This brand new resort is only a few years old. We have stayed here for 2 years in a row during the month of February during presidents week. The resort had kids of all ages which was great for our 10 and 6 year old kids. The kids club is great and the pool, rooms, staff is all top notch. You literally walk through a pathway in the jungle to get to different parts of the resort. They also have staff with golf carts to take you all over. I would highly recommend this for couples or familes.

Room Tip: if your looking for adjoining rooms building 700 or 800.

It's hard to find something to complain about. I hadn't been to Puerto Rico in many years. This was definitely the nicest place I've been to. The resort is absolutely lovely - huge, tastefully decorated rooms, beautiful landscaping, excellent pool complex, friendly staff, good facilities. Excellent food options, including a Jean-George restaurant. We didn't play tennis or golf, but the golf course looked beautiful. The resort is well secluded, with nary a view of other resorts or any other man-made structure of any kind. Perhaps the best feature is the spectacular 2 mile beach, excellent for swimming and walking. I never saw more than 15 people on the beach at any one time, and you could walk all the way to either end and not see another person. Very tranquil. I thought the room was very reasonably priced to begin with, but we were graced with a complimentary upgrade to a fabulous, gigantic suite, on the top floor with butler service. If there was one thing to complain about, I would say that the $60 daily resort fee was a little excessive, especially since it didn't include the $25 daily parking. The fee did cover free use of bicycles, kayaks, tennis, gym , etc. But I though $60 was a bit much. If I had played tennis every day, it might have been a different story. They are also planning quite a bit of expansion, so go there now, while it's still pretty quite and uncrowded.

Room Tip: You won't find any rooms that have great ocean views, so save money and opt for the golf or gard...

Saludos from St. Regis Bahía Beach!

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments regarding your visit.

We are thrilled that you had such a fabulous stay, and took advantage of every aspect of our intimate and peaceful tropical atmosphere. As you point out, the exquisite beauty of our natural surroundings, make for a very magical location and we are proud to be the first Certified Gold Audubon Signature Sanctuary in the Caribbean.

Again, thank you for the gift of feedback, and we hope to welcome you back soon to your home away from home, and our Island of Enchantment, Puerto Rico.

We stayed in July at this property. I decided to write the review now as we are planning our 2013 vacation and thought it would have been nice to read this before planning my trip here.
Entering the property, it is gorgeous. The entire grounds are well maintained. Checking in was a little confusing as there is not a traditional front desk. After standing around for several minutes, someone finally came and helped us…this was what we came to find as the big draw back. Service was not very good. Very friendly staff, but they did not seem to be trained or led well. The food was good, but the options were slim on property and no convenient places close by off property. There is a beautiful beach, but any wind kicks the sand up pretty good and there was wind every day. If you want to go just about anywhere, you need to get a ride in a golf cart. You call and ask for a ride and they are pretty good at getting you there fairly quickly. Determining what was open when was difficult as the information online did not match what was posted in the room, which did not match the actual hours and days of operation. The water sports were nice, but on an inland pond. The sailing was bad due to swirling wind and confined space. This could be a great property, but not under the current management. I tried to speak with the GM, but was told I would need to hunt him down. This kind of summed up the week. If you want something you are going to have to chase it down yourself. Happy to do it, but I expect to pay Sheraton rates, not St Regis rates. We enjoyed ourselves there, but came away feeling we had paid a great deal and missed out on a lot.

Room Tip: Do not get a ground floor room...no view and the bugs on the patio are terrible

We had planned a trip to Puerto Rico with some good friends for our wedding anniversary - both are on the same day, July 18 -our 25th, their 20th. Originally, I had booked a reservation for the Ritz Carlton. Later that day, I stumbled across the St Regis when I was looking to see if there was a better place to stay. Glad I did - and cancelled the Ritz in a heart beat. My wife had no idea that i had booked this place - I had our 3 kids with us, and made sure that I booked them an extra, separate room. We had the Astor Suite, and kids had a deluxe room - both rooms were connected by a common foyer - perfect - The hotel is off the beaten path, and about 30 minutes outside San Juan - dont waste a day in San Juan - stay at the resort! our first night at the hotel, we arrived a bit late, and had dinner at Molasses - Excellent! We woke each morning and ate breakfast at Fern, overlooking the ocean, as we sat out on the porch - The service was excellent, and the food was perfect. Our Suite was stunning - I read several reviews where guest complained about the rooms being tired? I dont know how they arrived at that conclusion - The room was perfect, spacious, relaxing, and the most important part - I couldnt hear the kids in the next room - I have twin daughters age 15, and a son, age 9. They loved this place, and asked why we could stay at places like this from now on...... We spent our days at the pool, where we would catch the occasional iguana swimming in the pool - The pool area is huge, and was never crowded - if you want to get away in a little cove with your wife - no issues, and very romantic. We ventured out and took the nature tour around grounds - great way to see it all, and the girls running the tour were very informative - One other note, transportation around the resort is either on foot or by golf cart - we chose to walk - nothing was too far away, and the walks were very pleasant, especially at night- we did opt for the cart when heading to dinner at Molasses - only a short wait! no big deal - I will be back! If you are looking for the ultimate resort location away from the noise of the city, and surrounded by nature - nothing but beauty and peacefulness, you are wasting your time if you go anywhere else in Puerto Rico, and I would argue the Caribbean! I did ask for one special service when we arrived - our butler dropped rose pedals in the room from the bed to bathroom, and around the tub with candles(electric) lit - absolutely incredible! my wife's reaction was what I wanted and expected - totally surprised - This hotel does it right! Staff is exceptional..I had zero complaints! Exceptional!

Room Tip: Get the AAA rate - it makes it that much more worthwhile! And if you have the time to go to the Zip...

This was an amazing resort, and the pictures online do not even do it justice. It is the middle of a nature preserve. There is so much included in the resort fee, including bikes, sailboats, and kayaks. It is on the most beautiful golf course. The food was spectacular. All the way from room service to all three restaurants. It was simply amazing. We also loved the poolside service and ate lunch at our pool chairs a lot. Pools were amazing; so relaxing. The rooms were clean, and the butler service was so helpful - everyone was so over the top friendly. We had everything we wanted at the resort. Rooms opened to gardens overlooking ocean - and were huge - two showers and deep tub. It's on a private beach so watching the sunset is nice and private. The resort is the reason we traveled to Puerto Rico, and it was well worth every penny. We would go back just to stay in this resort. St. Regis is the way to go; simply perfect. So incredibly relaxing - 4 days felt like two weeks! Beautiful beach and pools ... loved it!

Room Tip: Rooms near the plantation house is nice because it is close to the pool (and restaurants)! If yo...

Just returned from a 2 night stay. The resort grounds are gorgeous with plenty of activities (bike ride through the grounds, golf, kayaks, paddle boards, fishing). The beach is nice but the water isn't very clear. The pool is huge but I did not see any of the complimentary popsicles and cold towels as mentioned on the website. We did enjoy the daily s'mores at 5:30pm.
Food: Seagrapes was a huge disappointment. Bar type food (burgers, sandwiches) were very mediocre. We ended up eating all our meals at Fern since the prices were comparable with Molasses and enjoyed all our meals there. The breakfast buffet looked a bit sad though so we ordered a la carte.
Our biggest complaint is with the hotel service. We arrived at 2pm on Saturday and our rooms were not ready until after 4pm. Our parents' room had an alarm going on all weekend in the foyer and the a/c was noisy and squeaky. Housekeeping was not to a high standard and when we requested extra lotion as this was not replaced daily, we had to ask twice and it still did not come. Only until we ran into a housekeeper on our way to dinner was this resolved. However, the managerial staff were at least responsive to our complaints, but I expected more from a resort such as the St Regis. Compared to our experiences at the Four Seasons, there is definitely room for improvement.
Had a nice massage at the spa though the masseuse had should cut her nails! We LOVED the huge bathroom with double showers and in-mirror TV though. That was probably the highlight of our stay....

About Reviewer: Gold Starwood member, Travel 4-8 times per year with family (kids age 7 & 11), High-end, luxury hotel preference. Travel dates: Aug. 24-Sep.1, 2012.

About Hotel: Superb grounds and facilities, clean, spacious rooms and bathrooms. Service is extraordinary - hotel worker noticed my son's shoes were not tied and actually took the time to tie them! This hotel is well suited for discerning hotel travellers (both couples and families with kids) seeking a secluded getaway with lots of on-site activities (nature trails, biking, kayaking, tennis, golf). It's not for you if you want to party like a rockstar, or want easy, daily access to Old San Juan (45 min. drive). Go to La Concha if you want to party.

Area Recommendations: Puerto Rico has a lot to offer for a Caribbean destination...not just a beach. Check out 4 must dos:
1. El Yunque rainforest (swim at La Mina Falls)
2. BioBay tour on Vieques Island. Stay at the W in Vieques for 1 night (also a starwood hotel). Biobay on Vieques is the brightest in the world and tour guide will drive you right to the kayaks (unlike other tours where you need to walk thru the mangroves at night). My kids loved it. There's one in Fajardo that is more convenient, but 3x the cost...you're better off exploring Vieques, better tour at lower cost, great beaches, and W starwood hotel.
3. Old San Juan. Stay at the Ritz for 1 night and see Old San Juan and the old forts. Dine at Marmalade or Aguaviva (dinner), or Parrot Club (lunch) in Old San Juan.
4. Flamenco beach on Coulebra Island (rated #2 beach in the world).

Kids had an awesome time. Can't wait to go back. If you have high standards, don't be fooled by other reviewers recommending the Waldorff. St. Regis is the best hotel in Puerto Rico, the only 5-star. I drove by the Waldorff Conquistador and checked out the grounds. You're better off at St. Regis and if you're a starwood member you won't mind spending a bit more money, and earning some rewards and complimentary upgrades in the process.
