We had a lovely time with Deborah. We were a party of seven, 2 grandparents (disabled), 2 adults, 3 children. The grandparents had a perfect room for them on the ground floor with a large shower, we had two bedrooms in the main farmhouse with wonderful views towards the lake. The rooms were warm, comfortable and clean. The breakfasts superb! Our youngest daughter had a lovely time at the farm and played happily with Deborah's sons and at the end of our week did not want to come home! All of our party would happily return to Highside and would happily reccomend it to anyone. I have not attached photographs as to be honest, the pictures from other members are spot on!

Room Tip: If you have mobility problems, take the lower floor room as it is perfect, you will only have to man...

My husband and I have just returned from a couple of nights at Highside Farm. The first night we stayed in the 'luxury room' which is located in a converted barn, the room was large with a sitting area and large TV, it was slightly dusty in places, and I did find it unusual to find my clothes sharing the wardrobe with a vacuum cleaner and its fitments.
The second night we moved, as was agreed at booking into the farmhouse and our room was on the ground floor accesable from the farm yard. This room was rather cramped as it had a super king bed in it, with only one chair, a small television which was located within the top cupboard of the wardrobe, tea and coffee in another cupboard within the wardrobe and the kettle that required to be on the floor to plug into an electric socket (unless we missed a more accesable one) so I did not find it a user friendly room but we were only there one night and indeed spent very little time in it.
The sheets and towels were good quality, the white duvet cover in the superior room was rather crumpled and due to sheets being used I believe was not changed between guests. the superking bed had a quilted throw which was okay but looked rather well worn.
I believe Highside Farm achieves its excellent status due to its owner, she is indeed excellent with a warmth towards her visitors that makes people feel 'at home', the breakfasts were good also with a good supply of fruit etc.
We go away a lot and have used Farm House Stays many times Highside Farm is the first we have stayed without, I believe an accreditation from the Tourist Board or AA. With an advertised rate of £100 for the Superior room and £80 for the standard room the accommodation I believe, does not warrant such rates, but accommodation in the Lake District does command and indeed achieves higher room rates than many other tourist areas in the country.
Would I recommend Highside Farm if you want a friendly B&B with a lived in feel and a good breakfast yes, but from a personal point of view the accommodation was not for me.

This is without a doubt a much better option than staying in a hotel - the luxury room was very comfortable, very well equipped and perfectly relaxing.

The location is beautiful with easy access to explore the rest of the lakes.

Deborah made us feel very welcome and cooked a hearty breakfast to set us up for the day.

We will definitely be back soon!

High Side is a really lovely B&B near Keswick in the Lake District. The house is easy to find and in a fantastic location between Bassenthwaite Lake and Skidaw. We arrived early evening and received a warm, friendly welcome from the hostess who immediately made us feel at home. Great breakfast to set you up for the day and clean well furnished room with real local charm. So if your looking for excellent value for money and a fantasic place to stay you can not go wrong at Highside Farm. Well, well worth a visit!

From the moment we arrived,in a cloud of steam!, nothing was to much trouble for Deborah. This includes having the AA van blocking the farm yard whilst fixing our car!
The classy but still cosy accommodation was spotless.
Would we book again, oh yes indeed!
As for the 2 poor reviews perhaps they stayed at another Highside Farm as their comments are way off beam.
