“Good value but not 4 star”
Reviewed May 21, 2014

We found many things to like and dislike about the Wyndham. At check in we were upgraded to an ocean view room. The pool, gardens and beach are very nice. The property is in a remote location so a car is a must. The hotel has valet parking or self-parking in the garage. There is a $15 a day fee to self-park. We got back late one night and there weren't many parking spots left and the next day we had to park in another lot across the street. The restaurants on the property are good but pricey. We did eat on the property most of the time because it was more convenient. We were very pleased with the concierge desk and especially, Edgar. They were very helpful and gave us lots of great tips. We had a problem with our room card key, we had to try it multiple times in order to get it to work. The bathroom floor needed to be cleaned and the tile and caulk in the shower needed repair. There is a safe in the room. No mini refrigerator. We had trouble with some of the channels on the TV coming in clearly. We were woken up one morning telling us our breakfast was on it's way but we hadn't ordered breakfast. The rainforest was nearby but was closed due to flooding. I would recommend the hotel but just don't think it is a 4 star hotel.

We got newly renovated room and it was nice .Rainforest is nearby however we could not go its 45 minutes away from the city/airport so nothing to do at night. There is a casino on property.everything is expensive on property. hardly any restaurant around. you are pretty much stuck at the hotel if you dont have a rental car. It did have a pretty nice trails. Beach was dirty. I actually saw a dead mouse. I dont know how it got there. I knew that this place is away from the city but I expected to enjoy the beach and Rainforest and I couldnt do any of those.

Room Tip: Ask for newly renovated room.

We cannot begin to thank the staff for everything they did for us during our stay at this beautiful resort 5/2/14-5/7/14. The resort was beautiful, our view was amazing, the food was delicious, and the staff was over the top! Midway through our stay we were robbed of everything but our clothes while out on our own for the day. If not for all of the staff, we wouldn't have even been able to get back to the resort. They sent a taxi to pick us up at their expense and welcomed us back with open arms and reassurance. We were immediately offered use of personal cell phones to make the appropriate calls, and given a food & beverage credit so we could eat during our remaining time. Upon realizing our travel information was in the car (that we could not access) staff rushed to print out copies of our itinerary. In all of the chaos we realized we would need cash to check our luggage, pay for gas in the returned rental car, and eat sometime following check out. Staff accommodated this need by using our incidentals deposit. If not for that, we literally would have left the resort with $5.00 in loose change, definitely not enough! Thank you does not seem sufficient enough for what everyone did for us. They truly were angels in disguise, and made one of the most trying times we've experienced thus far much less stressful and scary. They fully embodied the phrase "customer service," taking care of us in a way we still can't believe. Neither of us believes we would have been taken care of in such such a way had we stayed at "just a hotel."
During the times we were at the resort throughout our week, we had delicious sushi many times, great drinks, were able to relax at the adults only pool when we needed quiet, and played in the activity pool when we wanted to feel like kids again. The beach was pristine and we were blessed to find many whole sand dollars (something nearly unheard of here!) We fully recommend this resort to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation! Renovations seem to be nearly done, so there was no hassle regarding noise or inconvenience.

The manager Jose and his front desk clerk Luis were not only extremely rude when my bag containing everything needing to do my job somehow comes up missing from hotel no questions were answered was told I didn't look hard enough for my bag and that they couldn't do anything at that time to help me so 3 days later my bag mysteriously arrives and surprise surprise some of my tools were missing out of my case and everything had been ransacked!!! If you stay keep close eye on your luggage rate them very poor!!! Still awaiting report from investigation of stolen goods

1. You can't walk anywhere from here.
2. Must rent car to shop.
3. 45 minutes from everything, airport included.
4. Beach is dirty.
5. Hotel restaurants are EXPENSIVE. Nothing is free, not even a muffin at breakfast.
6. Parking is expensive at hotel.
7. Views from hotel are amazing.
8. Room was nice.
9. No fridge in rooms. I had a forest view king bed room.
10. Puerto Rico driving is nothing less than terrifying.

I won't be back to PR period but if I ever do return...I will stay near Old San Juan.

We chose the Wyndham based on its website, and looked forward to a 4 day break to unwind and de-stress after a busy season. On arrival was very disappointed with the room, very tired and shabby, hall carpets very soiled. Glasses from previous occupants room service still outside the door for the first night. Floors in the room very sticky to walk on, safe didn't work, a/c was very noisy, bedside phone handset didn't work. We went and complained at the front desk, and to be fair they fixed the safe! We were not offered a better room. We had booked an ocean view king, so we could look out over the ocean and relax, but were given a room on the ground floor, the view of the ocean was a glimpse of the beach through a building in the garden and through a gap in the bank between the beach and the garden. Thinking that other trip advisor reviews may have been overly harsh we gave each of the restaurants a try, and was appalled at the standards, quality and value of them all except the Asian restaurant which was actually very good. The Marbella restaurant was the worst, compounded by being served vodka and tonic rather than the requested gin and tonic, only for the waiter to tell us that it was Kettle 1 gin! Kettle 1 is vodka! He completely tried to convince me on that, the bar staff later confirmed I was correct and was given Vodka. On the second day we went out for the whole day from about 10:00 am until 7:00 pm and on return our room hadn't been made up. Coffee making kit in the room, but only 1 decaf and 2 regular coffee sachets supplied, then next day 2 decaf and 1 regular, etc, etc. It is sad that the Wyndham seems to fall far short of the hotel it clearly once was and well short of what it portrays itself to be. I was pleased we were only staying 4 days there and left far from relaxed as I didn't get a single decent night's sleep due to the noisy a/c, relieved to move on to another hotel and a decent night's sleep.
