From the moment we were picked up at the airport in a brand new Mercedes s-class hybird, we knew we were in good hands! The hotel has the feeling of being at a private estate-- check-in is at a desk (with champagne offered) , and you are escorted by your "butler" to your room.
We loved the poolside attendants standing every few feet around the pool, just waiting to assist us!
The food at Fern was as good as many of the best Manhattan restaurants--we had the tasting menu with wine pairing one night and it was delicious and well served.
The room was luxurious without being over-the-top---everything you need to feel pampered (great bathroom and comfy bed) and terrace. The only drawback was a noisy air conditioner which we were told the hotel is rectifying.
The beach is on a private cove and is perfect for walks and the hotel has ample lounges both at the beach and poolside.
Bottom line, my husband and I can't wait to go back!!!!!

We were at the St Regis from the last week of January into the first week of February. Making our plans, we almost canceled our reservations based on the negative trip advisor reviews. Boy are we glad that we used our better judgment and proceeded with our first intuitions of St Regis being an upscale, exclusive property. We arrived at the hotel and our jaws dropped when we saw the landscaping, and magnificently manicured lawns. As we got closer to the plantation house we were greeted by a crew of friendly and courteous hotel staff. They got us checked in quickly and efficiently to our luxurious room. My husband and i travel frequently to many high end hotels, and yet this room was way more luxurious than we've ever experienced. We had some specific needs of a refrigerator, extra freezer and microwave in our room, and the butler went out of his way to make sure that we had everything to make our stay just perfect. From that moment on we realized were in the best hands and our trip will be a sensational one. So it was, the pool was amazing, the staff was incredible, the spa was a dream, the boating was so much fun, the unexpected treats served at the pool was really thoughtful and an added refreshing touch. We can go on and on because they truly left us speechless. We haven't even gotten back yet home, and felt and urge to write this review from our plane seat. (wi-fi enabled way to go!!!!!!) We recommend this hotel to everyone. Whether your traveling alone, with friends, your spouse or your family this place is for you. We guarantee that you will have the time of your lives!!!!!!
All the staff were super, special kudos to the GM Mr Rodriguez on being so attentive to all your guests needs and specifications.

Going to make this review easy. Bottom line, great facility and getting better with time. The low rating is to make sure the hotel does something about the Cons. It's the power of us Reviewers to not only inform other potential guests about the property, but to alert management about issues and to make a difference with our voices.

Pros
Attentive staff that remembers your name
Butler service is good, although not readily "available"
No room upgrade for SPG even though resort was less than 30% at capacity
Beautifully designed and landscaped resort
Oversized bathroom and tub
Smooth check-in and champagne greeting
Decent food at Seagrapes (Did not eat at Fern)
Nice Boat house with kayaks, sailboat etc.
Prompt valet parking attendants. (To be expected since the resort was nearly empty. Only saw 12 other couples there during the entire stay.)
Clean, comfortable linens/bed
Nice turndown service

Cons
$60 resort fee (this is quite ridiculous) needs to be included with the room rate, until they change this I suggest we limit the amount of high ratings we give this place
$22 valet parking - again, understandable if space were a concern (i.e. NYC etc.) but not valid for a such a sparse area with ample room
Extremely loud A/C with fan that blows directly over the bed
Super loud leaf blowers that the gardeners used all over the resort. This is really bad. (How can you enjoy peace and quiet when these blowers are running from the early morning all through the day, on the pathways and all areas of the resort?)
Excess debris on the beach. (Although this isn't "trash" per se, it does detract from the appearance of the rest of the well manicured property)
The pool is cold and there really wasn't anyone in it due to this fact. Not arctic frigid, but not warm either. Although I'd imagine this wouldn't be an issue in the summer.

my wife and I stayed the first week of january. the grounds are beautiful, the golf course is great, the room was wonderful and fern is a great restarant. I found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. we rented a car and were able to have other eating options which I think is important. the pool and beach were clean and well run. a shout out to paula and juan lopez. we would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Reading the reviews on Trip Advisor in advance, I was expecting the staff to spit on us and slap us in the face but to have a pretty decent room to sleep in. What I found was an absolutely GORGEOUS place to stay with a couple fairly minor service issues, but overall a wonderful experience.

First, the good:

The hotel is beautiful, the setting is beautiful, the facilities are all beautiful. The room is extremely large and elegant - and we absolutely loved the terrace with its great couch. The spa was amongst the nicest we've ever been to, with great outdoor post-treatment area (where they brought us champagne after our massages). The setting for breakfast and both places for dinner were beautiful and we loved eating outdoors in January. The pool is a terrific place to read and relax. Even better - the grounds have terrific walking paths, an area where you can go "boating" (paddleboating and small sailboats) or fishing off the pier. The butler service (which somehow some people missed) was very gracious - they made us mojitos every night, they brought us DVDs, poured us a bath, etc.

The bad:

Okay, there were basically two issues we had - and most of it came upon check-in. When we arrived at 4:20 P.M., we were told our room wasn't ready. We responded that a St. Regis should have the room ready almost an hour and a half AFTER check-in time. After all, you are paying for the room after check-in time. The response from the receptionist was, "I'm sorry, I know, but as I said, the room isn't ready." This wasn't really acceptable so we asked to see the manager, who came, typed in a few things and as it happens our room then suddenly became ready. The notion that a room isn't ready for customers paying this much after check-in time is pretty bad at a 5-star hotel.

Moreover, when she asked us for dinner reservations - we made our selections, she agreed to them and said "wonderful" and then afterwards we noticed that some of the restaurants we chose were closed those evenings we chose them and she had no idea.

Additionally, we were given a brochure that offered a promotion at the spa - but when we went to the spa it was clear that the promotion was expired and they checked with the manager before "honoring" it. Well, thanks for the favor, but next time don't hand out that brochure!

Finally - we paid the resort fees which included (allegedly) treats by the pool, but we spent an entire afternoon by the pool and were offered nothing.

Anyhow, these are all fairly minor quibbles in the context of a terrific 3-night stay at what was genuinely one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. Okay, so they're working out the kinks, but if you can swing it, it's well worth treating yourself.

(p.s. as a side note - we stopped by for lunch at the Ritz-Carlton San Juan and have been to a couple other hotels on the island - there is no comparison. At the others you could be in Florida, but at the St Regis, you truly are in a unique destination)

Prior reviews lowered my expectations of this new resort. Thankfully, it was a fine experience - not great and worth $1100 per nite plus charges but fine. The overriding negative for us was that there were too many families and children --- and some very large families (20+) which made pool experiences and restaurant experiences somewhat challenging. The pool and poolside restaurant SeaGrapes was the best managed of the resort facilities (as well as the spa). All the staff was quite poliye and friendly everywhere! However, concierge is the weakest (rarely answered the phone, was unaware of certain services that were prepaid or complimenary, didn't seem to communicate with the reception desk staff, etc.) Fern was very good but not excellent --- the staff was friendly but need more training AND needs a more visibile floor manager. Table cloths for dinner would improve the ambience and dim those lights in the main dining room. Most important for the 7-day stays --- have one or two nightly specials- The menu got boring after 4 or 5 days. The pool is beautiful, and water is tolerable but not heated. Would recommend making one of the three pools adult only --- please!!!!! The beach is beautiful and so wonderful to walk any time of the day ---- Our neighbors one veranda over were smokers which really bothered us when we tried to relax on our porch. Recommend some buildings be made "Smoke free" including outdoor spaces. All in all- this will become Puerto Rico's finest property in short time IF the GM reads and acts on these 55 plus reviews. They covered just about everything! Speaking of the GM - we were there for 7 days and saw him frequently but he never approached us. What's up with that?

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent visit to our resort.

We are pleased that you enjoyed Seagrapes, Remède Spa, and service in general. We are quite passionate about pampering our guests, and will continue to strive for excellence in all areas.

However, at St. Regis Bahía Beach, our service is about being seamless and unobtrusive.

We thank you again for your comments and do hope that we will have the pleasure of seeing you again in the near future.

Warm regards,

This new hotel is beautiful. The rooms are perfect - big, clean, and modern. Overall I would say it is almost a 5 star. It is very very close, but not quite there yet. The biggest disappointment is the main Fern restaurant. It is overpriced and the menu is actually a little boring. The service at the restaurant was polite, but a little cold and impersonal.

The room service was also a let down. We only had one room service order, which was for a breakfast on our last day. My wife ordered a bakery basket for $12, which turned out to be nothing more than one very small muffin that was barely 2 inches wide. I know if you are staying at a St. Regis you are not looking for cheap prices, but that was pretty ridiculous.

The other 2 restaurants were fine for us. The pool restuarant is nice for lunch, and the restaurnt by the golf course is by far the best. It had the best wait staff, and the best menu.

Normally I would not care about the restaurants so much. However, this property is rather remote, and so if you stay there, you will probably also eat there at least part of the time. I recommend the one at the Golf Course.

But if you want a beautiful room, fabulous pool, and nice beach in Puerto Rico, this is the place to be.
