We stayed at Ravenstone Lodge for two nights - it is in a lovely position with wonderful views the place to unwind and relax. We occupied room 7 which was nice and warm - clean - and had a very comfortable bed however I am now going to repeat what has been said in previous reviews both bedroom and bathroom needed updating. The other disappointment for me were the toiletries that were provided particularly the tissues a small box would have been nice rather than a packet (ladies handbag size). We did not feel much attention had been given to detail.

Having said that Mike and Rachael (the Manager) and the rest of the team were very warm and welcoming and we felt that we had been looked after very well. We ate both nights at the Lodge one in the Bistro and one in the Stable Bar the food was excellent and well presented. Both the Bistro and the Conservatory had Wood Burners which made the rooms feel very cosy. Breakfast was of an equally good standard with a wide choice of hot food and again very nicely cooked.

We did enjoy our stay- Rachael we felt is certainly an asset to the hotel in making all the guests feel very comfortable.

Booked this hotel as the reviews on here sounded to good to be true, so thought i would test the theory. On arrival we were greeted at the door and given a full tour of the hotel ,the electric was out due to a nearby hotels wires being worked on, this however was not an issue due to the amount of natural light coming in through the huge conservatory!

After being shown to our room we decided to eat in the hotels restaurant, at which only one room may dine at a time, which at first seemed a little strange to us. This was until we were seated in the bistro area, which still has all the original features of the animal shed it used to be, it looks FANTASTIC! with the only addition of the bar, which for me was like heaven as there was 40+ whiskeys available! We ate one of the best meals I haveel ever had in a hotel, if not outside of accommodation! Food is cooked to order and is fresh and locally sourced! Delicious!

After eating we sat in the conservatory with a couple we had just met and spent the night waited on and looked after! What an excellent experience!

Staff were all extremely polite and caring, always standing by just incase you needed anything! We were lucky enough to meet the owners who were also on a weekday getaway! Lovely couple who came around all the guests and introduced themselves and asked about us as if we were the only patrons of the hotel!

Breakfast was perfect, full English cooked to order also, great way to starr the day!

We stayed two nights and dined both nights in the hotel as it was just so delicious!

Will definitely be staying here next time we visit the lakes!

We stayed at the Ravenstone Lodge in March 2014 as a last minute getaway for our Honeymoon.
Upon our arrival my wife & I were greeted by Rachel who made us feel so welcome.
This place is outstanding and so clean, we couldn't complain about anything, all was perfect.
As soon as Rachel was aware we were just married she upgraded us to the 4 poster room free of charge, what a king gesture, she couldn't do enough for us.
Breakfast in the morning was superior with a choice of a full english cooked to perfection or a vast selection of cereal & fruit juices, home made crusty bread. The restaurant served excellent quality food, I recommend the home made chicken pie. A large car park is also great so you don't have your car sandwiched. overall this place is excellent and we shall return very soon. What else can I say apart from well done Rachel, you are a credit to Ravenstone Lodge and my wife & I thank you for all you done for us. I could sit here all evening writing excellent comments on this place. I recommend anybody to try Ravenstone lodge you will not have any regrets.

We have passed the Ravenstone Lodge many times and decided to call in at the Bistro on our way home after walking on the fells. The welcome was really nice and Antonio the head waiter really made us feel at home and gave us great service. The hotel was busy with people just arriving to stay and the conservatory was a really nice place to sit and chat with views across Bassenthwaite Lake. We ate in the Bistro which is a converted Stable and the food was excellent. Mike the owner made a point of chatting with us before we left even though they where very busy. Will go again and will probably stay as well. Well done on great friendly service.
