The food was fine, but the chicken that we had (based on the Fodor's write up of the fried chicken with rice and beans) was dried out and just so so. The wonderful staff though was incredibly warm and welcoming and we went back there during our second trip to the rainforest and had the shish kabob which was fine. We also tried the fruit drinks which also had a great write-up in Fodor's and we found the passionfruit drink to be overly sweet and not what we were expecting, but that's not the company's fault.

Pinchos(shish kabob) were excellent. We shared a pork and chicken pincho, and rice and beans. The meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. Rice and beans were great. We also had some homemade coconut "beverage" that the owner provided samples of. Very good stuff. It was a great way to end our day in the rain forest.

This place is in the side of the road in the El Yunque Rainforest.

It does not look like much from the road and is not fancy at all. Some would call it dumpy looking I suppose. But it was clean. Most of the workers there speak little or no English, so our guide had to order for us and the others in our tour group.

The food is simply prepared. We had wrapped tacos with rice and beans. Drinks of cold beer and a pina colada with a very good pour of rum. It was all very good.

After a day of hiking in the forest it’s a good place to unwind with a drink and some well prepared local food.

Forget the appearance. It’s a fine place to eat.

Some of the best pinchos that we tried, and their fried stuff is PERFECT!
Do yourself a favor and stop at La Muralla for some super authentic Puerto Rican snacks.

My family and I, with kids as young as 3, enjoyed a nice lunch at La Muralla, after the hike to La Mina falls. Food was fresh and fast. The options were excellent. Their fried offerings-fritters, empanada, etc. were fun to try and their rice and beans were terrific. It was cheap to boot and very busy.
