Some believed that this was the biggest shopping mall in Australia - so many shops available and to choose from. The mall itself was a very pleasant place to visit and spend the day with a lot of choice of nice selections in the food court.

As a local, I can tell you that you will find pretty much everything you need at this shopping centre. It's known as the Fashion Capital of Australia and has beautiful architectural styling. From luxury brands such as Tiffany, Prada, Louis Vuitton etc down to chain stores like Zara, Just Jeans, Sportsgirl, Seed, Portmans, Country Road, Kmart, Target and Vans. There is plenty of food and all kinds of shops.

The one issue with this shopping centre if you're a tourist, is that it is very hard to get to. Not a lot of public transport will get you there and a Taxi will set you back about $45+ from the city. There are tourist shuttle buses from the city every so often.

Chadstone Shopping Centre is the largest shopping centre in theSouthern Hemisphere and you need to remember that before you visit. Plan ahead! It's confusing and the signage is inadequate and it is also tiring - so wear comfortable shoes on those hard tiled floors! If you're planning to have lunch at Chadstone - somewhere other than the food court offerings - there really is nowhere special to sit down with a glass of wine. Capital Kitchen comes close, but it is a popular place for 'yummy mummies' and the mornings are always crowded with prams and pushers. A chicken and avocado sandwich costs $12 (yes, $12!) and you still have to order yourself at the cash register! But the best places for coffee are newly renovated Koko Black (near Myer) or Laurent (near DJs).

Chadstone has the best layout and range of shops in Australia. Nothing comes close to it as you will definitely find whatever you are looking for here. Parking can be an issue and can take a little while.

Every store imaginable plus some I've never heard of, under one enormous roof.

I caught the free bus from Fed Square. At time of print is was running on Wednesdays at 10am with a return at 3pm. And Thursdays & Fridays at 10 and 11 am with returns at 3 and 4.30pm. The trip there takes about 30 minutes and the return trip (via highway) just 15 minutes. A brilliant service for visitors.

For shopaholics, Chadstone shopping centre, is a must. Seemed to have all the same SALES that were on offer in the city as well.

The centre itself is, as many large shopping centres, confusing to say the least but very light and architecturally attractive.

If you have a spare day to fill in after all the 'usual' Melbourne attractions, well worth a visit.
