“"Quiet and relaxing site"”
Reviewed September 22, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

This is the second time we have stayed at this site, the site itself is great for a relaxing stay. We used it as a base to reach parts of the Lake District that are a little too far to travel to in a day. The one drawback for this site is there isn't a shop, So you need to make sure you take anything you need with you or pick it up when out and about in the towns. There's a great dog walking area at the top of the site; the views over the Solway Firth to Scotland and Bassenthwaite lake from the dog walk area are excellent. Fantastic sunsets to be viewed over there as well.
The lodge itself was well equipped with everything we needed, (Apart from having to buy a new tin opener!) :)
Rowans Lodge was quite comfortable, the TV and DVD player were modern, the TV was much bigger than you usually get in caravans and lodges.
The cooking facilities are really good; but unfortunately there wasn't much work top space for laying plates to serve food etc. The dining area was fine; four could sit round the table without too much trouble.
One thing that was a definite plus was the shower: the shower was fantastic, I think this was the best shower we have ever used, unbelievably powerful and the temperature of the water could be adjusted easily without going too hot then too cold.

“Lovely realxing spot and perfect for the Dog”
Reviewed June 11, 2013 for a stay in May 2013

The Rowans was a lovely clean and well presented lodge, with the added bonus of a large modern TV. Open plan living area and great terrace/balcony, which the dog could sunbathe and relax on (as well as us). A peaceful site with glorious views and plenty of space between cabins. The dog walk area was a large grassy area with 'runs' mown through the grass for loops around it or throught it. Cockermouth close by for all the shops/restaurants etc and a nice walk near by in Dodd Woods. Overall a very relaxing peaceful site set in the countryside

“Peaceful stay. Wonderful views”
Reviewed August 27, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

If you are looking for a, 'no frills no fuss', holiday then this is for you. This is a peacful site with wonderful views of Bassenthwaite Lake, Skiddaw and the surronding areas. The site offers a play area for children, suitable for children aged 10 and under. There is a sparate dog walking area which offered views of the lake and Scotland. I was also luck enough to have a regular visit from a Barn Owl. The site does not have a pub and there isn't any close. This wasn't a problem for us. The site sits between the A595 and A595 which offers great access to the whole of the northern lakes and good routes to the south. The Rowans Lodge was clean and comfortable. Large TV for those lasy wet evenings, also a small tv in the main bedroom for catching up with the rest of the world. The bath/shower was really appreciated for the fussy family. The dish washer was a god send. Bedding and towels are supplied. Overall we loved the parks tranquility, views and access to the lakes and beyond for a great price.

“peacefull”
Reviewed April 21, 2012 for a stay in April 2012

great if you want to get away from it all, lodge was fab everything you could need, even doggie treats were left for us.the only negative really was the mattress was to hard and the pillows to flat(for us anyway)also nearest town (cockermouth) was about 10 miles away, so make sure you stock up on groceries before returning to lodge. fresh eggs everyday on site, which we took advantage of, even bought some home. overall great holiday.
