A superbly located hotel for the ski slopes - and a great ski locker room with ski in-ski out convenience. The hotel is extremely well run with efficient and professional staff. Food is generally very good quality. Rooms are superb - clean, well appointed and superbly comfortable beds. My family thoroughly enjoyed staying here for 8 days. Not the cheapest but well worth the cash. We will go again and we are hard to please!

It's challenging to find somewhere decent for late march skiing. Trysil is a gem. Just over 2 hours north of Oslo it has great skiing in March.

By Alps standard it's not a big resort but perfectly suited to families and beginners. The accommodation choices were limited and Radisson Blu has a bit of monopoly but they do it very well.

Excellent front desk staff were so welcoming and engaging. English only speakers not a problem throughout the resort. Whether at the swimming pool, bowling, restaurants or bar everyone made us feel welcome.

The hotel has excellent facilities for families - great swimming pool, bowling and entertainment area. The restaurant choices were good - though in our week the main restaurant was shut. Very well organised resort with ski lockers accessed using room key passes (and swimming pool lockers too!). Ski in/Out was huge bonus and close to main "tourist centre" very handy. Downside is that ski hire is a hike up the hill and not available in the hotel.

Go for halfboard option if you can - it's weird as only gives you option for a "main and dessert" (not starter) but it is reasonable value given prices (and quality) in other restaurants around the resort. Norway and resort are not cheap so also bear that in mind. The inclusive breakfast is fantastic though - a true smorgasbord of options!

Another bit of advice - stock up in duty free on booze (spirits and wine - check limits but they are good). You can only buy alcohol under 4.75% in supermarkets otherwise you have to go to the government controlled off-licence in town (vinmonopolet) - it's a 20min walk downhill to get there and not a great choice either.

This is a great place for families with beginner/intermediate skiers. The hotel caters very well for families and the skiing has excellent green and blue runs (but also some of the best pisted blacks I've ever been on!). Thoroughly recommend as alternative to the Alps. Radisson Blu run a tight ship with fantastic staff, good sized rooms and facilities.

Room Tip: Ask to be facing North...

Booked this hotel primarily due to the location. Its a large hotel with all usual facilities. We booked B&B and the breakfast had a good choice. Couldn't justify paying another £35 p/p for an evening meal but then again, Norway is a ridiculously expensive place!

Another issue for me is that its easy to ski (back) into the locker room but getting to the main area chair lift area is a different proposition. Its ok if you're young without kids. But going up steep hill with a young child and several skis is a very tough job. There is a travelator at the top of the hill but getting to this is a real pain each time!
The hotel should do something about this.

Also expected there to be complimentary bottles of water in the room as a four star but this is only a minor thing.

Dear guest!

Thank you for taking Your time to Write a review from Your latest star at the Radisson Blu Resort Trysil. We are glad to read that you enjoied Your stay.

Maybe we missed a clearer information how to easier acess the main lift. An option is to ski Down directly from the hotel to the kids area in "Eventyr" and there take the lift up to the Touristsenter.

Hope to see you back again soon.

Kind regards

We just needed a nice hotel for three nights close to the ski lifts, with a very good spa (which we had used during a trip two years ago) and of course good restaurants. We got all that as well as a wonderful breakfast which had everything you could wish for.

The Prestige Apartments at the Radisson Blue Resort have everything you need. A great little kitchen with under worktop fridge (no freezer compartment though :-(), 2-ring hob and small, multi-function oven and grill. There's not a lot of counter space so preparing anything too complex might be a challenge but for soup or cheese toasties it really is spot on!
The bedroom fits where it touches and is little larger than the double bed but having a wardrobe in there was an added bonus and means you can keep your ski gear completely separate to your civvies - a definite plus we thought.
The lounge and dining area of our open plan apartment was fabulous. We didn't use the sofabeds as there was only my husband and me, but we really enjoyed the spaciousness and the huge windows that made it very light and during the day and cosy and comfortable in the evening when we would light the (gas flame) fire and the tealights to enjoy a pre-dinner drink while we changed.
The hotel has 4 restaurant options. We were on a half-board package which gets you a main course and dessert in Chill Bowl and Dine ( a really great fun retro dinner with 10-pin bowling lanes you can book from reception), a main course and dessert in La Piazza (which you can't book but serves food until 10) and whatever you like in the Hill Breakfast and Buffet. The last option is a more formal and adult-oriented Brasserie T which charges an additional surcharge and really does need to be pre-booked but also has main course and dessert included within the half board package. The food was good in all of the options so the only real choice is deciding when you want to eat where and making sure you check the availability so you're not waiting too long although we never found this to be an issue at all.
All of the staff were fantastic - friendly, helpful and efficient. They really couldn't have done more for us. Make sure you get a ski locker when you check in because the well-equipped and spacious boot and ski room has slopeside access and saves you having to store all your equipment in your room.
The pool area was extremely busy and noisy during our stay, but it was during the Scandinavian half term so that was probably the worst it ever is. Although it does have a whirlpool and sauna along with the pool and other facilities, we didn't use it for this reason. Instead we chose to use the spa. this has an additional charge (NOK200 per person at Feb 2017) which felt a bit steep but it actually is worth the money with lovely facilities in a tranquil, relaxing and grown-up environment which is perfect after a long day on the slopes.
TIP: However, robes aren't provided in the rooms and access to the spa is via the swimming pool changing rooms (separated into his and hers and accessed with your room key) as it doesn't have any changing rooms or lockers of its own. When we go next (and we will most definitely be going again - probably in 2018) we will take our own robes so that we can simply walk through the changing rooms to the spa without having to actually use them.

Room Tip: the Prestige Apartments are fantastic and well worth the upgrade but take a robe - you'll thank me!
