 102 is the second cheapest and very large. room 202 is quite a bit smaller but the cheapest of all the rooms)

The bad:

no air con
when we opened the window we could hear pigeons which had taken up residence by the back wall. I should say though that the management are aware of this and are working on getting rid of them

I would give this B&B excellent marks but only marked it down a bit because of the lack of air con and the pigeons. I would still return in a flash though as i thought it was a fantastic little place in a lovely area with lovely guys running it.
