Have you ever thought that an ordinary railway service could run up the side of a steep hill. Well just outside of Bad Blankenburg (where the first kindergarten started), there is just that. On a funicular railway, instead of a fixed car, there is a railway line and an ordinary carriage - or truck can go in it. So one carriage on a train went from the lower level, up the hill and continued on the upper level.
Now just a tourist attraction - it had its day of practical use.
