Sandhills Farm B&B
Reviewed April 17, 2012

We stayed here for two nights in mid March and wished we could have stayed longer. Helen made us very welcome with her trademark tea and cakes. Like many of her previous guests, we took the short walk down to the lakeside. It was so peaceful with only the slight buzz of traffic from the far side of the lake.
Our room was pleasantly furnished with a well appointed bathroom and we slept soundly in the comfortable bed. Breakfast was served downstairs with tasty bacon and fresh free range eggs from Helen's chickens. This was preceded by a freshly prepared fruit salad and a good selection of cereals
The recommendations for our evening meals were 'spot on' and we had a most enjoyable break.
To anyone reading this review, you are soon going to have to book well ahead, as news of Helen's B&B is spreading far and wide and judging by our experience, cannot fail to be a popular choice.
We took a tray of eggs home for Easter and our visiting 3 sons had one or two eggs each every morning over the bank holiday. Needless to say they didn't last v.long - they were delicious! Thank you Helen for a wonderful stay. Hope to be back soon.

Spent the Easter weekend at this beautiful place. Helen made us so welcome from the moment we arrived, providing hot drinks and home made cakes (which are stunning). Our room was on the first floor, had a lovely bath with slate floor which was heated. The room was spacious, well put together. Clearly Helen had put a lot of thought into the furniture, the design and the feel of the rooms. The breakfast in the morning were first class, with the bacon been the star of the show. Walked down to the lake from the farm, which was wonderful. Only thing missing was the sun as it would have been great to have a picnic by the lake. Helen is a friendly, lovely and very knowledgable host who made time despite being a mum and having a farm to run. She has recently got into the Guardian top 10 B & B's in the lake, she is humble about this award but she definately deserves it. We look forward to returning in the near future.

My friend and I have just got back from staying at Sandhills Farm as we were attending a wedding nearby. On our arrival Helen brought tea and home made cake, which were delicious. Our room was on the ground floor and was a lovely room, with a wet room. Helen recommended a local pub for dinner, which was only 5 minutes away in Keswick, the meal was lovely.

We looked around the other 2 rooms before we left, and have told Helen that if ever we are in the Lakes with our husbands, we will definitely be returning to her wonderful B&B

We have stayed in numerous B&B's across the country, and we can say that this was absolutely the best we have ever stayed in - WELL DONE HELEN!!!! :) :) :)

We stayed at Sandhills farm B&B in November 2011 for 2 nights. We travelled to Armathwaite Hall for a spa day (which is just 5 mins away) couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Accommodation was perfect..our room was decorated beautifully (had a sneak peak at the other rooms which were also decorated to the highest standard), modern rooms but also farmhouse style, particularly liked the exposed beams and the under-floor heating in the bathroom! Room had everything we needed, would have liked to stay longer! Breakfast was delicious, locally sourced products. Sandhills feels very homely, Helen looked after us really well and recommended a great local pub for our evening meals, the pheasant inn at keswick (great food!). We really enjoyed our stay!

I stayed at this B&B in June 2011 while attending a wedding nearby. Our host, Helen, went to extraordinary lengths to look after us; preparing tea and cakes before we went to the reception and then even driving us a few miles down the road to the event. I cannot recommend Sandhills highly enough. No expense has been spared on the level of appointment of each of the beautiful rooms and the surroundings are stunning. Sandhills farm represents the best that the beautiful Cumbrian Lake District has to offer with a warm and friendly family atmosphere.

You'll do well to find a better B&B in the Lake District. We stayed in the ground floor room which was a good size, a massive bed all the mod con's with a good famhouse feel to it. Helen is a lovely host and the breakfast's are really good. We would stay here again.
