Beautiful chateau and beautiful rooms, grounds were stunning and the restaurant worth a few more visits. Lovely and helpful staff. Although June the outdoor pool was unable to be used as it wasn't warm enough, however the indoors pool is nice, much nicer than in the photos. Highly recommended.

Driving up the driveway at the Chateau Mirmabeau is a sight to behold. A beautiful building with a great setting in a park. A large lawn with a view from the room or the restaurant makes this a worthwhile stop while driving through this region of France. It should be said that the town itself is quite modest and it was quiet on a Sunday afternoon (pretty common in France!).
I have stayed a fair number of Relais properties and this one is certainly well above the standard. The decor is very much in the time of the belle epoque with lots of silk and drapery and and the dining room really has the charm of that era. We were upgraded to a Double Superior room which looked out over the grounds. The internet worked well though poorly in the dining room (intentionally we were told which I must say I appreciated). It was very quiet on our arrival and the General Manage spent a great deal of time showing us around and giving a bit of history of the building and the hotel.
We walked the grounds including the old wall at the moat and they are well maintained. The hotel has a pool indoor and outdoor pool. We did not partake but our colleagues certainly had high praise for the facility.
Breakfast was quite pricey and not stunning though going somewhere else nearby was not really an option. I asked for oatmeal and I was brought a sealed small package of standard oatmeal and boiling water. To be fair we were the first ones in the dining room just as it opened so the chef was not available to do eggs and so on. Still the price/value ratio was not the best.
In contrast lunch and dinner were both outstanding. For lunch I had the lobster tagliatelle and this was simply exquisite. Big chunks of lobster in a wonderful foamed broth and perfectly cooked pasta. My travel companion had the club sandwich with salmon and pronounced it good but not at the same level as my tagliatelle!
We had dinner with another couple and overall this was an equally pleasant experience with just a couple of small hiccups. The staff were very pleasant and helpful in explaining the various dishes and bringing the food. We tried beef tenderloin, cod and sole for main courses and each was well presented and of high quality with wonderful flavour. The filet of beef came with a very interesting mash potato with hay infusion side that was terrific. There were some small issues since the wine and water were placed away from the table but the staff were so busy after each of our courses arrived that we often found ourselves with empty glasses. A second small problem was that the cheese course (Chef's Selection) came cold, clearly right out of the fridge, rather than the usual room temperature when in France. It took a while to warm up enough to enjoy the subtleties of the flavours. We were all pleased with our desserts including some wonderful chocolate tarte and strawberry cake. Overall it was a great meal with just a couple of hiccups.

Room Tip: We were in room 4. I liked the door between the entrance/bathroom and the sleeping area to keep noi...

It costs a lot, but what the hell. You don't arrive at this sort of place very often and you are a long time dead! Been to a few Relais et chateaux properties and this is one of the best. Cracking restaurant- M. Geays oeufs on the menu? Do not miss them.
Staff are a delight: attentive, but with confidence to be engaging without being overbearing.
Minor mistake in the restaurant acknowledged and retrieved with style. Think we will be back.

A beautiful experience and a lovely meal, would definitely return. Small gym and a nice indoor pool, there is an outdoor pool and it's not heated, so even in June could not be used as the weather was not warm enough.

The most enjoyable traveling experience from the moment we drove in by the door and were gently asked to pass to the salon as the paper work would be brought to us, the luggage moved to our room and the car parked....and did we care for a refreshment as we waited? ...Chateldon mineral water , no less.
The interior is impeccably furnished and in an amazing condition. The rooms are as well impeccably furnished and attended to the superlative degree of excellence. We regret only having spent one night at Mirambeau in our journey. The big bonus is the cognac room, a beautiful room complete with approximately 150 bottles of cognac, scotch and armagnac, many of them "milimise" . The dinner experience was also amazing...first time that I saw a menu item
" filet of sole cooked at 64C degree". Our somelier expertly recommended the right wines for our meal. Chateau de Mirambeau is definitively worth the detour on your way from Cognac to Bordeaux or Saint Emilion. Book an extended stay if you can. We are already planning our return for next year.

We chose the Chateau Mirambeau for its great reviews and overall "look and feel" during a long weekend visit in early May.
We were not disappointed, as the Chateau lived up to its expectations.
We selected the basic room which was small, yet adequate with nice bathroom and closet space.
As we arrived rather late we ate at the salon which was very nice and relaxing.
The remainder of our dinners we had at the hotel restaurant which was very good, though slightly overpriced.
The sommelier was very accommodating in helping us select our wines which, in Bordeaux, is a challenge in itself.
We had also organised a number of winery visits and lunches via the hotel which proved very useful and accomodating.
The key element for enjoying Mirambeau is to have rented a car.
The Hotel is situated in the north of the Right bank 1 h from the airport, with St. Emilion being the closest wine region, though 45 minutes away.
We also visited the Left bank all the way to St. Julien, but this requires a day's worth of driving back and forth from the hotel.
Nonetheless, waking up in the hotel and having breakfast with a view of the gardens made the driving worthwhile.
The overall experience was great and memorable.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with garden view

We stayed for 3 nights and loved the experience. The chateau is beautiful and the rooms are like staying in a piece of history. The room was large and every little detail had been thought of. I loved the turn down service each night! My husband is in a wheelchair and the room suited well and the staff did all they could to make our stay enjoyable. The hospitality was outstanding. The restaurant was an added bonus as we didn't realise it was Michelin starred until we arrived, The meals were superb. The gardens and the pool area were also lovely and made our stay even better. We would highly recommend staying here.
