Greeted by a friendly young man
Ordered a roast dinner and it came quite quickly.
The food was all homemade which was lovely but it was not at all warm and runny gravy.

Dear Philp1965,

Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback. We're glad that you thought the food and service was lovely, though we're very sorry to hear that your food wasn't warm, and the gravy not to your taste.

We hope that you will visit us again, and give the team here another go, as this is below our usual standard.

We'd be grateful if you could make yourself known to Mark or Jon when next visiting so we can apologise in person.

Thanks again for taking the time and effort to write a constructive review.

Best wishes,

All at The Engine Inn.

We only visit this Inn for a few days each year when we come over from France. We were pleased to find the new owners are bringing it back to what it used to be. Over the years we have got to know some of the locals and if it was as naff as some of the posts seem to suggest then they would not be going in especially as there are other Inns not too for away. We had lunch and dinner there for a few days and everything was delicious.

Hi there,

Thank you for your wonderful review. Jon and Mark are doing a great job since we took over The Engine Inn, and we are over the moon to see this acknowledged in your feedback.

We hope to see you again when you're over from France.

Love the Engine. It’s our local pub and the good news is Mark and John (the new landlords) are really making a go of it. Ignore the old negative reviews - the fact is it’s changed immeasurably over the last few months.

Big fan of Monday quiz nights, the 2 for 1 Friday fish and chips, live music and the simple fact that they’ve made the pub a pub again.

This pub is set in some lovely countryside, with fantastic views from the beer garden. The place is apparently under new management and they seem to have a great eye for how to run a place - there is a great selection of draft beers, and also some slightly unusual gins. Good food, and very interesting décor, which includes many artefacts from yesteryear. Worth a visit.

Stayed for 3 nights on a short break.
Had ground floor room with disabled bathroom facilities. All clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. Room facilities could be improved with the addition of a full length mirror and perhaps some basic toiletries, shower gel, disposable shower cap etc. Other b&bs in the same price range service the room daily, bins and used tea bag caddy not emptied tea bags, coffee and milk not replenished. Made our own bed.
Cooked breakfast plentiful and freshly cooked to order.
Only ate there on the first evening, nothing special but eatable. Eat at the Balnoon inn on the second evening which was much better.
The landlords were pleasant and friendly and keen to please.
