We had an excellent stay at The Heights, the house is beautiful and in a lovely area. Everything was lovely and clean and the house was much bigger than I was expecting. Chris was so helpful when booking and made everything very easy - answering any questions I had along the way. Perfect house for families or friends looking for a lovely get away. Will definitely look to return.
Very handily located for Bassentwaite, very comfortable and spacious, and great facilities - loved the kitchen and the layout of the house everyone had plenty of space with comfortable rooms. The Heights is a very smart and contemporary home, was a lovely place to meet up for our family birthday. Would defenfitely recommend this location, nice local pub (The Wheatsheif) to call into after a local walk.
Lovely house, lots of space & was always warm. I did get in touch with owners over an issue & it was sorted immediately. Would definitely go again. Only downside was that the Wi-fi wasn’t working & we didn’t have a phone signal, but we coped!!
We ate a couple of times at the local pub which was only 10mins walk & it was very friendly & nice good food too
The house was perfect for a group of friends to meet up to go walking. Social space is great for a large amount of people, less than 10 minute drive into Cockermouth where there were all of the shops etc you could need and less than 30 minute drive to Skiddaw for a good, (but challenging!) hike. Definitely recommend and will definitely be back!!
We stayed here for the weekend to celebrate a significant birthday. We arrived en famille, six adults, a seven-year old and The Dog. The place is very well appointed and every little detail has been considered and provided, from dishwasher tabs to towels. A warm welcome awaited by virtue of chocolates and wine for which we were most grateful.
If your intentions are to have a place to dry your socks after a long day's walking, or to sit in peace and stare at the beautiful scenery then you'll be happy here. There are two busy roads to the front of the property, but being city dwellers we hardly noticed and the traffic dwindles with daylight so isn't that much of an issue.
A visit to the local pub is a must -do try their utterly delicious lamb but perhaps not while you're looking
out of the window at their counterparts. It's a short ramble home if you can manage a straight line after partaking of the local Lakes Gin (you may have to try two or five to make sure it's as good as you first thought).
The property has three double bedrooms and one twin upstairs, two of which are en suite. There's a separate family bathroom too and a WC and bedroom with a double sofa bed on the ground floor. There were some interesting moments involving access to the storage in the twin bedroom and incredibly creaky floors. No movement on the first floor goes undetected from anywhere else in the house. The mattresses in all but the main front bedroom were not comfortable which, had there been more of us, there may have been some falling out over! The main bedroom to the front has plenty of storage and a pleasant bathroom and although the fitted sheet did have an old stain this wouldn't have ruined the weekend.
We'd definitely recommend the property for a short stay but do be aware that it's built into an incline and there are lots of stairs. People with very limited mobility or the infirm elderly would not manage here.
None of the negative points were enough to encroach upon our happy time here and nor would I let them put you off- there is a lovely terrace with barbecue, outdoor seating, amazing views (did I mention the views?, there's a lovely dining room inside, a breakfast bar in the kitchen and sheltered outdoor seating to the front. The views are really incredible and the small wild area to the rear of the maintained garden is a perfect spot to sit in front of and listen to the birdsong. The owners seem to have won some weird television lottery but if you'd want to sit and watch any or all of those while the world beckons to you from outside then there's something wrong with you. We hope you enjoyed your stay as much as we did.
Great few days at the Heights. Our party ranged from 5 to 70 with the house suitable for all. Great places to eat such as the Phesant which is nearby, with a village pub and great childrens play park in walking distance.
House was very comfortable and included everything you would need for a family holiday. The children loved the games and the grandparents loved the stunning views from the balcony.
Would defiantly recommend and will almost certainly return.
