“An excellent informative and educational trip on the spit”
Reviewed March 23, 2012

Had an excellent 4 hour trip with Farewell Spit Nature Experience - entertaining and informative driver/guide, and though I have been before, it was still an awesome experience. The weather was not great, but the fact that the wind was blowing made the dunes all the more magical. You can get a taste of the spit on your own on foot but can only access the first few kms and so really have to take a tour to experience this wonderful and unique part of NZ - and these are the guys to go with. They even retrieved my hat that I left behind and delivered it back to me! Oh ... and if you are into bird life don't forget your binoculars.

“Worth the time and money”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

This 6 hour trip to the lighthouse is amazing. The views are great, the busses are fun and the guides are full of facts about the local area. We booked our tour at The Station House Motel and recieved a discount on accommodation. Running down the massive sand dune was wicked fun!!!

“Too much words”
Reviewed September 19, 2011

I went there primary for taking photos. I don't really care about history and dolphins. So we didn't really stop for photos, but spent almost an hour sitting and listening about whales. So I wish I spent that time for exploring the place instead of boring lectures.

“There's commentary and then there's commentary...”
Reviewed July 1, 2011

We thought the trip was good and the running commentary on environment, geology, natural history well sourced and interesting.

What detracted from the enjoyable aspect of the trip was the extremely personal and unprofessional commentary about how he does not like foreigners owning property in NZ. This was not very bright, considering that most of the customers were foreign! He then went on to say that he had had to sell his share due to dwindling business and financial constraints. Perhaps foreigners have stopped coming on his trip due to his comments...

On the plus side, The scenery was stunning.
