“Nice garden for a walk w/ great view”
Reviewed December 31, 2013 via mobile

The botanical garden was big and nice with huge trees, and no food vendors to disturb your walk. We can stroll around in the garden area and for you who want more challenge and sweat you can walk to the small falls, though the view at the falls is disappointing. A pity the garden authority dont provide maps for visitor. And more flowers would be nicer :)

“Tall Gigantic Trees, Lush Ground, Sakura Flower in Bloom, Beautiful!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

The Botanical Garden was located at Puncak Area. Access was easy, but again, consider the open-close traffic hour from-to Ciawi-Puncak in planning the time of set-off or return. Otherwise, being stuck when the traffic is opened only one way, would be so wasting time. Usually the one way traffic time is: 9-11 a.m one way Ciawi to Puncak; 15-17 p.m one way Puncak to Ciawi, given or taken 2 hours.

The area was huge, around 125 hectares. Vehicles were allowed to go around inside the garden. But, walking was very nice, among tall gigantic trees, on the lush green covered ground, breathing the fresh air, under mild weather. There were three waterfalls, two were close to main gate, another one (Ciismun) was located at the south-east far-end.

It was a long trek from main gate to the last waterfall. We passed through the Rhododendron garden (lots of colorful Azaleas), Pengembangan Waterfall, Sakura Garden (first blooms of Sakura soooo beautiful), Cibogo Waterfall, Bougenville Road, Dahlia Beds, Medicinal Plants Garden, Guest House, forest, stream, finally! Ciismun Waterfall.

Then, the road back, hiking up the off-beaten trek! Came out of the trek to see the tall gigantic Eucalyptus in rows, so amazing ... Then, towards another Guest House, Green Houses (where all kinds of cactus grown), Roses Beds, exotic African trees, Pines, Lychens Garden, Ferns Garden, big pond, huge lawn where families having their picnic, and back to the path heading the main gate.

The whole place was well taken care of, clean. A very refreshing walk.

“Refreshing Atmosphere, Excellent for Groups or Children”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Rather than garden, I prefer to categorize KRC as forest. They indeed have gardens in some corners such as sakura garden, titan arum garden, lichen garden, fern garden, etc... but not that significant. What KRC offers the most is open grass field which is stunning due to its hilly contour, and old, big trees where people camp under. The temperature is around 18-24 degrees, even under direct sunlight you will still feel refreshing breeze. If you are lucky (or unlucky, depending how you feel about animals) you can meet wild gray monkeys. Be careful, sometimes they are too curious about what you eat or what to bring, and they will try to steal one.
KRC is perfect for group or family with children, they can play ball or ride horses. They also provide basic facility such as booth selling snacks or drinks, toilets, parking space, rubbish bin, etc. In peak season, there are women offering mat for rent if you forget to bring one. Sadly, some idiotic still threw away plastic/Styrofoam trash, cigarettes, candy or snack wrap wherever their stupid head want, which made this forest a bit dirty in some places. But overall, KRC is still a very beautiful place and worth a visit.
More than 20 years ago when the first time I visited KRC, it was much colder, quieter, and basically had almost nothing but forest. But now, I think they have been doing some development so they now they have access for cars to explore the forest. I think it's good, but in the other hand I hope they will keep the natural touch of this amazing forest.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

Entry was cheap into the gardens although we didn't pay the extra to go into the palace due to time. The locals were certainly amused by us wearing shorts, being tourists we stuck out a mile and had numerous offers for photographs to be taken with them! Lots to see a worth a visit.
