The most outstanding meal we experienced during our entire 3 weeks vacation in France was at the Terrasse, La Cote Vermeille in Port Vendres.
Although we did not have a reservation we received a very friendly welcome and were given a table for two with an idyllic view of the pretty port and township.
The table service was outstanding, the food was exceptional and the presentation wonderful.
This is a first class restaurant and should be a treat for anyone visiting Port Vendres.

Cote Vermeille was recommended by family members who've been eating here for years. They come every year. As we were hoildaying nearby we joined them and I can honestly say that it was one of the best meals I've ever eaten. The fish was exquisite, the attention to detail impeccable and the service unobtrusive, yet efficient.
The set menus represent fantastic value for money. For 50 euros we had 4 courses plus an amuse bouche and a mini chocolate pre pudding. My husband ordered coffee which came with a plate of petit fours. Everything was simply delicious with imaginative combinations and stunning presentation.
If you are in the area you must go here; I can't recommend it highly enough!

we found Port-Vendres by accident when we couldnt get parked in Colloure. The port is huge and we walked all the way around past all the resturants on the other side trying to find this place, to be told it was on the opposite side, just past the church. Nethertheless we found it, all on its on and just opening. We were very lucky to get a table, as the reservations list was at least 10 tables long. The service was fantastic. All the courses were announced when brought to the table. I have to say that my French is not as good as my Spanish and I was pretty much guessing what i actually ordered. Anyhow, we were not disappointed. We had 4 courses and half a bottle of wine (driving). Each course was outstanding. I highly recommend the macaroon biscuit dessert....divine!

Anyway, to not review this resturant would be a massive shame for all the fellow trip advisor reviewers, as this place is absolutely first class. If you are within a 20 mile radius, you should visit them.

Myself and 3 friends went for a birthday lunch. We booked the table for 12.30 on the terrace
(upstairs , less formal and better views of the sea) .
3 of us opted for the menu du jour ( 3 course 27.50euros) which consisted of Tuna with Tomato Escabeche ( entree) Pagre with confit legumes ( plat) and Raspberry terrine ( Desert)
The birthday girl opted for Serrano Ham ( starters) which came as a platter with gazpacho and beautiful bread, Monkfish with legumes , 2 bottles of house white and 2 coffees later we were delighted with ourselves for having booked the table. We really had the best fish we have tasted for a long time and the monkfish ( which is often ruined) was perfect !!
The food , service and ambiance was just prefect and we all said what a great find . We would definitely recommend you to try it. Our only improvement would have been a few more people , at most there were six tables with other guests.

on our annual trip to the beautiful resort of collioure that has many wonderful restaurants we decided to try some of the restaurants in the neighbouring village of port vendres';we had a nice meal in la cote vermeille cote terrasse ,however it was spoilt when we found a fully intact dead maggott at the end of the sauce dish.no apology was given except to explain that the insect must have come from the mushrooms in the sauce,the sauce wasnt of a lumpy consistency so may have been liquidised but why wasnt the maggott liquidised also?or did it come from somewhere else in their kitchen.they had the audacity to charge us for the offending dish which i paid for in full without further complaint ,never to return.
