“Anniversary treat”

We stayed here for one night as part of our silver anniversary trip. The hotel building is very impressive inside and out. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the food at dinner exceeded our expectations. Service was also very good. The spa was great, with a range of areas - we enjoyed the outdoor hot tub! Lovely lounge area for coffee after dinner too - great log fire and smell of woodsmoke!

My wife and spent two very enjoyable nights at Armathwaite. It is a very luixurious hotel and every attention to detail had been made. The staff throughout the hotel were very welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We had a wonderfiul room overlooking the farm and alpacas and the bed was sumptuous!

We ate in both the Lake View and Brasserie restuarants. The 5 course menu in the Lake View was beautifully prepared and presented each evening and the traditional breakfast with eggs cooked to your liking was simply amazing. The food we ordered in at lunch in the Brasserie was simple, but tasty and hot!

The service from the waiters and bar staff was impeccable.

If you like to be pampered, then this is the place for you. Not only in terms of service, but also the very modern spa facilities and the pool/heatzone areas. My wife and I had the best massages we have had in years and I'd go back just for another one of those alone. And as for the Hush Room afterwards, I didn't want to leave!

So in short I'd thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing break in luxurious surroundings where the staff are happy to attend to all your wishes

Room Tip: We had the North Tower Room - as the name suggests it on the higher level - there is an old fashione...

This is a lovely hotel. Staff are all very welcoming and professional, from the reception staff thru to all waiting staff and housekeeping. The hotel is situated about 8 miles north of Keswick, so an easy drive in and a nice place to while away some time. Its easy to find, and not far from the M6 motorway so it makes a nice stopping place. The hotel is situated at the side of a lake, but when we were there, it was very muddy to walk down to it, and although you can view it from the hotel, it is a walk down the gardens over a road (there is a footbridge over) and down a muddy track. The spa in the hotel is really lovely - for regular spa goers, it is very similar to Ragdale Hall in look and feel, although smaller. We had massages and swam in the pool, and sat in the outside jacuzzi - all very nice. Breakfast and dinner were included in our package and these were very good, we had dinner in both the posh restaurant and the brasserie. Both were good, although you get all the little extras like sorbet, etc in the restaurant. Prices for wine were reasonable.
Our room was right at the top of the hotel, up in the eves, so was a bit too warm (heating seems to be on all the time). However, we did have a window to open. The room was very well equipped, with big comfy bed, side chairs and tables and settee. Bathroom was lovely and has its own TV. Plenty of storage space.

Room Tip: There are some rooms on the groundfloor near the spa that have lovely outside sitting areas. There i...

From the gate along the driveway to the hall we were transported to an idyllic haven of comfort and delight. The building is charming with high ceilinged reception rooms with plenty of comfortable seating, blazing fires and lovely views. Our room was a good size with sofa and chairs, rich coloured curtains and upholstery, a very comfortable bed and from the balcony, a view of the lake. The spa and pool are modern and delightful. I swam every day and mostly had the pool to myself. The hot tub was outside in a picturesque setting overlooking the gardens. I had a couple of treatments and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet comfort of the hush room afterwards. We ate in the Lakeland room each evening, the menu remained the same both nights of our stay so the choice was a little limited. The staff were courteous and attentive. I would be inclined towards giving it top marks but for one or two small disappointments. On our final day, there was a wedding party and we were evicted from the drawing room without an alternative place to relax. Also, it would have been nice to have nibbles around in the reception rooms and I would have expected some biscuits to accompany a pot of tea or coffee. They are small things but it is quite an expensive place to stay and usually these sort of things are provided at this level.

Pulled up to the hotel, wow! Amazing place. Went to reception and booked in. We arrived before our room was due to be ready so were given our room number and informed by a lovely receptionist lady that we could go to use the spa. We took our books and swimwear and loved it. Outdoor hot tub is fabulous and the indoor water jet was firm enough to get tension out of aching muscles. The room was upgraded and was lovely. In fact it seemed each side of the bed was in a different postcode it was that big!
We had dinner in the Lakeview restaurant. The food was lovely. The only downside was we felt a bit badgered to go in. We had had a late lunch in the brasserie so didn't want to eat too early. Just felt the staff wanted to get a flyer. That was the only down side. Never the less, all the staff were pleasant and approachable. A lovely place. Definitely would return.

Our first experience of Armathwaite Hall was in September when we were looking for prospective wedding venues. We instantly fell in love with everything about it and found the staff attentive and extremely helpful. Having looked at numerous other venues all over the lakes we settled on Armathwaite almost immediately. Having only 6 months to plan a wedding for 60 guests, we anticipated it being hard work, especially as we are based over 100 miles away but we found that Catherine and David made the experience a pleasure and stress free. The staff were extremely flexible even up until the morning of our wedding and the day was perfect. Our guest were extremely complimentary about the rooms, location and food and were made to feel very welcome by all the staff, commenting that they felt like royalty. For such a big venue, the hotel is extremely intimate and personal. We cannot recommend it enough and are looking forward to celebrating many anniversaries to come at Armathwaite Hall! Room Tip: Ask for a lake view, simply stunning!!!

Just visited and had a wonderful time, staff very helpful and facilities excellent, this allowed us to feel really comfortable and relaxed during our stay. Our room had recently been refurbished and was sheer luxury. My last visit was when my daughter got married 5 years ago, and what a fantastic time was had by all, the back drop of the lake and Armathwaite Hall for the photographs were and still are spectacular.
Definitely an excellent place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room that overlooks the lake it is spectacular
