Sylvie and Darren were great hosts. Great knowledge of the area and were able to advise us what to do with our limited time in the area. Accommodation very good. Area very peaceful. We had a slight problem with internet access which they were getting fixed.A lovely place to stay .

This is an old town police station converted into a motel. We stayed in one of the 2 units at the front of the structure. There are also 2 separate units on the hill behind the house. It was very cute, very clean, and well located. The hosts were the best. We slept very well on the bed and the shower had a decent flow. It was a bit warm, so it was nice to have the fan in the room. The only thing I disliked about the room was that the bathroom was a bit small and awkward, but this was probably unavoidable due to being an older remodeled building. The sink had separate hot and cold taps so each time I used it, the water was either too cold or too hot for what I was doing. Also it would be nice to have a good hook in the bathroom to hang clothes and the tiny trash can in the bath wasn't large enough (I've never seen such a small trash can). There is a lovely yard planted with flowers and a barbecue is available. Both the beach and the town are a couple minute's walk away. The town itself is located near Farewell Spit, and Abel Tasman National Park can also be accessed from the north. It is a quiet, beautiful, uncrowded area--it felt like an undiscovered jewel. We are glad we made the trip up to Collingwood instead of staying closer to Nelson, and we are glad we stayed at The Station House Motel.

Hosts are really nice and helpful. Stayed in the caravan as the town was booked out. Would recommend this to anyone wanting a quite stay. Very competitive pricing. I was lucky to get a booking as there were several events on.
The site is located on the edge of town is less than a minute’s walk.

OK, so we were trying to visit the Abel Tasman National Park and we wanted to find a hotel nearby to start our visit. We got a late start on arranging for a reservation. The nearest place we could find to match our schedule was the Station House Motel in Collingwood, NZ. Collingwood is on the other side of Abel Tasman when coming from Nelson. Although a bit of a drive over a twisty road Collingwood proved to be a quiet and delightful surprise. Plus you are right at Cape Farewell and Farewell Spit. The Station House Motel is a terrific location only a short walk from the water and the small downtown area. The Station House is a lovely and quiet converted old police station with a nice yard/garden to sit outside an enjoy a long, soft summer evening. Oh, and free Wifi! Collingwood has some real surprises. The relatively new bakery and burger place - The Farmer's Bakehouse - has the best burgers in all of New Zealand. The buns are made on site and the secret is great Angus beef and carmelized onions. We went to FergBurger in Queenstown, NZ and there is no contest, the Farmer's Bakehouse wins. Collingwood and the Station House Motel were the most pleasant surprises of our two week driving tour of the North and South Islands of New Zealand.

Room Tip: The rooms are similar to those you would find a a "bed and breakfast" type place. Homey an...

Thankyou Judge Tacoma.

What a lovely review. So glad you enjoyed your stay here with us, it was nice to have you. The free wifi seems to please everyone and a lot of people are surprised its free.( i think the internet should be free eveywhere)

Also lets hope people read your comment about The Farmer's Bakehouse burger being better than the FergBurger in Queenstown and come to Collingwood to see for themselves. Ill let you know what i think after ive tryed them both.

Thanks again for staying with us and we look forward to maybe seeing you again oneday.

We stayed in studio apartment at front of the house. It was very private, quiet and nicely restored and furnished. Collingwood is a little town and we were able to walk around it and to the beach from the motel. The couple that run it are lovely. We stayed three nights and had plenty to do. Collingwood is more remote and quieter than Takaha. The room had an ensuite, you could use the barbarque outside and sit outside to eat. The room had a TV and a DVD player and the hosts have a DVD library which they let us use for free. In the town there is a supermarket, a pub and a bakery. Lots of things in the Tasman and Golden Bay area to see,

Thanks Marilyn for the review. Yes the DVD library is a bit of a hit gets a bit of a work out, usually more in the winter. Guest like that its free. We like our services to be free, like the internet, parking, late checkouts, BBQ, trampoline for the kids.

Thanks again and see you next time.

The Station House Motel, is a delightful building, the rooms are very well appointed (great shower) and has all modern amenities but with casual charm.
