Nothing out of the ordinary perhaps due to its remoteness from the other lakes. Sailing club was closed on day of visit, may not like visitors to use their facilities. No other attractions to make people to stop.

This a very calming place to be very good for walking. A great place to sit and read also to meet people from all over the world.

Should you ever be in the area of Bassenthwaite Lake, the only true lake in the Lake District, then you must pay a visit to St. Bega's church which is situated near the lakeside. Just a short walk from The Ravenstone Manor ( 2 miles there and back ) it is well worth the effort. Very tranquil. Inside the church there is a table with over 50 copies of the New Testament each in a different language. Most interesting. Don't forget to put something in the box.

two visits , firstly to Mire House with surrounding Dodds Woods ,nice grounds and very nice lakeside walk . Don't miss the small church , a haven of tranquility . We stayed at Armathwaite Hall and the hotel have a printed walk to the lake shore which is well worth it for the views but also some history of the area

Thank Alan W
