Description: On crossing the wooden bridge that leads to Ristorante Pappagallo, you will see swimming beneath there are sleek silvery tarpon, always on the lookout for scraps from the kitchen. You are thus, thrown into a world of the exotic, even before reaching the front door! Then, as you enter the spacious foyer, you're met at the front door by an African gray parrot, humorously called Humphrey Bogart. He is one of the oldest Pappagallo employees with over ten years experience in welcoming guests and posing for photos (especially with the little ones!). You will then immediately notice the inviting and well-stocked bar, decorated in an art deco style, where customers can take pre-dinner drinks or enjoy an after dinner drink in a cool and inviting atmosphere. On your right hand side, lies one of our two dining rooms, the Pappagallo Room. Inside, the impressive high ceiling will grab your attention, with its typical Mexican-style thatching. Wrought iron lights gently illuminate the air-conditioned room and huge glass-fronted bird cages feature all around the walls housing live parrots, macaws, cockatoos and African grays, all vying for your attention. The walls are also decorated with colorful pictures of parrots and a giant turtle shell which came from a 500 pound green sea turtle, which was raised in Cayman at West Bay's Turtle Farm. All this, and a great view of the waterfall cascading into the lagoon directly outside the room... how can you possibly forget that you are dining in a tropical paradise? On your left hand side of the foyer is the Flamingo Room, also with a fabulous thatched roof, this time in a traditional Cayman style. The entire roofing used 100,000 fronds and took over 6 months to construct - no mean feat. The Flamingo Room is left open to catch the cooling breeze, but is air-conditioned when the weather dictates. Here, you can enjoy a fabulous panoramic view over the lagoon. Large prints of flamingos decorate the walls and again, wrought iron lights lend their soft glow.Beyond this room lies a third eating area, the Garden Patio, a large screened- in porch where diners eat al fresco during the cooler winter months. This also has a magnificent lagoon view and Pappagallo usually caters for large parties & weddings here.

“Ristorante Pappagallo is a must”

Combination of excellent food, beautiful location and very welcoming staff make this restaurant THE ONE we return to when we are in the Caymans for scuba diving vacations. As long as you have a vehicle, it's a relatively easy drive from Seven Mile Beach now that there is improved signage. We were lucky enough to have a tour of the kitchen a couple of years ago -- no wonder the food is excellent. Their fresh pasta, created with care on site, is amazing.

“Beautiful Location and Food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2012

This restaurant is truly in a beautiful location overlooking a lagoon and a great find. Beautiful ambiance and outdoor seating, you would need to drive there or get a taxi. You are greeted by a parrot called Humphrey Bogart. The food is out of this world, I ordered grilled calamari for my starter, it was prefectly cooked. Main course I had lobster and I have never seen so much lobster on one plate!! My husband had veal and again this did not disappoint. It also has an extensive wine list and a great place to go for a special occasion, We tried this place on our last night in Grand Cayman and it certainly made it memorable for our last meal on the island.

The staff are very attentive and we were there during the quiet season, so this gave the waiters more time to chat to us.

“Good northern Italian food. Dramatic location.”

If you like veal this is a good choice. Veal piccata with lots of lemon and capers was my favorite. It's easy to find because there are big signs at every turn you have to make. The restaurant overlooks a lagoon. Also features fresh fish (wahoo seems to be the fish of GC) prepared four different ways which is an improvement over having the chef decide. The owner is usually wandering around greeting his regulars and new guests - nice to see that.

“Beautiful restaurant with excellent food.”

I loved the ambiance of this restaurant and the fact that you are greeted at the door by Humphrey Bogart, the African Grey Parrot that has greeted clients for the past 22 years. We were a party of six and each person's entree was not only lovely to look at but was delicious. I had tiger shrimp which were some of the best I have eaten. The restaurant is a bit of a drive up in West Bay but well worth the trip.
