“Superb lodge and site”

Stayed at maple tree lodge after a last minute decision to get away for the weekend .so pleased we did .lodge is set at the very top of the park which gives great views of skiddaw mountain .site is just a nice size and the lodges are spaced well apart . The lodge was spotless on arrival and the owners had left a welcome pack for our dog which was a nice touch .the park had a excellent dog walking field which we thought was a great idea and kept you from walking the dog around the park and thus not bothering other people who might not be dog lovers . Lodge has a lovely kitchen and diner which is open plan . All you can think of needing was supplied . Two good bedrooms one with en suite plus a full size bathroom is there as well . Lodge is double glazed and has central heating so was nice and toasty even in February . Site is well placed for visiting other areas such as the beach at St bees etc . Put simply we can not wait to return which we will definitely do .

“Fantastic place to stay.”
Reviewed December 14, 2014 for a stay in December 2014

We stayed in two lodges on the Skiddaw View site. Originally from this area, we met up with old school friends and had a fantastic time. The lodges were superb. We stayed in Maple Tree Lodge and it was modern, clean, warm and well equipped. There was even a small Christmas Tree placed in the living room, which gave the place a real Christmas feel. The views across to Bassenthwaite Lake and Skiddaw were incredible. The staff members were friendly and helpful. Minor issues were dealt with quickly and efficiently. Although somewhat biased, having been born and bred in Uldale and the surrounding area, we must recommend the North Lakes. Very few people have even heard of Overwater. The old village school in Uldale is now a delightful craft centre and coffee shop. Bassenthwaite and Keswick are only a few miles away. We will definitely recommend this holiday site to family and friends. We have posted some amazing photographs on Facebook for them all to see.

“Beautiful Views from peaceful Lodge”

Excellent service received. Check in on arrival was quick and hassle free. Keys were provided with map and easy to follow directions from a polite staff member.

Lodge was as advertised and had everything that we needed. Washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, scourer, bin liners, dish towels and toilet roll was provided. The Dishwasher & washing machine was a bonus for us. The lodge was tidy and clean - there are a few cobwebs, cracks & marks on the interior walls which did not bother us but could be attended to. The views towards Skiddaw from the lodge were amazing come rain or shine. Opening the blinds to this view every morning was a real highlight!

We travelled with our pet dog. Maple Tree Lodge is right next to the access to the Dog Walking area which our dog absolutely loved! The dog walking area has a mowed path within longer grass which our dog enjoyed running through. This area also had beautiful views towards the Northern Fells but also Scotland in the distance (which was stunning to look towards as the sunset). The nearby Dodd Woods was also an excellent spot to walk with the dog and the Osprey Viewpoints within the woods also provide stunning views. We walked our dog here in the early evening and did not see another sole. However it looked to be busy during the day. A real nice touch was the dog basket provided in the lodge which had a towel, blanket, dog bowl, a treat and some 'poo bags'.

The holiday park is in a remote location but the towns of Cockermouth and Keswick are nearby to stock up. There is a Sainsbury's and Aldi in Cockermouth. One thing that surprised us was the number of dog friendly shops and pubs within Keswick. The holiday park is well maintained and tidy.

We had a wonderful stay and we are looking to book again for next year.

“Nice lodge in a great location”

Just returned from a great week in Maple Tree Lodge. Situated at the very top of the park, the lodge gives a fantastic view over the countryside towards Skiddaw and you can just make out Bassenthwaite Lake in the distance. Spent many hours out on the decking just reading (both of us suffering from a cold during the week meaning we ended up staying on site a few days). The lodge is nicely furnished considering it is pet friendly, although a three seater sofa would have been nice so I could really stretch out :) There is plenty of local information available in the laundry room, and the free WiFi is useful, although only available around the park entrance area. You can sometimes get a mobile data signal, but it is best in the field behind the lodges. Speaking of which, the dog walking field is a fantastic addition, and I hope it isn't sacrificed in order to extend the park. Our dogs loved running in the long grass, and there are some inspiring views over towards the Solway Firth in the evenings.

“Excellent ! Out of this world!”
Reviewed July 5, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

This is the 3rd time me and my partner and our two small dogs have stayed in this beautiful lodge.
Firstly , let me review the holiday park.. This park is approximately 12 miles outside of Keswick. It is a small park containing some Owned vans, Owned Lodges and rented vans and lodges. Not too many of either... The park is beautifully maintained, the views looking towards Skiddaw are stunning.
The site is well run, well maintained and lies between cockermouth and keswick. You cannot get to it on foot , only by car. There are no facilities as such( club house , bar etc etc) which is fine by us, there is an onsite laundry ( coin operated machines) if your lodge or van does not have its own machine.Ours has its own washer dryer which is very very convenient.
This lodge has everything one would want -it is a "home from home" !
This lodge is set atop the highest point on the park, and is conveniently located near to the dog walking area ( Large redundant field with mowed access points). The lodge has a beautiful viewing area where one can sit ( indoors) and look out at Skiddaw and the surrounding countryside. There is also an outdoor sitting area -decked patio for when the sun eventually comes out! We fell in love with this lodge the first time we visited, and have now been back a further two times and will undoubtedly book again next year. We like it so much, we are contemplating buying it.
Noticed this year, towels are not supplied, we had to rent some from reception (£10 a week) which is no bother, but if we had known we would have taken our own.
Another little piece of information worth mentioning, as you come out of the lane from which the park is situated and back onto the main road towards Keswick, less than 50 yards over the road is a cracking cafe/restaurant -which is also licensed to sell beer and wine! Does excellent home made / pies, meals bread cakes etc etc... , breakfast to die for. Infact they do breakfast, lunch and early dinner. Note it closes at 5pm in the week. They also do sunday roast dinner which is a real treat. Very handy indeed. The place is called The Craggs Coffee House. Be sure to eat at least once here.

Lodge was well equipped and clean, everything provided and good quality. We usually stay in Keswick but this lodge was cheaper than our Keswick one but we found ourselves driving down to that area everyday as there was nothing to do in the Bothel area ,so therefore spent quite a lot in petrol.
