“Gorgeous!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2013

We have just returned from a lovely three night stay in the Limousin room at Sandhills. The room was gorgeous, bed super-comfortable, breakfast delicious and Helen a brilliant host. Lots of lovely touches such as the homemade biscuits and wine glasses in the room. Great picturesque location, only a short walk from the lake side and an easy drive into Keswick. Fantastic weekend!

Stayed for 3 nights in September, the room, venue and Helen the host were faultless. Breakfast was excellent, close enough to Keswick and attractions to have a range of places to visit and eat and drink but far enough away to feel quiet and relaxed!

Location with the views of the lake were beautiful. Can't wait to visit again!

We have recently spent 4 nights at Sandhills and have to say what a gem of a B&B this is. Everything was perfect. The room and bathroom were a lovely size and to a very high standard. It was furnished beautifully with gorgeous Laura Ashley - everywhere! It was also very good value for money!
Helen was such a brilliant host, very attentive and helpful, she really does make amazing cakes and I can recommend the homemade jam at breakfast. The breakfasts were lovely and we even took some of their eggs home with us, in hindsight, I wish I'd bought more.
As we spent our days fell walking, we organised for packed lunches which I can thoroughly recommend, there was more than enough provided to keep us fueled all day.
We are both determined that we will return there in 2014. Thank you Helen x

We chose this B&B partly because of the reviews it has received, partly because of the pictures on the website, and partly because of the location, we stayed for a weekend having travelled from Newcastle-upon-Tyne and it is much easier to get to the north lakes than the mid/south lakes.

Sandhills proved to be an excellent choice; it is easy to find, the welcome is friendly, the room was clean, modern and very well presented, the bathroom was spotless, and the breakfast was delicious. We really couldn't fault Sandhills; it is close enough to Bassenthwaite to walk down there in 10 minutes, and also close enough to Skiddaw to offer a range of walks to suit all abilities.

We hope to return, but word appears to have got round, and it is necessary to book some way ahead to secure a room, particularly in high season!!

I stayed here after attending a wedding. It was excellent from the start. We had a warm welcome and were shown our beautiful accomadation. There is not one thing I could fault about Sandhills Farm. The breakfast the following morning was lovely and beautifully prepared . I can not recommend this place highly enough.

The Lake District, and Keswick/Derwent Water in particular, hold lots of cherished memories for my wife so it was important that I chose the right place to stay.

After hours of scouring the internet for the perfect guesthouse to take my wife to for her surprise 30th Birthday treat, I stumbled upon Sandhills Farm B&B.

From the moment I made the initial phone call to book, I knew I'd made the right choice. Helen, the proprietor, couldn't have been more helpful, even going as far as to wavering a deposit so as the surprise wouldn't be given away to my wife! All further correspondences were quickly dealt with and the ability to arrange an arrival time made our journey less fraught.

When we arrived, we were given a brief, but very pleasant welcome, and all my hopes for the B&B were quickly realised. The room (The Texel) was immaculate. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom smart and spotlessly clean, and the home made biscuits presented in a kilner jar just showed what a top class place Sandhills is.

Breakfast consisted of a choice of fruit, cereals, yoghurts and fresh fruit juice, followed by a choice of hot food. Having been on a diet for 10 months I naturally took the option to have a full English breakfast, which was a 2 bacon, 2 sausages, fried bread, tomato, and a fried egg from the farm's own hens, which both my wife and I agreed were some of the best eggs, both in taste and how they were cooked, that we'd ever had. All this and Denby crockery made for a very pleasant breakfast experience.

We stayed for 2 nights, enjoying a perfect nights sleep on both nights.

We will definitely be recommending Sandhills to others and will try our upmost to get back ourselves at some point n the future.

Thank you Helen!

10 out of 10! Sandhills Farm is just superb and we doubt you would find anywhere better or more comfortable. Nestling on the edge of Bassenthwaite this delightful farm house has three rooms for B&B, each beautifully and thoughtfully furnished and presented. Spotlessly clean and so relaxing. We were greeted with tea, coffee and the most sumptuous homemade cakes - the lemon drizzle cake was as light as a feather. Helen is a warm and friendly host and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were delicious and it is a long time since I have tasted eggs so good or so fresh (laid on the farm). We will definitely return when next in the lakes.
