Knowledgeable and friendly guides lead a hike through the rainforest on paved trails, sharing their knowledge of plants, animals, and the workings of the ecosystem. Mina Falls is a natural beauty you must see! If you're in Puerto Rico, this is must do.

This was our first trip to Puerto Rico and we were very pleased with this cruise line excursion. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The 'hike' is very doable for people of all fitness levels. The rainforest was cool and beautiful. The waterfall was icy cold. Best to wear shoes you can take into and out of the water if you brave the swim. (It was very hard walking barefoot into the waterfall - sharp and slippery rocks). We took great pictures of the trees and saw some wildlife. My kids 8 and 10 had mixed reviews. 10 year old loved it, 8 year old was a little less enthusiastic. We loved it. A great excursion overall.

This excursion was booked through RCCL onboard the Enchantment of the Seas out of Baltimore. We docked in San Juan and boarded a van for the 45 minute trip to the trail. We were told that, obviously, because this is a rainforest to expect an occasional rain shower and that the trail may be slick. Fortunately we saw no rain but the advise regarding the slick trail proved accurate. Our guide was very knowledgeable in explaining the flora and fauna of the region. The trail is mostly paved with grooved concrete to help keep you from slipping. As the trail seemed to never dry, the grooves did help. As for the hike, it's almost a mile to the falls and you return to your starting point using the same trail. After the exhausting hike to the falls, I was hoping once we got to the falls that we would only have a short hike using another trail to the van. No such luck. We returned the way we came in. There are lots of steep slippery hills and steps without railings and both my wife and lost our footing a number of times. Wear sneakers or boots. The cruise line describes this trip as moderate. Don't believe it. The cruise line should describe
this as strenuous, especially for us out of shape old folks. We wore our bathing suits hoping to swim at the falls, but it was so rocky there was no way we were going in. Definitely bring water shoes if you plan to swim. After a brief stay at the falls we returned to the trailhead. All in all a memorable trip that I probably wouldn't do again.

This was a great excursion from the time we docked in San Juan till the return to the ship everything was done in a timely manner. The extreme knowledge and enthusiasm of our two tour guides was wonderful, not just of the rainforest but the history of Puerto Rico. The preparation and equipment provided exceeded my expectations and was definitey done with the hikers in mind. The terrain was a little more difficult than I had expected. Even at that I would still recommend this excursion to my friends.

We took this excursion when we were on a cruise ship and docked at San Juan for just about 7 hours. Our guide Mike (Tex-rican) met us just outside the dock and the comfortable coach/min-bus was parked right there. We had a scenic drive to El Yunque- about 40 mins away.
Mike was very friendly and knowledgable and gave us information on Puerto Rico too as we were driving there. Fun stats!
When we reached there, we recieved our backpacks, packed with towels, water and cereal bars. Wish I had known that before, would not have carried my own back pack.
it was raining lightly but not uncomfortable. the walk was about 45 minutes 1 - way to the waterfall with about 20-30 mins halt there. The waterfall / pool was cool with the rain and was a bit smaller than we expected.
There was a lot of plants and trees that we learned about! Saw huge tree snails which were unlike anything I'd seen.!
Would definitely recommend this excursion- was not very strenous or tiring. Was exhilatering to be up in the mountains and in the forest after being at sea and beaches for 5 days!
All in all a wonderful excursion and on the way back, the view from the 10-mile view point was amazing!
