Our memories of a wonderful holiday at Palm Island three years ago inspired us to return again in the hope that it would be the same experience. We were not disappointed as it had changed very little with some minor improvements. The food and wine was excellent and the cheerful staff and service wonderful. Everyone was so friendly including the other guests which made the holiday extra special. The island provides plenty of space when when you need it yet there was always a friendly face in the bar if you wanted to socialize. We enjoyed the entertainment particularly crab racing in the bar and the friendly cricket match ( though our team lost ). Many thanks to the manager Horace, supported by Anthony, who always seemed to be on hand to maintain the friendly and caring character of the hotel. How nice it was to be greeted on arrival and welcomed as a return guest. We do hope there will not be too many changes when we return again as the formula is just right for a totally relaxing, friendly and enjoyable holiday. We enjoyed our trips to the other islands close by and our daily walks around the island with plenty of wildlife and stunning views. To all the staff and the friends we met which made this a special holiday to remember a very big thank you.

My family and I went on holiday for my dads 50th birthday, we weren't expecting much and thought we would get bored quickly. BUT there was loads of entertainment and activities to do. Also the staff were a blessing every time I talked to one them they made me laugh and were really fun to talk to :P recommend coming with friends or the whole family. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!! Also there were mini bars full of drinks placed around the island.

Room Tip: Our room was in the middle of the island but we could still see the beach, which was perfect. Also a...

After returning from our fifth visit to this resort without a doubt this place is "Simply Perfect"
Everything in all our previous reviews and much, more.
Like being at home with all the luxury, safety, and added bonus of the sun, sea and not having a care in the world for two whole weeks, what more could any person want.
Fabulous from the moment you arrive greeted with genuine smiles, warmth and caring, passionate people who offer top class service and endeavour to deliver whatever you desire, the only thing you have to do is ask, this is the only genuine place I have visited that does understand the meaning of "Anticipate your needs" on a whole new level all the employees on Palm deliver a high level of effortless customer service with a smile.
Excellent quality and good home cooked food, served hot and fresh and to your liking, drinks made again exactly how you request and served with fun and style.
There is a huge team on Palm island working hard to make this the picture perfect relaxation holiday, and this place is exactly like the photos , from the grounds and maintenance team to housekeeping, service front and back of house I can commend each and every single person for what we consider our "Palm Island Family" Unique place that delivers 100%
Palm Island is running at its best and Thank You to Mr Horace Peterkin for bringing out the best in all the team, and we absolutely will endeavour to return.
If you are people who love natural beauty, connecting with the simple pleasures of seeing night become day, turtles being born under the sand on your feet, flowers opening in as the heat rises the morning, watching and hearing the waves roll, birds nesting, with all the lovely trimmings like clean sheets, bed notes, friends, food and drink, without having to connect with the outside world for one moment please visit Palm Love Tom and Nicola Fry Merry Christmas xxx

palm Island is a tranquil oasis surrounded by warm seas with a white sandy beach were one can escape from an ever increasing frenetic world with friendly staff dedicated to ensuring my stay was as relaxing as possible. The food and service was to a high standard throughout my stay with excellent house wines. however one minor niggle was the Saturdya buffet dinner where the main course chosen was only luke warm when it should have been hot.
Accommodation whilst not overtly luxurious was well appoinetd and comfortable

The island itself is very picturesque, with lots of varied scenery. The Iguana Trail and Point Look Out trails are a must for spectacular views.
The food was tasty, there was always an excellent choice and it was plentiful. The house wines were of a very good quality too.
We took a day trip on the Yannis catamaran, first to Mayreau Island for snorkelling and then on to the Tobago Cays for swimming with the turtles and more snorkelling., All in all a thoroughly enjoyable day out.
One evening we were very lucky to witness the hatching, gathering up and ‘releasing’ back to the sea of baby turtles on the beach outside the restaurant area. Horace, the General Manager had told everyone that this was going to take place and before the turtles were sent on their way he gave a talk about them.
The weekly cricket match between 4 mixed teams of staff and guests was great fun either as a participant or a spectator.
Yes we did get a few bites but nothing too bothersome and the provision of insect repellent in our room was appreciated even though we had brought our own with us.

What really made Palm Island so special for us was all the staff, including those that worked for Palm Island at Barbados airport and on Union Island. Everyone was so happy, friendly and helpful. You are made to feel very welcome and part of the Palm Island family from the moment you arrive at Bridgetown. My husband and I had such an amazing time that we are hoping to return the same time next year.

Judy and I spent our honeymoon on Palm Island. It was every thing that I wanted for a beautiful honeymoon. It was nice to bask on the warm waters and look back at the island and think you were in paradise. We had an issue with our first suite but this was rectified after two nights by the managing director without fuss and a rebate was given without hesitation. We were also a little disappointed with the repeated vegetables each day carrots and white cabbage it would be nice to vary this often. The staff were great friendly and always smileing and willing to help especially the reception staff, Antony and Kevin. One day we will be back to relax again, keep up the good work.

Room Tip: The beach front rooms are just as good as a suite which we had but you dont spend so much time in th...

We feel like this review isn't 100% of what we expected to write after visiting Palm Island. However, part of this is written from the perspective that so far most reviews have written everything is great (and many writing are on their honeymoons... :)).

Yes, definitely Palm Island is a nice resort. We also decided to go here because (1) we had not been to the Grenadines, (2) it is all inclusive=simpler, (3) it is on its own 'private' island, which sounds especially exotic.

We are writing from the perspective that we have been to a number of resorts and islands in the Caribbean and wanted to try something a bit different in terms of location. To be honest our main driver was we really wanted to go to the Tobago Cays, and Palm Island is close to here. BTW- that catamaran day trip (on Yannis) was just 100% super! Loved it and the locations (Mayreau and Tobago Cays) they take you to... just super!

Another item we like to look for aside from everything Palm Island has: super beach, swimming, clean, etc., is snorkelling. We were honestly a bit surprised that the snorkelling was not better from Palm Island itself (and we spent many hours in the water). The resort seems to want to protect and conserve, but there were some items around the piers that were eyesores... tires, ropes, etc., just lying on the bottom. Personally, it would be so lovely if someone would clean this up.

I suppose aside from this (yes we enjoyed it here) we have to agree with a few of the items that others have so far mentioned.

Sand flies. We have been to several (probably many) places where people complain about sand flies. We never have had issues. We did see others mentions the same here in other reviews, too many (and we thought, yes we've heard that before). In this case.. wow, yes there were too many sandflies. Many people had bites all over them. However there was 'Off' in the room which we took to the beach- and it seems to work. Honestly in the day there were not many people on the beach and we started to think after day 1 that it was because of sandflies. However, we are 100% beach people, so not going to the beach all day every day was not going to happen for us. We simply tolerated it and used the spray.

Internet. We can also appreciate they hotels motto is to 'slow down', 'relax' etc.. The only internet access is the main office and library areas. However from the standpoint of people like us of working age: internet, business people and social media users -to be honest.....the availability of wifi on the beach and in rooms would be so appreciated. When you see multiple guests every morning in the office area to use their internet -this says a bit more property-wide access would be appreciated.
Yes we came to slow down. Agreed. Absolutley. But we cannot hide from certain aspects of life that require us to be able to communicate with the outside world. Just would be more convenient if we could do so briefly a bit during the day or evening from our room or beach chair. :)

Beach life. Considering there are very few guests on the beach at any time -and the class level this resort wants to be/claims they are- the beach cups are essentially Dixie cups. To be honest, drinking a little beer out of Dixie-type cup isn't so great. And it makes garbage. Why not get some decent sized plastic glasses that drinks can be made in for the beach and washed? Considering there are so few guests at the hotel and on the beach at once the purchase of some glasses should not be too much of an issue. I guess we are making these comments against the level of service and quality of resort that Palm Island claims they are and wants to be. They are just missing a few details that would complete the place.

Food. We are not foodies... but to be honest, we were a bit surprised at the food at Palm Island. We had assumed there would be more selection, and somewhat more 'fancy', for lack of better description. The breakfast had a very simple buffet area, with a couple kinds of pastry, 3? kinds of fruit, couple kinds of cereal, banana pancakes, basic cheese and cold cuts... There was a breakfast a-la-carte menu that you could order from to add to this- it was quite typical. I guess we are just basing our comment on what Palm Island was stating about their chef and winner of awards: we've been to other places where choice and quality of breakfast items just knock you out of the park. We would say the same for lunch and dinner. A couple days were buffer dinner. The each BBQ was very nice, many choices. We again felt the menu items and very few choice for a-la-carte were a below we expected (it did change every day though). Not that we went hungry of course but just saying that we were a bit surprised based on expectations.

The one and - actually- irritating item was the birds at the breakfast & lunch (and usually not dinner as it was past their bedtime). Black, persistent, bold birds. Yes, this is the Caribbean and one should appreciate wildlife, we agree. We have been to many places where these birds are; the same birds. But... in other places, there are some methods of controlling them and keeping them (at least mostly- or to a controllable level) away from humans and the food they eat. It is a food safety concern- aside from being visually unpleasant- to have to have these black birds jumping all over the back of your chair, tables beside you, walking over tables and silverware of set up tables (that people will eat from)... it just is simply not clean. If you order eggs of any kind off the breakfast menu, these birds will literally land on your table and try (and usually are successful) grabbing them right off the plate you are eating off of. We saw this happen to numerous people. If a waitress brings butter, a bird will likely get to it before you do. This is just not a good idea for exposing people to Salmonella. The breakfast buffet has birds attaching pastries and pulling napkins off the openings to the containers with the pastries to get to them. It just was too much honestly.
This is not a staff issue- they staff are tireless trying to keep birds away, but they just can't keep up and honestly, why should they have to do this? Management needs to do something.
The other component is that at night, we kind of like a dress code, it is nice to dress up, etc., but when almost every chair in the dining room has bird poop along the sides of the seat, this is really disappointing. Don't really want to sit near this with nice clothes (or any clothes for that matter). I guess what we are saying is that this bird issue can be controlled better than what is going on currently. We have been at other resorts where the dining & food areas are partially enclosed with netting and partially with glass doors (can close a bit more in the day, open at night when birds are in bed...) and so on, and it worked really well. One bird once in a while isn't a problem, but what goes on here it just is too much. This really should be improved.

We liked Palm Island, it is beautiful like everyone says, and the staff are really wonderful, they are very hard working, pleasant and try hard - every one!!! .... but likely returning would be a no-go for us.
