Description: On crossing the wooden bridge that leads to Ristorante Pappagallo, you will see swimming beneath there are sleek silvery tarpon, always on the lookout for scraps from the kitchen. You are thus, thrown into a world of the exotic, even before reaching the front door! Then, as you enter the spacious foyer, you're met at the front door by an African gray parrot, humorously called Humphrey Bogart. He is one of the oldest Pappagallo employees with over ten years experience in welcoming guests and posing for photos (especially with the little ones!). You will then immediately notice the inviting and well-stocked bar, decorated in an art deco style, where customers can take pre-dinner drinks or enjoy an after dinner drink in a cool and inviting atmosphere. On your right hand side, lies one of our two dining rooms, the Pappagallo Room. Inside, the impressive high ceiling will grab your attention, with its typical Mexican-style thatching. Wrought iron lights gently illuminate the air-conditioned room and huge glass-fronted bird cages feature all around the walls housing live parrots, macaws, cockatoos and African grays, all vying for your attention. The walls are also decorated with colorful pictures of parrots and a giant turtle shell which came from a 500 pound green sea turtle, which was raised in Cayman at West Bay's Turtle Farm. All this, and a great view of the waterfall cascading into the lagoon directly outside the room... how can you possibly forget that you are dining in a tropical paradise? On your left hand side of the foyer is the Flamingo Room, also with a fabulous thatched roof, this time in a traditional Cayman style. The entire roofing used 100,000 fronds and took over 6 months to construct - no mean feat. The Flamingo Room is left open to catch the cooling breeze, but is air-conditioned when the weather dictates. Here, you can enjoy a fabulous panoramic view over the lagoon. Large prints of flamingos decorate the walls and again, wrought iron lights lend their soft glow.Beyond this room lies a third eating area, the Garden Patio, a large screened- in porch where diners eat al fresco during the cooler winter months. This also has a magnificent lagoon view and Pappagallo usually caters for large parties & weddings here.

We held a special anniversary party in the Pappagallo Room at Restorante Pappagallo. The team was very good to deal with, and the room is attractive, and feels open. The restaurant provided everything they had promised. The service was excellent, attentive and professional. The food was delicious, and the special cake we ordered was a big hit. I highly recommend Restorante Pappagallo for special events as well as for casual dining.

I really enjoyed our meal at Pappagallo's. The welcome is warm, the service was really good and we had an interesting chat with the waiter about Italian wines. There are always interesting fresh special dishes and an excellent selection of pasta. In the winter months, the restaurant opens out to seat you over the lagoon's edge, with fans a pleasant natural breeze (there are bug screens to keep you comfortable) and so you are out of air-conditioning - see if you can spot the heron!

The food is very good and you won't be disappointed. Portions are good and flavours well balanced.

The drive is a bit of an adventure the first couple of times, but there are signs for Pappagallo at all the right places, and it's a nice way to arrive and go home past the sleeping island.

Don't forget to visit the pairs of parrots which are to one side of the building either when you arrive or before you leave (as well as the resident African Grey).

During my stay in Cayman I am always looking forward to dine at Pappagallo which I believe is in his on right with Brasserie the 2 best dining restaurant on Island.

We had an 8.30 reservation, they could not accommodated us earlier, even though was a little later than what we usually are accustoms to, but is understandable this time of the year, we where escorted right away to our table.

Our waiter greeted us as we where sitting down, took our drink order and explained the daily special, a few minute later with our cocktail already been served, our server stop by and ask us if we where ready to order, we told them a few more minute and he oblige us.

The new additions to the menu are wonderful: I really loved the warm octopus on top of a warm potatoes, as well as the new homemade Jerk preparation for the daily catch of the day, the dry age bone in NY is a nice addition also and I love the new presentation of the pork tenderloin, and the fresh local lobster was excellent, we manage to have the last one. KUDOS

In retrospective the 4 of us commented how even though the place was pack as never seen before, from the manager who greeted us at the door, and then walk around asking every table if everything was all right, to the owner which stop by our table for a brief conversation, to our server and his support staff, they all work as a well oil machine, providing a seamless dining experience with top quality food and uncompromised service.

Service was a little slow, even by island terms, but the food was good. Not any cheaper than the nicer restaurants down town though.
