We certainly didn't spend nearly enough time at Westhaven Retreat! One night wasn't enough!
We were greeted by hostess Monika and shown to our room - with floor to ceiling windows out to a spectacular view of the Westhaven Inlet, our immediate reaction was "Wow". The room was warm and light, with the smell of wood emanting from the timber frames. I immediately relaxed on the guest chairs overlooking the view and chilled out with a glass of red wine while my husband took a shower. I heard giggles of delight as he worked out how to get the jets working on the shower!
We were hosted by Bruno for dinner, cooked expertly by Monika and nearly had to roll back to bed. Delicious, hot soup, hungarian goulash and then a divine souffle for dessert, mixed with local wine and great company. Fabulous!
In the morning we woke to stunning views across the inlet and had a leisurely breakfast (again, amazing) before heading off on the nikau forest walk. It felt like we were in primeval times, with native forest, crashing ocean and even wild mountain goats spying on us from above.
I could go on and on about how fantastic Westhaven Retreat was, but seriously just try it for yourself - you won't regret it!!More
